Like most parents (one wishes all parents), I am very picky about where I send my children. That said, my wife and I are very happy with St. Gabe's.
The Pros: The staff seems to love teaching there. Everyone at the school watches out for the kids. We know our kids, and every one elses kid is safe there. They are also getting a great education. Discipline problems are virtually non-existent there. With that, teachers can actually teach, unlike many of their public school counterparts. Put your child in St. Gabe's and you will know they are getting a good education, and will be safe as well. They also take students on field trips. The school is also VERY diverse! We love that!
The Cons: I only have two negatives, and they are rather small. One is that the school doesn't have a playground. I grew up in a small New England town, where the school had acres of land for us to run around on. So for me, it just takes getting used to being in the city.
Also, they give homework in the younger grades. I am one of those hippie parents who thinks kids shouldn't get homework. However, pretty much every school gives kids homework at the younger grades.
All and all, my wife and I are very happy that are kids go to St. Gabe's. I give it a solid B+. Tuition is very resonable. Their after-school program is less than half of what some of the cities charter schools charge.
Pros: dedicated staff, family atmosphere, diversity
Cons: school has no playground
