I've been so impressed with Dr Lain's dermatology practice that I feel compelled to post about it! I first took my kids to see Dr Lain a few years ago for a rash and he was so calming and gentle with them. He diagnosed and treated what my pediatrician could not! I've since used his practice as my go-to-place for skin care, laser hair removal and facials. It's so nice to have a great doctor and full-service derm practice so close to home! I have recommended Dr Lain to countless friends....so I hope this helps all of you who need derm care! more

Not only is Dr. Lain a great dermatologist but he is a caring and concerned physician and person as well. I finally hit 30 a while ago and have started losing my hair at the hairline. I have friends with the same problem (some worse than others), but I ignored it because I didn't think much could be done. The genes in my family do not bode well for me. My girlfriend disagreed with my opinion and insisted I see someone. I certainly would like to keep my hair, and if a doctor could help, I decided to give it a try. Dr. Lain gave me several options and I decided on a daily treatment program. The treatment has worked and no more hair loss has taken place. more

Steiner Ranch Dermatology is Awesome! I've recently decided to do something about my skin (40 years old and dealing with acne, wrinkles and sun damage). I knew I wanted to do some cosmetic procedures but wanted to be advised by a dermatologist and not an aesthetician. My mother always said "go to the best doctor you can".... so I started asking around and a friend (a medical doctor) told me about Dr. Lain. I met with Dr. Lain and he told me what products I should be using on my skin, and what cosmetic procedures he would recommend for my skin. There was no pressure to buy his line of skin care products (he told me what genetic ingredient to look for in store bought items) I went ahead and did buy some of his products and now I can't live without my Melashade (the best sunscreen ever!!) I would recommend this tinted sunscreen to everyone. It's silky smooth and because it's tinted it evens out your complexion. I don't wear a lot of makeup (I never wear foundation) but this sunscreen evens out my complexion...it's awesome! I live in central Austin and usually stay in my " central bubble" for all needs but I make the trip to Steiner Ranch Dermatology for great service from Dr. Lain and his knowledgeable staff. more

My family has used Dr. Lain's services at Steiner Ranch Dermatology for years and have received great care. It's a recent visit with my son that prompted me to write this review. My son had to have a wart removed from the bottom of his foot and was terrified. Even after much coaxing, bribing and a phone call with dad he still wouldn't let Dr. Lain take care of it. The office had already closed at this point and Dr. Lain had already spent considerable time with us. Dr. Lain was very patient and explained that we could put some numbing lotion on his foot the next morning and bring him back in again the next afternoon for the procedure. Everything went off perfectly the next afternoon. I so appreciated his patience and understanding (and even though we took up 2 appt slots, we were only charged for one). more

Went in early 2009 for a regular mole, skin check. One of the 4 biopsies came back as needing more margin. Dr. got on phone. Did not provide any details of what type of concern it was other than abnormal. I inquired that a larger margin was needed. I've had sun spots successfully removed in one treatment before by another doctor who is now retired. I recently went to Dr Lain and after one treatment there was no difference. I'm not sure if he took it personally when I returned but the second treatment actually made the spots FAR worse than they originally were. Pros: Location Cons: Made my skin condition worse! more

Dr. Lain is very knowledgeable and has excellent bedside manner. I took my teenage daughter to him because she was experiencing severe acne on her chest and back. She didn't want to go because she was very self-conscious and embarrassed but Dr. Lain was so nice she left his office with a smile. The prescriptions we got started working right away. Her chest and back cleared up fast. I also battle with acne and have been using Dr. Lain's products which work better than anything I've used in the past. I have been a patient of Dr Lain's almost since he opened the Steiner Ranch office. I have used Dr Lain for my annual skin cancer checks, removal of moles that were troublesome, botox, and fillers. I have to say I get many comments on how young I look for my age. I appreciate the fact that Dr Lain can be honest about what looks good and can achieve that look without the frozen face that I sometimes see. Pros: Professional Staff, nice location more

Dr. Lain really cares about his patients, I went to him for Botox and he took the less is more approach with me. I really appreciate his honesty and it saved me some money. We moved here from California and my daughter was having a skin pigmentation problem. I had taked her to several doctors in California and no-one could diagenois her finally we brought her to Dr. Ted Lain and he was able not only to diagnosis her but treat her and get her skin back to normal. I have mixed feelings about the service given me by Dr. Lain. As an adult, I have experienced more acne than when I was a teenager, but it still isn't awful. In fact, it is minor, but I just had some blemishes and blackheads I wanted to be rid of. My first visit with Dr. Lain was great. He and his office staff are wonderful. I was given a few prescriptions for my acne, and within weeks, my skin was clearing. My problem with Dr. Lain resulted from my follow-up appointment when Dr. Lain spent all of 3-4 minutes with me saying there was not much more he could do for me even after I explained to him that I had many blackheads on a daily basis. I didn't expect a miracle, and I understand that my skin may never be perfect, but I did expect a little more time from him. I felt thrown to the curb. He even admitted to me that that had to have been the quickest doctor appointment I'd ever had! I guess after reading how wonderful he was with Botox and skincare, I expected he could help me. HOLY COW! I'd like to properly thank Dr. Lain and his amazing staff for what they have done for me, but I don't know quite how I'd do it. I just had the Lux 1540 resurfacing treatment and I'm pretty sure my skin hasn't looked this good since I was 10. THE perfect rejuvenation for this over-50 face, but I highly recommend it for anybody. Great clinic, great staff, amazing doctor. Go. more

I saw Dr. Lain for an annual skin check and to show him some stuff I was concerned about. Very professional, congenial, and thorough. Clean, modern office and very friendly staff. Dr. Lain was running 5 minutes behind schedule, but came in to check in on me and let me know he would be see me in a few minutes -- I wasn't just sitting there, waiting. ;) He makes you feel comfortable and explains everything he is checking. I would recommend him as a dermatologist, and plan on seeing him annually (even though the practice does all of that botox and skin rejuvenation, I just go for the regular, once-a-year dermatology stuff...)
