A gemologist who obtained his degree from the GIA, Mr. Shwartz is a member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, the GIA Alumni Association, the International Society of Appraisers and the Chicago Jewelers Club.

Using the latest in gemological technology, Mr. Shwartz creates high quality reports with complete photographs and descriptions of each individual jewelry item. He describes the type of metal (gold, platinum, or silver), the type of piece (ie. ring, necklace, bracelet), lists the metal weight, and writesa complete description of each stone. The items discussed include type, weight, measurements, clarity, color, proportions, and symmetry.
Mr. Shwartz combines his expertise in jewelry appraising with a background in communication and interpersonal skills. His ability to tactfully handle difficult situations, such as divorce and death, creates an atmosphere of trust and professionalism.
Prior to opening his own business, Mr. Shwartz worked in the jewelry business for 20 years. He was the manager of H. Stern Jewelers in Chicago and was a salesman and appraiser for S.A. Peck Jewelers and Henry Kay Jewelers. He grew up in the business, working in his grandfather's jewelry stores in Fairborn, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Arts degrees in English Literature, Violin and Music Education from Case Western Reserve University and Ohio State University and taught in the National Teacher Corps. In 1975, Mr. Shwartz returned to his first love: gemology, obtaining his Gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America.
Well known in the Chicago jewelry community, Mr. Shwartz was featured in an article in the Chicago Tribune and on WBBM television. He has spoken to organizations throughout the Chicago area, including the Chicago Public Library and Congregation Rodfei Zedek. He has given extensive court testimony in divorce, probate and bankruptcy cases.
