They feel of the place was awesome. The serivce was great when it came to dinner and the bartender was very helpful when it came to choosing the perfect after dinner drink. Highly recommended for the whole family or for a romantic date in the city more

wonderful homemade gnocchi 8/26/2006

We chose Spasso as the location for our Sunday night birthday dinner and found it to be very enjoyable, even though the service was less than perfect. We were seated in a prompt and timely manner, but the waitor was not very attentive. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, but they forgot to mention that the crabcake appetizer only comes with one actual (yummy) cake! I would definitely eat there again and I loved the Italain street themed decor, but the service is this place's weak spot and brings down the overall score of the resturant. Cons: service more

Best Value 7/10/2006

A group of us came here last saturday and were pleasantly surprised! The avg course was about $14-$15 and the wine list was not ridiculously priced! I will definately be back for the crab ravioli and the chicken w/proscuitto. Wonderful restaurant and for 5 ppl including one app and one bottle of wine, the total was $141. It's a steal if you ask me, we couldn't stop raving about the dinner. There was no need for dessert b/c we were stuffed. Pros: Good Pasta Dishes more

A lovely surprise 5/29/2006

My boyfriend and I ended up selecting this restaurant after passing on a few others in the area. The hostess was sweet and friendly and cleared the table so we could sit outside( with a nice view of the bridge). everyone who worked there had Italian accents but they weren't snobby. There is a cozy bar area as well as main dining room and large party room. No matter what atmosphere you're looking for, this restaurant was sure to please. the wine selection was comprehensive and the food was flavorful without being over spiced. If you like Clams... 1/31/2004

We found this place about a year or two ago, and had their clams w/ red sauce, which is out of this world. We still can't find anyone else who can make better clams!! I'd recommend the Linguine and Clams in the red sauce!! Also, its a great atmosphere, not too loud, decent crowd, great staff, great wine...we have nothing bad to say about this place. Way Over-Hyped 1/23/2003

There is no reason for this restaurant to get any sort of good review. It took 30 minutes for our drinks to come, and they were the wrong drinks to boot. The appetizers came with the dinner and the dinner was cold when it arrived. They asked us to move our table in the middle of eating our dinner becuase a big party was coming and then left our food on the first table for 10 minutes. We actually got up and brought our food across the restaurant to eat it. Furthermore, the food was overpriced for the size of the portions and wasnt very original. more

Definitely going here again 1/19/2003

I got Veal with grilled vegetables, which was excellent and my girlfriend got their gnocchi, which was really superb. I would agree with other reviewers in saying that it probably is the best gnocchi in the city. Overall, great value, portions, and very attentive service! Pros: Value more

Unstuffy Italian excellence 10/17/2002

The dining room has an open, breezy feel, and the food and service flow with that. My favorite Italian restaurant in Philly. Always friendly, always delicious, good solid Italian food without a stuffy feel or crowded seating. more

If you want delicious italian food with great service in a comfortable, yet hip atmosphere, spasso is your place. The are always willing to accomodate you and even allow you to orde off the menu. Servers are exceptional (especially 'Gent'). Oh yeah, the food is alwas fresh and authentic. Have fun and ask for their 'family style' appetizer and desert. Great place for family or couples.
