Best

This place is great for dining in with family, hanging out in the bar on a date, or ordering to go. They have happy hour twice a day with a nice selection of food and drinks, but ...

Worst

Possibly because I went on a rainy day, but the food is mediocre, and the drink specials at happy hour...

Consistently Solid 9/8/2010

I'm originally from California and I consider myself schooled in the ways of Mexican food. When in Seattle, I make sure that I eat here. There is a down-homeyness that I appreciate about this place and the food reminds me of being in Rosarito or Ensenada. The staff is always amazing and the food, while not a 10, is consistently an 8+. Not sure where all these other people went, but Tacos Guaymas' East Green Lake location is always solid, predictable and satisfying. more

Happy hour is okay, service could improve 9/27/2008

I went here on a slow Friday with a couple friends for happy hour and the happy hour food and drink were decently priced. The food was good, but the service was slow and lacking, especially since we there was only one other table occupied in the restaurant. more

ok not bad 8/17/2008

ok not bad Pros: live music Cons: cheap red mole sauce on everything you order more

most mediocre happy hour/ margaritas in town 6/8/2008

""Don't you just hate it when a place has a great location and decides to just... not try?"" my friend asked me half way into our margaritas. Yes, we were sitting outside and watching people, dogs and bikes make the Greenlake tour, but she had an incredible point. The lackluster (eg slow and discombobulated) service was perfectly paired with the weak and flavorless drinks. Needless to say, none of us were shocked when our server announced that she had mistakenly charged us happy hour prices because *happy hour prices do not apply when you are SITTING OUTSIDE!*- To her credit, she left the happy hour discount on our first round of drinks. Yup. If it weren't for their real estate, this place might have to try. Pros: view, people/dog watching watching Cons: drinks, happy hour, stale chips, service more

SLOW service 5/4/2008

We walked around Green Lake and wanted to stop somewhere for lunch. Tacos Guaymas looked busy but we were seated immediately. We got a basket of chips, no salsa, no water....and ate them slowly. Eventually, we were given a really hot salsa and ONE glass of water (for two of us). We asked the bus boy to send our waiter and he said that the waiter was wearing a black shirt. We flagged down the guy who was serving everyone else out on the patio in a black shirt and he said - uh...let me get your waiter. After about 30 minutes of waiting and no further attention from any staff, we left some money and left the restaurant. This is the first time either of us has ever eaten the complimentary chips and salsa and bailed before ordering. This experience was just unacceptable. Pros: Seemed reasonably priced, neat salsa bar Cons: Horrible service; salsas at bar not marked for heat! more

Great little place 6/13/2007

This place is great for dining in with family, hanging out in the bar on a date, or ordering to go. They have happy hour twice a day with a nice selection of food and drinks, but during regular hours they also have good deals on great food. The staff is nice, service is quick, and you can sit outside on a nice day. The steak nachos are really good, but share them with at least two other people, the portions are huge. My only bad experience was going to the all-ages side on a busy summer night; there were way too many kids running around. It's much safer in the bar, but the tables are really small. Pros: Great food, good happy hour Cons: Can be packed with kids more

fast and fulfulling 9/13/2006

Fantastic! For quick and tastey mexican food come here. There is always outdoor seating available and the drinks are dee-licious. Pros: double drinks at single prices Cons: some food is pre made more

Tacos Guaymas, without you, where would I be? 5/18/2005

Fell in love with the super burritos in Burlington, mourned the loss when I came to Seattle. Realized there were many to chose from in King County and I recovered quickly! The staff at Greenlake Guaymas are an amazing group of people- meet them all! Best daiquiris I've ever had- try the rasp. Tortilla soup, steak picado or chicken salsa roja are to die for. Enjoy the view of the lake! Pros: friendly staff, delicious, affordable more

Was a patron for years, now a place to avoid 4/25/2005

I started eating there in 1999. I enjoyed it for years. The last dozen or so times I've eaten there, the service was slow (15-30 minutes before they would take my order) and the food was sub-par. The staff is disorganized, and customers are often left without wait staff. Even when I've received decent service, I've seen others growing in frustration. Sometimes the dish delivered would not match the menu, and sometimes would not match what I ordered. Sure this stuff happens, but it happens here more than most other places. When the staff doesn't bother to talk to you again, after bringing the order, until they bring you a check the problem is complicated. For the past two years I've tried it out again on occasion, hoping for change. However, the service remains the same and the food only goes downhill. Pros: Next to Green Lake Cons: Bad Service, Bad Atmoshpere more

Need to Improve Food 6/19/2004

What happened to their tasty food? The last few times I've gone there, the tacos were a little pricey and could've used some flavoring. The beef was a little tough. Also, they should have better chips and salsa for when you wait. The location next to Green Lake is nice but since expanding, their quality has gone down hill. Pros: location to Greenlake, TV Cons: , stale chips more

Not the best of the Guaymas-es 2/8/2003

We tried the Capitol Hill location, which had good food over the course of three visits; the Green Lake location (which is more swanky) had nice atmosphere but not-as-good food. Overall, though, Id say the chain as a whole is one of the few taquerias in the Seattle area worthy of the name. Pros: Nice atmosphere, Green Lake locale Cons: Food lacked love more

Cheap and Tasty! 1/31/2003

This is the best place to go for fast, tasty, fresh Mexican food. Try the fresh salsa bar - especially the green avocado salsa! We practically live off of the carne asada tacos and the great tamales. Pros: fresh salsa bar, inexpensive, great food Cons: Parking can be tight, loud more

La comida authentica 1/24/2003

Fablous, fresh, delicious & authentic. You can do it up (eat in the service section) or go cheap in the self-serve. The food tastes great no matter what. It's also consistent & never disappoints. Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Seattle. We never go elsewhere. Yum! more
