We went to this place today early afternoon, and was really disappointed due to the lack of food they had..It took them forever to refill the buffet line. And once they did which took forever. The food is great but but it does have more fried food that anything else.... Very slow employee, we never got offered a refill of beverage. My friend a I noticed that once people left they the employees were very QUICK to go see if they got a tip.....I will not visit your establishment .. again. I will take my business else where... . , Disappointed.... more

Bad! Bad! Bad! 5/7/2012

We will no longer be Sea Dragon's customers due to their sub-par customer service, lack of integrity, and less than adequate (quality and quantity) lunch buffet bar. My husband and I have met up with friends for lunch or dinner on several different occasions. My experience with the lunch buffet is that most of the food on there is fried (not a lot of dishes with vegetables in it), too spicy for children to eat, and if you get there about an hour before the buffet ends you'll find yourself picking through what is left on the bar, most of which is dried up looking. They'll charge you the full price for the lunch buffet although they've decided to stop bringing out fresh/new food. Because of this reason, we decided that we would stop going there for their lunch buffet. What happened next led my husband and I to the decision that we will no longer be Sea Dragon's customers ever again. We purchased a LivingSocial deal for Takeout & Delivery which listed Sea Dragon as one of the restaurants participating. We used our voucher to purchase take-out from Sea Dragon through LivingSocial, however, when my husband arrived to pick up the food the staff told my husband he needed to pay for the food. My husband let him know that the food has already been paid for through LIvingSocial (because the voucher goes towards the balance of the food and you pay what's leftover with your credit card online). What's crazy is that the amount the staff told my husband he owed for the food was actually MORE than what the food balance was before the voucher/credit was applied. My husband asked what happened to the credit from LivingSocial and the guy said that the prices are wrong. The owner of the restaurant then came out and proceeded to ask my husband what he wanted (in a rude manner). My husband let him know that we made an order through LivingSocial and it was already paid for. The owner said he doesn't know what/who LivingSocial is. My husband asked him how he got our order then. He said he doesn't take orders from the fax machine and only from the phone. While this was all going down LivingSocial somehow was alerted that this merchant (Sea Dragon) wasn't wanting to work with them so they gave my husband a call to let him know. It was very uncalled for for the way my husband was treated. All in all, it was a very bad experience. Another thing, which adds to Sea Dragon's lack of integrity... they have attempted to charge us the lunch buffet for our 2 year old son. Our friends, who have a 3 year old, have been told before that 3 and under is free for the lunch buffet, but then most recently they were told that it's free for 2 and under and not 3 and under. You can't find it printed any where what the age limit is for the buffet. more

Disapointed 9/3/2011

My husband and I have been married 20 yrs. When we were first married we loved to go to Sea Dragon with friends or by ourselves. The food and atmosphere were wonderful. The restaurant was busy and active. So many choices for food and all of them were sure to please. Over the years, we have noticed fewer and fewer people coming to the Sea Dragon. The atmosphere became very cold and the food was less impressive. I honestly could have cooked most of the same food at home. Why go out? My husband and I paid for a babysitter and dicided to go to the Sea Dragon one last time. The food was mediocre. When we received our bill, we were very surprised. We were overcharged so much that we asked to a ""talk"" to a manager. He shrugged and in a chinese spoke to his staff then he basically told us ""too bad"" for the wine. This was the price. We knew we had been taken. Will NEVER go back. We were overcharged and they totally meant to do it. I am willing to pay my share, but I felt like we walked out of there feeling as if we had been taken. NEVER again. more

WONDERFUL! 12/24/2007

Perhaps the finest casual dining Chinese restaurant in Austin. Their noon buffet is wonderful and draws many customers, but it's their dinner menu that can't be beat. My recommendations: hot and sour soup (ask for the crunchy noodles to go with it), fried rice cake with vegetables, any of their shrimp dishes (they do sesame especially well), lo mein chicken or beef or veggies (it has a wonderful, traditional flavor), and just about any of their Vienamese dishes, though I have a particular fondness for their noodle soup with wontons and barbecue pork. Mmmmmm... I'm not real fond of their egg rolls. The crust seems a little tough for my tastes, but that's the only food I've ordered that hasn't been absolutely delightful. The service is prompt and courteous, and after you've been there a few times, the servers get to know you and treat you like family. There are always many Chinese and Vietnamese patrons dining here, and that's a good indication that the food is authentic and well prepared. I eat out every meal (don't know how to cook), so I make it to Sea Dragon at least twice weekly. It's a real treat that I never grow tired of. more

Pretty nice 8/13/2006

Great atmosphere and very clean. The food was pretty good and so was the price. Located in a shopping center so keep your eye out for it. more

Hard to find but GREAT food 12/8/2005

My husband and I recently moved to the area and immediately went in search of Sea Dragon on the recommendation of a fellow foodie. We love the food. What's really great about the restaurant is you can get BOTH Chinese and Vietnamese dishes that taste equally authentic. During the cold and flu season, sufferers should drive as far as it takes just to have a bowl of their piping hot Vegetable Soup (Mi), pork vermicelli, and Ginger tea. I haven't had a good Moo Goo Gai Pan in 15 years probably, but they can do it. The atmosphere is kind of dreary at night because it's such a large open room and rarely is filled all the way (they have a horrible location that is not visible, even when you're on the access road right beside it!). It's busier and brighter during lunch, when they have their buffet going. Pros: Authentic Chinese, Authentic Vietnamese, Great Service Cons: Hard to find more

hidden gem! 6/5/2003

I've always liked this place for authentic chinese/vietnamese food.. Its kinda of hidden b/c of its location. Almost everything on their menu is good! The fried lemon pepper calamari dish is pretty good.. Their lamb dishes are good as well. more

Great Vietnameese food and buffet 12/22/2002

I typically go to sea dragon for the vietnameese food, which is always great... However, I tried their lunch buffet and it was excellent also. Service is courteous - good all around. more
