Sunrise Dental

Wish I knew the dentist's name I saw 1-1/2 years ago at Sunrise Dental, but know I'll never go back. My initial complaint was pain in a upper back tooth supporting a bridge of three teeth. The dentist I saw looked at the x-ray his assistant took and determined that the tooth and the bridge had to come out due to infection, which would leave a large gap in my mouth and it would cost me $400.00 for the extraction. He further stated that the bone loss was so significant that a transplant or root canal was not an option.Thank God I listened to my gut as well as this dentist's assistant who encouraged me to 'really' think about it before I decide - as my chewing ability would be difficult. She was an angel, but (I feel) the dentist was only interested in the fee. I lived with the discomfort for a year and a half until I decided to return to my regular dental care facility (UNC Dental School) where another x-ray was taken and the dentist told me that their was no infection in the tooth and, even though there is bone loss, there is absolutely no reason to extract the tooth or perform a root canal. The pain was caused by the bridge itself and 'not' the tooth. They simply adjusted the height of the bridge and the pain has disappeared. more

My family and I have found a new dentist. When my wife fell and broke her teeth we had an impossible time finding an oral surgeon. Our doctor could not get return calls. The emergency room could not direct us. Dr. Vice's staff had us in the office in less than 1 1/2 hours. The surgery required was performed in the office and was so well done we knew we needed to look no further for a well-qualified oral surgeon. The initial results are amazing, but that does not tell the whole story.\r \r We arrived at 3:40 and my wife was in a chair and seeing Dr. Vice by 3:45. Dr. Vice stayed with my wife and I until 6:15 when the surgery and other procedures were complete, and he was not alone. There were at least four members of his staff still there, assisting, and helping us. We thanked them for staying late and every one of them insisted that it was not a problem. They acted like they did this all the time.\r \r We know that we are not their only patients, but they made us feel like we were. We will not go anywhere else for our dental needs. more

I was seen at Sunrise Dental as a new patient. I was immediately impressed with this practice. I was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in the door and was barely able to sit down before they called me back. I saw Dr. Meckler and Farrah. They worked very well as a team. They made me feel very relaxed and comfortable during the procedure. All of the staff were very friendly. I will definitely be returning to this office and bringing my family as well more

Sunrise Dental...more like Twilight Dental. Disorganized, inexperienced clerical staff never a pleasure to deal with. But worse, after 2.5 years as their patient they tried to sell me on an implant when there was nothing wrong with my tooth. Dr Meckler took one look at an x-ray and decided without further investigation that he ""couldn't save the tooth"" and that it was his ""dental assistants' fault"" for not getting better x-rays during my last visit 7 months before. He said right away that I needed an implant and wanted to book the extraction that day! Then Dr Vice came in and told me he'd be doing the work, rest assured and said I shouldn't wait too long...\r Turns out the shadow they saw must have been an overexposure. Good thing I got a second opinion, and better x-rays! Geez, without further analysis, we should be pulling healthy teeth out for implants! I called to talk to the manager Paulette to discuss what happened and she said his older x-rays were fine, and that she would have Dr Meckler call and try to explain or apologize but no one ever got back to me. Horrible customer service, unimaginable after the loyalty I showed them. So what I figure is as long as teeth are healthy, they can manage a cleaning, but if it's more complicated I just can't trust these people. The fish sticks at the head - needless to say I will never go back! more

After my insurance company gave me a big book to decide my dentist choice I decided to look for testimonials and I decided on Sunrise Dental. After needing 4 extractions and now some more planned work, I know that I made the right decision. I cannot imagine anyone else taking care of my teeth and gums. They are personable and know that I always need a blanket to comfort me more than satisfy the fact that I stay cold. There warmth and sensitivity in caring for my dental care are just impecable. I am more than pleased with my smile and the care I recieve when I go to the office. I recommend them highly to new patients and those who just are not satisfied with their current dental care. more

