Watermark Credit union

Think you're getting away with something by banking with a Credit Union rather than a National Bank. THINK AGAIN! I've been a patron of WMCU for 5 years and I was recently charged $870.00 in transaction fees to service my FREE BUSINESS AND FREE PERSONAL CHECKING ACCOUNTS. WMCU's new transfer fee, at $5/transaction, is an insult. All the literature assured me that my banking would continue as usual......ha! Can you imagine how much money WMCU/SOUND has made on this scam....think about it...600,000 members, most of whom didn't raise an eyebrow to a couple of $5 fees......that adds up to a nice chunk of revenue for the credit union.....If your account was charged you should DEMAND to get your fees back or move to another financial institution. more

I work in finance and deal with Bank of America. I usually recommend my clients to bank elsewhere; fees are unreasonable, practice is questionable at times. I used to bank at Washington Mutual but they have grown similar to BOA. ATM fees are tremendous when travelling international. I paid enough ATM fees (for Wamu alone) during a 2 week trip in Italy that would have paid for a night of hotel. I switched to Watermark because they are more human and fees are more reasonable. They are part of the shared branching network of credit unions, which means you can do your banking business at almost all credit unions. They also offer free box of checks, higher interest rates, and free atm (but the atm terminal may charge you). Definitely inquire about other credit unions in your area as they can give you more benefits. more
