good furniture and service, but expensive 4/16/2006

The furniture at Lewis Shanks is very nice. The sales staff are very knowledgable and friendly, but their prices are much higher than most other stores in Austin. Even when they have sales throughout the year, the final price you pay is still higher than if you had gone somewhere else. That being said, they had one lamp that I absoutely could not find anywhere else and I love it still so I paid their outrageous price for it. Great products but very expensive. more

Only shop at this store if you want to pay retail prices and then some! 9/24/2005

The merchandise at Louis Shanks is very nice, and probably has the best selection of high end furnishings (available to the general public) in Austin. However, the prices are outrageous! We have decided that the prices here are retail + markup. Yes, they have sales, but then you are just paying retail. You really can buy the same furniture elsewhere for less, if you do a little hunting. more
