Square on Square

I ate in there couple days ago and their service was horrible. the food that i ordered tasted salty as hell. i told the waiter about it and he started getting mad and told me it was suppose to taste that way. I asked him i would pay for another order and he ignored me and he left to another table. I paid for my food and still tipped him and i left without eating ( I Regret tipping). more

Square on Square offers tasty, reasonably priced Chinese in Center City - for dine in, delivery, or takeout. It has all the typical options you would expect from a Chinese restaurant except the chicken for example is fresh and juicy not gristly or fatty and the veggies also taste fresh. It also has more original dishes on the chef's specials menu - I highly recommend the Honey Walnut Shrimp and the Mongolian Merlot Beef. For an extra dollar, you can get brown rice. The portions are large, the service quick and friendly, and the restaurant has a dark romantic atmosphere. This is the best Chinese restaurant I have found so far in Philadelphia. more

Well, Square on Square doesn't really sound like a Chinese food place, but that's what it is. The location is great, right in the heart of Center City, Philadelphia. The decor is very nice, the price is right, and the food is really good. My favorite dish is the Chicken and Eggplant in Garlic Sauce. Yum. It's a bit hot but not burn your mouth off spicy. My friend Liz always orders the Chicken and Asparagus, which she swears is great. The waiters work really hard at this place. There's an upstairs and a downstairs and they are constantly running up and down those stairs. We always marvel at just how hard they work and try to tip a little extra. I mean, try and imagine yourself climbing those stairs 300 times a day carrying heavy trays! Lunch gets really crowded at this place. You either need to get there before 12:00 or after 1, or expect to wait a bit for a table. The service is usually pretty quick, though, so you shouldn't have to wait too long. Overall, a great place for eat-in Chinese food. more
