After reading the reviews, I was SO excited to book an appointment for a MUCH needed cut here... but all my phonecalls fail to go through and my e-mail was returned undeliverable....

Tart is awesome! The studio itself is a great space, and theres always cool art on the walls to look at! Every stylist is very friendly and talented! Elizabeth is especially great and I always leave feeling 100% satisfied. She is great, genuine and really funny and entertaining while you're getting your hair done, and makes you feel welcome. No awkward small talk! She's extremely talented with her scissors and my color has always looked shiny and amazing, not fried or overdone. LOVE her! more

Best hair stylist ever 9/8/2009

I'm one of those people that never go get their hair done because it has always turned out bad! My experience with Elizabeth at Tart has changed that. This girl is EXACTLY what I have been looking for in a hair stylist. She has good taste, listens to your wants and needs, and has a wide variety of skills. Elizabeth is absolutely wonderful, hands down the best hair stylist I have ever had. She styled my hair for my wedding, and since then I have gone back to her for a cut and color. Her prices are ridiculously affordable! For her quality of work you would expect to pay twice as much, but her prices are the best. She has exceeded my expectations every time I see her. I am extremely happy to have found Elizabeth! An added bonus, the salon is absolutely adorable, very inviting, and charming. You are treated with excellent customer service as you are offered water, coffee, wine, or a magazine. Check this girl out, she is worth it. more

One of the best cuts ever! 2/13/2009

I went to Tart recently and saw Jami. She was amazing! The cut I received - which was a drastic change for me by cutting over a foot off - was all by her design and her idea and ended up to be such a great new style for me. She also very graciously gave me the leftover hair to send to Locks of Love. She also accommodated me with a late appointment since I work and can rarely get out for a couple of hours. After a glass of wine, a great hair cut and foil and great conversation, I went home very happy. I am a new life-long customer of Tart. Also the Bumble & Bumble full line is available if you - like me - have been looking for somewhere to get the more rare B&B products. Great salon, great stylist! I highly recommend. Ballards hidden secret... Elizabeth @ Tart !!!!! 9/27/2008

I am a down to earth girl who likes to look fashionable but personable. I have always felt completely taken care of when I see Elizabeth. She is great at listening to my ideas and imputing her own knowledge with out making me feel out of the loop! I have been able to change up my style several times while maintaining my personal comfort and routine. All along the way getting pointers and advice on new products and styles that will fit my daily life.... Basically Elizabeth is awesome and she has NEVER dissapoited me, I can't think of anyone else I would trust with my hair and she has a killer sense of humor that will brighten up even the rainiest days!!!! more

Tracy is Amazing! 9/11/2008

I followed Tracy from her previous salon and have found her to be the most talented stylist I have ever been too, with the bonus of being such a bright spirit, down to earth and lots of fun. She knows exactly how to cut curly hair and has been helping me grow my hair out without it looking like mushroom head! She has done a few colors on me but mostly glosses and great cuts! She is worth the drive! Pros: Tracy, service, relaxed atmosphere more

In a mood.... 9/2/2008

So, I woke up one Saturday morning (last one to be exact) and thought to myself...""Does my hair fit who I am right now?"" and decided I needed a change. Jami put the cape around me and asked what we were doing today. I told her I wanted my hair A LOT darker and with severe Retro bangs. After a color consultation (where she talked me into doing one shade lighter to avoid crazy shock - and she was right...as usual), we got right to it. I've been going to Jami for over a year and have had nothing but amazing results. Once again, she did not let me down!!! She's the kind of stylist that remembers the little details of your life and is conversational without being too talkative. She's extremely talented, fun, funNY and absolutely worth the hour drive to her salon from my new house. \r \r I almost want to keep this review a secret because I'm selfish and don't want to have trouble getting an appt with her. :) Pros: Get a great hair-do for a still great price in Seattle. Cons: Ummm....I moved far away and now it's quite a commute? more

Butcher job 8/23/2008

The owner Jaime cut my hair, I wanted a trim but got a severe haircut, but the top was still long and bushy, I asked her to thin out and cut into the loft of hair left behind, and she cut into it so deeply that there are now parts that feel bristly to the touch. I had to go home and attempt to salvage what was left of my hair, and even out the parts that were uneven and where there were random longer stray hairs. Probably one of the worst haircuts of my life. Next time I will pay the extra money and go to Vain. more

Highly Overrated 8/18/2008

I'll just stick to the facts.\r \r Jami spent about 25 minutes total on me--even though I was getting almost a foot of hair cut off.\r When I paid, Jami did not even make eye contact, lazily muttering ""your welcome.""\r I left with hair stuck to my face and neck.\r The cut was pretty darn sloppy and choppy, and lacked the attention to layering that I am used to.\r \r I don't know where all of this glorious feedback comes from. Are these real customers? I might have caught her on a bad day but that is no excuse. \r \r Ladies, I suggest you go elsewhere.\r \r As for me, it's off to Vain I go... Pros: Wish I could think of one. Cons: Overated service and skill. In basement without proper ventilation. Bad manners. more

