After reading the reviews, I was SO excited to book an appointment for a MUCH needed cut here... but all my phonecalls fail to go through and my e-mail was returned undeliverable....

Best Stylist for Men - Lady Jill !!! 1/15/2007

Nobody has been able to cut my hair better than Jill - this includes several salons I used to go to in NYC which were usually overpriced and always under-delivered. Being a guy, I'm not keen on sitting down and ""chatting about my hair,"" at length to explain what I want. Thankfully, Jill spares me this embarassment by understanding what I want right away, what cut will look good, and how best to do it. The key to a good haircut, as I have learned, doesn't just depend on the style but on how the style itself is cut in the first place. Since Jill has been my stylist, almost two years now, I've had many compliments on my new cut and I can't be happier with how low maintenance it is - important for a dude always in a rush. Aside from just being a cool person, Jill genuinely cares about her clients and is always prepared to go ""above and beyond"" to make sure her customers are 100% satisfield as I have always been. Thanks again Jill! more

Best Hair I've Ever Had 1/14/2007

I count myself very lucky to have found Jill: we've done a couple of different styles now and she is amazing. Started treating myself to serious hair care a few years ago but this different; definitely the best I've found. And Jill has been very flexible as my schedule tends to have a lot of last minute hiccups. more

Jill's the best! 1/11/2007

If you're looking for a new stylist, I highly recommend Jill. I have received many compliments on my hair since I started seeing her. I especially love the ones that say I look much younger! Jill is wonderful to work with. She listens to what I want and makes helpful suggestions. When I came in wearing new glasses, Jill made sure my cut and color complimented my new glasses. Not only is Jill talented and professional, she's lots of fun. Tart Salon is a cool place, too. It's friendly and sophisticated. more

Excellent place for a foil 1/9/2007

This is a great salon the stylists very competent and the atmosphere is very comfortable. I had a foil done by Heather and she did an excellent job. She actually LISTENED to what I wanted to have done. She did not 'rush' the foiling but took care in making sure they were placed correctly. The result is a beautiful, shiney and natural looking color. I have had this service done many times (at other places) before but have never been as happy with how my hair looks now. Pros: There is both free and paid street (and lot) parking near by more

Tracy is the best (seriously) 1/9/2007

I used to go to Tracy when she was at Allen Edwards in L.A. and tried tons of salons in Seattle when I moved up here but got so frustrated that I couldn't find anyone who knew how to cut my (somewhat difficult) curly hair. I was so excited when Tracy moved up here--and have since followed her wherever she goes. \r \r I've sent all my friends to her and she's done a great job on everyone (straight, short, color, whatever). Wholehearted recommendation! more

Worth the drive! 1/2/2007

Driving to Ballard to visit the Tart Salon from Snohomish is definitely worth the drive! Jill always does a great job of listening to my needs and making sure I don't have a ""cookie cutter"" haircut! My color always looks natural and my cut always looks great! more

Tart is the best of the best 12/27/2006

I can honestly say that the best hair cut I've ever received was given to me by Jami. She took the time to listen to what I wanted, knew exactly what I meant, and made my hair look better than it ever has... and that's saying a lot as I've been to many different salons in several different cities. My hair is very fine, but since Jami cut it, it has more bounce and life. Jami and the other stylists make Tart a very welcoming salon, and I plan on returning again and again. more

Great Service, Great Location 12/16/2006

I received an excellent cut and color service from Jami. I am very happy with the salon and the service I received and will definitely be going back. My one criticism is that I did not receive my first haircut free with my color service. Perhaps Jami just forgot when she rang me out, and I didn't realize the error until after I had left, so be sure and mention it at check out or you might not receive this benefit. That being said, I will definitely return for future services, and I hope that they will honor the free haircut on my second visit, since I did not get it on my first. Pros: Expert Staff, Excellent Location Cons: Pay attention that advertised specials are being honored at check-out more

I have been going to tracy for 2 years, and I won't see anyone else! She always knows EXACTLY what I want! She is EXCELLENTwith cut, color, you name it. And it doesn't hurt that she's the sweetest, funniest person around! If you want great hair, and an overall enjoyable experience, go see Tracy at Tart! Tart helps you be the true you 12/6/2006

I have seen Jami for many years even long before she started her own salon, Tart, in Ballard. She was always been amazing but now at Tart the entire experience is wonderful. I trust her completely with my cut and color. We've tried many things and all to great success. Whether it is crazy, hip, or classic, you're always stylish when you leave Tart. And Jami has brought on some great talent to help her out. You can't go wrong with service from Heather or Jill either. Give Tart a try, you won't be disappointed. Super cool. 12/5/2006

I've been going to Jami at Tart for about a year. I have difficult hair (course and curly), but she always manages to find styles and colors that show it off, not just ""deal with it."" The best is that the girls at Tart always offer lots of sugestions and hand-holding if you're not sure what you want to do. Great customer focus, no attitude. Definitely recommended. more

best beauty salon on earth 12/4/2006

Heather saved my hair. My last few colors at another salon had left my blonde hair yellow. Heather made it look real again. She picked color that matches my skin tone and then she gave me all over highlights instead of an all over color with highlights. That gave me an extra 2 weeks on my color before I had to have it colored again. Her prices were slightly better so it was really a savings with the two together.\r Whew! Thanks, Heather. TART's Heather Horton Rules! 11/30/2006

Heather gives the best haircut I have ever had (and I'm old enough to have had a lot of haircuts, yet still young enough to care how they look). My hair is fine and flat, but she manages to pump in volume with her magic scissors. I found her online when I lived in Ballard. Now I live an hour away, and I brave the traffic to get there. She is well worth the trip.\r The salon is elegantly decorated without being pretentious. Very comfortable and clean. A ten, just like you after your visit. Pros: Service, style Cons: Hunt to find it, but worth the hunt more

Comfortable atmosphere, good service, great hair! 11/30/2006

Heather has been doing my hair for years. I'm so happy that she makes her home at Tart! Other salons can be impersonal and sterile but Tart is warm and inviting and I always feel important when I'm there........like I'm a superstar! I'm always made to feel special and every time I leave I get RAVE reviews on how fabulous my hair looks. My thirteen year old daughter won't see anyone else! She says ""Heather is the only one that does my hair right!""\r THAT should tell you something :) more

Heather is the best stylist and colorist I have every had! This is a huge compliment because I haven't seen my natural hair color since I was 12 (I am 26 now) and I constantly get compliments about Heather's cuts.\r \r I originally read a review about Heather here on CitySearch when she was at her last salon. The review said ""I haven't had a bad hair day since I have starting going to Heather!"" That was enough for me to make an appointment for a cut & full foil with her. That was 3 years ago and I haven't seen anyone else since.\r \r Heather is great about working with you if you have a busy schedule. Heather can do HAIR!! 11/13/2006

Finally someone I can trust to do exactly what I wanted! Heather did my hair, and did the custom job I asked for to the ""T""! I have long hair and would not let anyone touch my hair for years. I finally went to Heather as she was VERY HIGHLY recommended from one of my very close friends, and I told her exactly what I wanted, and she actually did just that. Tart & Jill ROCK!! 11/5/2006

What a great salon! So cute and I got a very welcome feeling just walking in the door. The atmosphere is very up-beat and positive. Jill knows her stuff!! She did just the right color with great warm highlights. The cut was just what I wanted, too. I will go to Jill for all my hair needs. She takes the time to listen to me and then suggests things that will work for me and if I don't want to take her suggestions she is fine with that. I ususally do what she suggests because she really knows what she is talking, has tons of training, and my hair always looks great! I get several comments from other people and always give them Jill's card. more