This dentist's office is a blessing, literally.\r \r It all started when one of my little girls had a tooth ache on a Friday, no dentist was open in Raleigh and/or would see a new patient. My car literally accidentally drove to Sunrise, we walked in, and it was as if harps were playing in my ears. Everyone was so friendly, attitentive and helpful. Dr. Gladwell was so sweet and easily took care of the problem. Now my twin girls will not see anyone else.\r \r An orthodontic visit informed us that both girls would each have to have two baby teeth pulled. This terrified them (and, I'll be honest, it terrified me). One of my girls was crying as they were both seated. Dr. Gladwell remembered what they had wanted for Christmas, was able to talk to them and explain things, and my girls watched Disney and had some nitris? gas while each tooth was pulled. AND, as an added bonus, Dr. Gladwell was able to show me and explain to me why this was necessary, which relieved my fears that I may have not been doing the right thing. \r \r To sum it all up, this dental office is spectacular. Everyone from the front desk, the hygenist, Dr. Gladwell, and the check-out is awesome. This office is not just for kids, but they sure know how to treat their little people. \r \r Nothing warms a mother's heart more than to know that her children were well-cared-for. Horrible office. Inexperienced clerical staff. Always issues and problems with this office. Absolutely horrible. All Dr. Vices offices are this way. They run high production so they drill the smallest little thing. Funny how one can be diagnosed 8 cavities here then go somewhere else and suprise suprise- NONE. If you want lots of un-necessary work, call Dr. Vice and associates. more

I honestly had not been to the dentist in 6 years due to terrifying fear of any dental procedure. A cleaning made me more afraid than anyone can imagine. I went to Sunrise Dental due to agonizing pain from a chipped molar. After learning that I needed a root canal, I only thought of how I could get out of the situation. Realizing there was no way around it, I returned to Dr. Meckler at Sunrise for my root canal. Dr. Meckler coached me through it, telling me how important it was that he give me a comfortable experience so that it would not be a negative one that would deter me from returning again. Today, 7 hours after my root canal, I have to say that I am in no pain, feeling much better than I was this morning with the pain from my tooth, and no fear of returning for something as simple as a cleaning and perhaps more work. Dr. Meckler, his assistant, Carla, and Kristin C., the front office staff member, treated me with respect and as if I was family. They moved their schedule around to accomodate my root canal since I was in such pain. I will return to them and will recommend them to others. The surroundings were soothing, I watched TV and listened to classical music through my headphones the entire process and felt nothing. \r Do not fear any longer, these guys are the dentists for you- they definitely are for me!!! This is a first time message so please bear with me. Sunrise Dental has the best clerical and tech staff I've ever met in a dental office but the rest has been a nightmare! I had 5 of my teeth filed down for 6 crowns ( missing a tooth) October 8th and here we are In March and I still don't have my permanent crowns. There is always some hold up or other- the docs don't cover each other's services so if one's dentist is away for any reason you are just out of luck. I've paid quite a lot I feel for 6 crowns and a bridge so I could have a nice smile again but all I've gotten back for the money I've spent is 5 months of crappy looking temoraries that I have to keep gluing together, which is actually quite funny ( in a dark, scary, superglued-my-fingers-to-the-tube kind of way). So I don't feel that I can recommend Dr. Vice or her practice to anyone. I CAN recommend that you go almost ANYWHERE else! Unless that is you want to spend a lot of money for really ugly teeth that you never get to wear anyway. Dr Synder did a very poor fitted crown, and then would not /could not make it right. She wanted to send me to another specialist to have the work she did redone - at my expense. I will not go back. Cons: Poor quality more

I have been going here for the past four years. Had to get two teeth pulled last year, it was totally painless. The staff here is great. I love Dr. Soch, she is the sweetest person. also very gentle and caring. more

Dinah Vice offers the best customer service of any dentist I've every been to. Plus, the convience of being able to set appointments in Raleigh and Chapel Hill is great and wonderful for my family.
