Excellent food and atmosphere 11/6/2010

Went to dinner with long time friends that we had not connected with in awhile. It was a welcoming atmosphere- great Baltimore Harbor views - seafood tasted like it was just caught from the dock - could not have asked for a better evening out with great friends. Chef Miranda exceeded expectations and provided exquisite cuisine for a special occasion. Exceptional experience with some football talk and ambience to boot! more

Don't Waste Your Money 11/10/2009

I haven't eaten at this restaurant in over 20 years and now I remember why I never went back. I took my girlfriend there for her B-day (at her request) on October 25, 2009. Loud, noisy, disorganized and chaotic. Two parties going on at the same time. You could barely hear yourself speak due to the loud music, noise and thumping. No access to the bar. The crab soup as an appetizer was by far the worst I've ever had, being a Baltimore native. Totally full of shells and no crab meat. The rockfish I ordered was overcooked beyond description, burned on the edges and had the texture of shoe leather. My girlfriend had one of the 'specials' that consisted of a 'pinky sized' lobster tail, a few overcooked shrimp and a golfball sized crab cake. Her entree alone was $47.50. A complete rip off and waste of money!!! I wasted $150 for the whole meal. If you want real crabcakes go to By the Docks Restaurant in Middle River or Pappas Restaurant on Taylor Avenue. The Rusty Scupper should be shut down for serving such horrible food. If anyone from out of town goes here looking for good, authentic Maryland seafood they will be very disappointed. I would be embarrassed to tell anyone to go to this restaurant. If I were from out of town and went here, I would have to ask what all the hoop-la is all about with Maryland seafood, because this place has horrible food. Do Not go here! Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

Disappointment 6/18/2008

What do you want at the end of a long day of walking around the grand, historic city of Baltimore? A great meal, a warm and relaxing atmosphere and experiencing that well-known service that only Baltimore's restaurants can provide. But, forget about this happening at the highly recommended Rusty Scupper. Disorganized and disinterested service, poor hospitality, and mediocre food is what you'll find. Upon arriving we had high expectations of this dining establishment and we were immediately disappointed. It took over nineteen minutes for a waiter to ask us our selection of drinks and that was only after I requested that this service to be provided. We were told by a waiter, that ""he would take up the slack and it was a pleasure to serve us"". Great service by John! Other personnel need to improve upon their work ethic. The food was mediocre. We were not shocked by the prices, but we were shocked by the quality of the food. The fried shimp was ultra-crispy, the leafy greens in the salads were fresh, but the croutons were stale. Average. This food compared to a fast food entree with the high prices. So, if you're willing to $$ pay for the ambience and not for the food or service, then this is place for you. But, if you're like most, go someplace else. Pros: Music & View Cons: Service, food quality and value more

Outstanding Sunday Brunch 8/6/2007

I ate Sunday Brunch here August 5, 2007 with two friends, and it was an outstanding meal in every regard. The extravagant brunch buffet featured all-you-can eat shrimp, oysters, smoked fish, fresh fruit, breakfast foods, brunch entrees, carved ham or roast beef, omelets made to order, bananas foster, a sinful dessert table, and mimosas, all for $43 each (that's including tax & the ~ 15% gratuity we added in). I almost forgot to mention the live jazz music and the beautiful view of the harbor! The service was great, and the food was very good. Double-check the hours, but I think the brunch buffet opens at 11:00 AM on Sundays. Definitely make reservations if you're in a large group, but with just 3 of us, we were accommodated immediately without a reservation. Pros: Sunday Brunch Cons: Have to pay for parking at the marina more

Great Customer Service!! 6/6/2007

I just took my wife of 15 years out for a romantic night out in Baltimore and I got just that. Although my meal was just ok my waiter "" Jay "" made up for it. He made sure that our night was a success and made us feel right at home. He suggested a great wine that now is what we drink at home and was so prompt and pleasent to us. You could tell he liked his job and did it well. The best part was when I asked him how long he had been a waiter he told me only 5 months! Someone like him I would of thought he had been waiting tables for years. I plan on coming back there soon and hope to get the same service like before. Pros: Service Cons: Expensive more

Not Enough Bang for the Buck! 10/15/2002

This place has it's location going for it....wonderful spot on Inner Harbor...very romantic, especially during the evening. But, the price is too much for what you get. While the food was good, it wasn't good enough for the price you must pay. And the service left a lot to be desired...a waiter that was completely uninterested in serving the customers! Not enough bang for the buck!! Pros: Wonderful View, Romantic Cons: Poor service, Pricey more

It's Dennys on the water! 8/8/2002

Lousy menu, poor food quality,over-priced, inconvienent parking, unprofessional service, fire and smoke damaged, but by far the worst thing is the management, totally uncaring. Completely inept . Do yourselves a favor go across the harbor and eat at McCormick & Schmicks, or at Pisces at the top of the Hyatt Regency, the prices are about the same, and they earn every penny of it. Pros: View, location Cons: Management, food, service more
