Schlechter, Nicole L, Md - Women

I am new to the Nashville area and found Dr. Schlechter by the reviews and the fact that she delivers at Baptist Hospital. I have had nothing but positive experiences with her and her staff, they have always been very friendly and helpful. I don't know who is giving other women such a hard time, but when I moved here all I did was call and ask to make an appointment, at the time I was about 20 weeks pregnant and I was able to make an appointment for the following week. My only complaint would be that on my first appointment I had my 20 week ultrasound to determine the sex of the baby (of course my Mom and husband were coming with me) and was told that if I was more than 15 minutes late I would have to reschedule, well I got stuck in traffic behind a huge accident on the interstate and not knowing the city at all didn't really know an alternate route, but I called and explained the situation to the nurse and she actually made special arrangements for me to still have my ultrasound that morning. I was terrified that I was going to have to reschedule this important ultrasound after I had already scheduled it around everyone that wanted to come and at the time I was living about 1.5 hours away. I was very grateful that the nurse was so nice to work with us that morning. I just feel that they should maybe not just tell people that if your late you have to reschedule, just take other patients early if they are there. more

I unfortunately will never be able to experience the greatness of Dr. Schlechter, but I still wanted to warn people new to her practice or considering it...some of the office staff really is as unhelpful and rude as others have said. To make a really long story short, I had checked weeks before moving from out of state if she could take me on and what steps I needed to take. I was diligent but her office called me 2 weeks later than when I was told (I repeatedly called to check in during this time), and then proceeded to tell me the Dr would be on vacation and couldn't see me for another few weeks and then would be on vacation for my delivery. Then someone rudely told me I didn't have to just see Dr. Schlecter because she had good reviews, they had plenty of other qualified staff. I repeated to her for a second time that I chose this Dr. because the one person I knew in this town recommended her and this was my first pregnancy so I was nervous and new to it all and wanted to go to a referred Dr., it had nothing to do with the reviews. But then she 'warned' me that if I did choose another Dr. there I had to stay with them through the pregnancy, no changing. Anyways, that's just a bit of what I experienced, and she only became more rude when I started crying because she wasn't helping me even though I kept telling her this was my first pregnancy and I didn't even know when I should be coming in. Needless to say I went with another Dr. in a completely different practice and I am so glad I did. Try Dr. Carl Wingo if you want to have a good experience right from the beginning. Though I will emphasize this is all based on Dr. Schlechter's office staff, not her. Just wanted to give a heads up to mothers-to-be. more

YES - what you are reading is true - she really is the best and is most concerned about the amount of time she gets to spend with her patients. She is such a professional, yet also one of your friends. Just makes ya want to have another baby just to keep seeing her! I have trusted her for many years now. She is always willing to be challenged as to the reason and alternatives for her advice, and does not take it personally. She is my absolute lifetime favorite medical professional. The appointment process is cumbersome at best and when you arrive at the office, the person at the desk might be too busy flirting with medical supply vendors to check you in - this is only true of the shared office staff, not the nurses. But, I put up with it because I love Dr. Schlechter. I choose my insurance plans based upon what she will accept. Not having her as an option is a deal breaker. Dr. Schlechter brought my first child into this world, our miracle child. He was born at 2.9 pounds at eight weeks in 2003. I am now 40 and having our second child. She is taking no chances on this one because it is still somewhat of a mystery as to why my first child did not grow. We are doing all the extra tests and taking all precautions. Dr. Schlechter handles my nervous nelly husband like a champ and keeps us informed the whole way. She is a blessing and anyone would be lucky to have her for their OB. Dr. Schelchter is so bouncy and fun and really takes an interest in her patients. She really put me at ease. My water broke in the middle of the night and one of the other doctors came over until morning. She was also very nice. Dr. Sclechter came in to deliver my baby, tho. She is really wonderful! Dr. Schlechter has been my OB/ GYN for over 10 years and I love her. I chose her because I have a pituitary tumor and need someone who specialized in endocrine problems. She lead me through two successful and healthy preganancies and now watches over me for GYN issues. She is smart and passionate about what she does. She has a great bedside manner and I consider her my friend. more

I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Schlechter. I started seeing Dr. Schlechter in April 2007 after I became pregnant with my first child. I was very impressed with her style and bedside manners (both in the OB office and in the hospital during and after labor and delivery). By the time I had my daughter I felt like Dr. Schlechter was a dear friend. I was equally impressed with her nurse Cindy and the office in general. The office will schedule your OB appointments way in advance so you can rest assured that you will always be seen when needed and you will be seen by YOUR OB. The office does not make you switch around and ""visit"" with all their Drs. Also, I never had to wait very long at all for my appointments (possibly because I always scheduled early morning appointments?). Pros: free parking more