You will love your hair! 6/23/2008

Jami has been cutting my hair for a few years now...and every time I go in to Tart, I come out looking awesome. The salon is light, airy, clean, and I've never waited to be seen more than 5 or 10 minutes. I love Jami and all the other gals at Tart! Pros: Ambience, skill, cleanliness, fun atmosphere more

A hidden treasure! Sneak away from the crazy world for some very special treatment. Elizabeth is always in tune to what I want, whether it's a big change or something subtle - and she'll always talk to you about it before the scissors, or hair dye, start flying! I've tried many local uber-trendy salons, and have been unhappy about something - the cost, snobby hairstylists, having an unrealistic cut or color for my lifestyle. At Tart not only do I get a great (and affordable!!!!) cut and color, but everyone is down to earth and super nice. Try them - you'll be pleasantly surprised! Pros: Great atmosphere, service, products, and stylists. Cons: Boring (shared) restroom... more

I have gone to many hair stylists over the years and Elizabeth is the ONLY one to ever make me leave the salon feeling absolutely beautiful. I never really know what I want done, but somehow she manages to give me exactly what I want. She is by far my favorite and I'm so happy I finally found her! more

TRACY IS THE BEST HAIR STYLIST I HAVE EVER HAD. I HAVE HAD MY HAIR DONE MY MANY STYLIST, BUT NO ONE EVER DOES AS GOOD A JOB AS TRACY. EVEN WHEN I GO SHORTER, MY BOYFRIEND LOVES THE WAY MY LOOKS WHEN I COME HOME FROM SEEING TRACY AND HE IS MY BIGGEST CRITIC. more

Ive gone to Elizabeth many times and everytime she does an amazing job. She knows exactly what to do, and it always comes out looking great. She is the best hair stylist ever. Seriously. If you need a new haircut, go to tart, which is the cutest, nicest salon ever, and get an appointment with ELIZABETH. Because she will make you look amazing. Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

My new straight hair is fabulous!!! 10/23/2007

I have seen Jill for a few years now and I thought I would post a review because she is so amazing!!! She always has innovative ideas and I never get bored with the same basic haircut. She knows exactly what will work with my hair and my lifestyle. She is honest about what will look best with my hair type and what will look best on me. I couldn't be happier and I intend on being a long time client. Recently I had a thermal relaxer and I was nervous. Jill did an amazing job and eased my nerves because she explained every step. It was obvious she has had extensive training. I'm so happy with my new found straight hair. Its expensive but worth the results. If you have ever had thoughts of having this done go to Jill. She knows her stuff!!! \r Pros: EVERYTHING!! Cons: NONE!! more

Perfect Hair Salon! 10/17/2007

Tart Salon has a great environment, I followed Tracy there from her old salon and I love it! I would never let anybody touch my hair besides Tracy. I work retail and get complemented daily on my hair! I am very picky about my hair and careful of who I let touch it, I like to change styles a lot and Tracy is great at helping me come up with new ORIGIONAL cuts and colors! Pros: Ambience, parking, service, Everything is a plus!!! more

Elizabeth is wonderful! 9/26/2007

I've gone to Tart several times to visit Elizabeth and she always does a wonderful job. Whether I'm unsure of what I want or know exactly what I want, she always does an excellent job cutting and coloring my hair. It looks good straight and curly and I'm always getting compliments on it. The salon itself is very cute and clean and has a very friendly atmosphere. I also love the rotating art work. more

Jill rocks!!! 9/10/2007

For the past few years I have been unable to find that ""it"" sylist, but I have most definitly found her in Jill. I have been thrilled with all my hair cuts but I recently went for something new (a mullet, Jill called it a modified mullet) and she did an amazing job. She always keeps in mind that my hair has curl to it, so she makes sure my styles work both straight or curly. I highly recommend Jill.\r more

...my new favorite place in Ballard is Tart!!\r I visited Tart for the first time on Saturday to have my hair and makeup done for a photo session with a group of girlfriends and I *LOVED* everything about it - the staff, the space, the prices, and most of all, the results!! (And Rocko the Pug...). The ladies of Tart are everything you've read on here and more. They were sweet, patient (we were a rowdy crowd), talented, and tons of fun. The sweetest, most patient and accomdating staff 9/9/2007

My girlfriends and I took over Tart on Saturday having our hair blown out and our makeup done. Tracy is so incredibly fun, sweet, personable and of course a phenomenal hair stylist. We had some problems getting our false eyelashes on, but Jami and Tracy allowed us to come back after they took care of their afternoon appointments and fixed up our make up and re-fluffed our hair. They were so EXTREMELY accomdating - and just SO sweet. After all that I'm going to make Tart my permanent salon. LOVE this place - oh and Jami's pet pug is the cutest salon mascot ever!
