LOVE IT! 1/2/2008

This place has the best books!!! I can always find unique books here for both myself and kiddies. I love the fact that they have a lot of community speakers and presenters come into the place. I love going into a bookstore and just passing hours at a pop by relaxing pouring through books. The staff has never made me feel uncomfortable for lounging about and taking my time, even if I don't buy something. I highly recommend this place to anyone with children, but especially anyone who has a daughter defineitely should check this place out. It is a gem of a bookstore and truly deserves the high rating it has achieved. Pros: extensive collection of certain books, great variety of hard to find genres Cons: parking stinks in andersonville, not enough of other genres more

Brilliant 11/13/2007

Brilliant!!!!! This store is doing something that most stores can only dream of. A perfect mix of feminist, hip, caring, and smart. This store has the best customer service in Chicago by caring women that actually want to help you and not just make a sale. I highly suggest a trip to Aville to visit this little gem. Pros: hard to find magazines/zines, great selection of hard to finds Cons: small space more

Absolutely the best 8/7/2002

This is one of the most wonderful independent bookstores ever. A great selection of all kinds of books, with a focus on women/kids. Knowledgable service, terrific atmosphere, and you get to support independent voices to boot! more

Reader's Delight 7/22/2002

This is a wonderful bookstore with helpful book sellers and great readings. If you're in the area (it's a little out of the way unless you're on the north side of town), stop in for some good reading. Pros: specialized, attentive, good readings Cons: specialized more

Great alternative bookstore 5/15/2002

If it's a gay/lesbian title or gender studies tome, you'll probably find it here. Good selection, nice indie store feel (so you don't feel like you're selling your soul to Barnes & Noble). more
