Excellent 8/6/2006

My family and I went here for my birthday. The food and the service was excellent. My only complaint is that as I was leaving, I overheard 2 waiters making fun of some of the customers. The waiters need to be more aware of what they say when they are in an open area. Pros: service, food Cons: staff bad-mouthing customers more

Great place Good Italian food 5/31/2006

Fantastic interior; you have the impression to be in one old Italian castle or villa in Tuscany. Food and wine are good and authentic. Service is excellent. more

RUDE WAIT STAFF 3/10/2006

The waitress displayed a bad attitude throughout the night and then added a 20% gratuity without imforming us that she had done so. When I attempted to use a visa gift card, and there were issues with it running on their system, she loudly announced that the card had been declined, and demanded another form of payment. We put the meal on CC's and when our bills came back it looked as if we needed to tip, so we added an additional 20%. We ended up tipping 40% on overpriced food and a aweful service. Since the prices they charge warrant a higher level of satisfaction towards ""total experience"", I will not recommend the restaurant to anyone. Pros: Wine List Cons: Wait Staff more

Pretty good Italian Food 2/9/2006

Overall I would recommend this restaurant. The food is fairly non-adventurous Italian food but the quality was high. I would like to see smaller entrées for less $$ as there was way too much food on the plate. The quality of the food was high. The restaurant does have good ambiance and has authentic looking Tuscan architecture. The service was good as well. The wine list could use more Italian wines in all categories and price ranges but there was a decent selection. The prices were fairly high but were in-line with the amount and quality of food. Pros: Great fireplace, Nice bar, Private Dining Rooms more

Different side of Italian 1/31/2006

It was nice going to an Italian resturant where all the entree's weren't drowning in sauces and smothered with too much cheese. Siena's ambience alone is worth the experience. The Tortelli di Vitello Arrosto was exquisite and the Filetto di Manzo was so tender you could cut it with a fork! The only setback was the noticeable disappointment of waiter when he realized we were splitting these dishes, but that didn't stop him from giving us good service. Reservations are a must. This may be a bit much for a first date, but a must for a second or third. Pros: Steak, Ambience, Wine Cons: Expensive more

kids at siena 1/19/2006

While the restaurant is great for being romantic adults it still treats children ( and the patrons with children) perfectly. They will make the ever popular mac and cheese - noodles with alfredo or any other kid friendly dish, within reason. I have taken my daughter there several times and she has loved it and the service was great. more

Nice Place but poor service 8/10/2005

The restaurant is lovely. I've been there several times and the food ranges from average to good. The service is always lacking however ranging from the clueless hostess, to the busboys and wait staff reaching across you to fill water glasses and serve bread. Today my meat was not cooked as ordered. I pushed it aside and ate the rest of the food on my plate and had no opportunity to complain to the waiter because he never checked up after the food was served. Not until he was clearing the plate did I have a chance to express my food complaint and he offered to have the food cooked more- a useless offer since everyone at that point was finished with their meals. I was hoping for a free dessert or a discount on my meal. No such luck, not even an apology. Pros: ambience Cons: service more

Excellent atmosphere, poor desserts 8/8/2005

Visited during happy hour. Could not get favorite drink-martini for some reason. Food was very good as was size of helpings and value during this period. Had the tirimisu which was disappointing-very dry and little flavor. Bar neighbor had the triple cholcolate torte, which was described as ""overwhelming""--too strong for an Italian dessert. Bar person was not customer friendly and bragged about experiences in Italy vs. our lack of ""sophistication"". Pros: Atmosphere, Decor, Food Value Cons: Poor desserts, Bar staff more

Highly recommended 9/19/2004

This place is great. It is cozy yet has a touch of elegance. The food is marvelous, and the service great--- the waiter knew all about the dishes and answered all of our questions. If you are expecting the Olive Garden's typical fare of lasagna and fettucine alfredo you will not find that here---what you will find is different, more authentic but absolutely delicious Italian fare. Make reservations or plan to wait--- oh, and they also open late. Pros: great food, ambiance, wines Cons: , walk-ins wait more

WONDERFUL!!! 5/21/2004

A group of us came here through a referral - I'm glad we did. The food is wonderful, great presentation, waitstaff was attentive & very informative about the menu selection. The restaurant itself has a very nice, classy yet casual setting to it. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who's interested in a ""different type"" of italian cuisine. Whatever you choose, you'll love! Pros: Priced just right, Great Staff, Great Food more

Really love this place 3/19/2004

Siena is one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. From the decor to the food, I can't say enough good things about it. Have had a great time everytime I've gone. more

My favorite restaurant in Austin area 5/28/2003

This is by far my favorite Austin-area restaurant. This is where my mate and I go for our anniversary every year and for other special occasions. It is so romantic, and the food is out of this world good. Pros: Yummy, Romantic, Beautiful surrounding more

Superb!!! 4/26/2003

Fantastic service, I cannot say enough good things about Siena. The staff was friendly and courteous, very helpful. The food was wonderful, and the chef's special (a four course meal) was an excellent value at $42.00. The meat entrees were fork tender. Will be visiting here again. Pros: staff, wine list, dessert more

overrated 3/2/2003

overrated, a good place for westside yuppies to spend way too much money for average at best food. p.s. too salty and too loud Pros: the building Cons: too expensive, too salty, too loud more

italy with your eyes closed 2/13/2003

This is one of the best restaurants in town. It is a little far out, but worth the drive. Surely a date place with the best, maybe only, wild boar ragout. more

Tuscany in Austin 12/7/2002

Go! Warm, taverna-like atmosphere with excellent food. Bread was warm and soft. The tenderloin, served with a reduction sauce was cooked perfectly as were the crisp, fluffy roast potatoes. The pork tenderloin was good too. Tiramisu was average. Service was okay. Nothing to write home about but not poor. Study your Italian wines before perusing their wine list or you'll go crazy. Pros: atmosphere, food, parking Cons: expensive more

Truly great Italian 12/4/2002

The food here has never been anything short of fantastic. The veal chop has ranged from great to best steak ever. The filey is equally good. Chocolate torte with Grappa cherries is also very good. Service has been spotty. more

They have more port than scotch! 8/11/2002

We came in almost 45 mins early for our reservation thinking that we would spend time at the bar first, but they were able to seat us right away at a table on the upper level. Food was well above average, but about par for what you're paying for. Go for the atmosphere, great wine list and super-friendly and helpful staff. Try the Warres Nimrod Port. Definitely the best value on the dessert wine list. Pros: Wine list, knowledgable staff, ambiance Cons: pricy, just "good" food, somewhat casual more

Very Romantic! 8/5/2002

We went to Siena for Valentine's Day and it has become our favorite ""special occasion"" place in Austin. Great service, excellent wine list, and great food. Beyond our expectations! Pros: Romantic, Good service Cons: Expensive more
