It was VERY good. Our server was great and the food was better. It is a little on the pricey side and the menu doesn't have much on it, but that doesn't matter. It is excellent.

Terrible experience 9/17/2011

I just started my master’s degree at UofM and decided to go investigate different bars around Ann Arbor. When my boyfriend and I found this Rush Street place we ended up waiting for 20 minutes in line. During this time other people kept coming in through the exit line while bouncers where not there ( idk where they were). When the bouncers came back my boyfriend decided to comment and express his disagreement regarding other people coming in without waiting in line. At this point one of the bouncers, for no reason, punched him. Seriously, out of nowhere just punched him! I want to point out that neither of us was drunk at that moment. That was completely immature and unacceptable, and I don’t believe that there should be any physical force involved when you are trying to express your opinion. I will never come back to that place again and I would not recommend it to anyone. more

The general manager cheated us. 6/2/2007

I went with a party of 6 during happy hour for a friend's birthday dinner and sat in the section of Rush Street bar and restuarant known as 800 North. We were served by the bartender who was very rude and even commented that he did not like one of the members of our dinner party. He also disappeared frequently leaving us with no service at all. We spent about $120 for drinks and some food but when we got our bill they had tacked on a $37 "mandatory" tip which was listed as 18% but was actually over 30% of our bill. I asked another staff member about it and she told me that that could only be charged to parties of 8 or more which was abbreviated right on our bill as "8 per" (I assume 8 persons or more or something like that) Well the person paying by credit card refused to pay it based on the fact that by their own policies they could not charge it to our party of 6. Generally when we go out we tip 20 to 25% for good service but the fact that they blatantly tried to cheat us was unacceptable. After the card member wrote in the total of our bill without this mandatory tip we left but later found that the restuarant had illegally charged the cardholder without his consent. I personally went back to meet with the General Manager Phillip Georgeson who told me that if I didn't have proof he wasn't going to do anything to refund the money that they illegally charged us. So later I returned with our reciept proving both that we had been charged a tip only allowed for larger parties and proving that this "18%" mandatory gratuity was actually over 30%. At this point the staff told me that Phillip Georgeson was in a meeting and could not be disturbed. So I left messages with the staff and by phone to his business number. I recieved no response so I returned again and was again told that he was "in a meeting". After a few more calls I gave up but have told everyone I know about this especially because what they did was not only unethical but actually illegal. Please avoid this bar/restuarant and it's unscrupulous manager at all costs. more

Tapas! 9/26/2006

Go during happy hour when tapas is half off! The food is good for the happy hour price and the server was excellent. One of my few experiences where I can say this server deserved a good tip. Great atmosphere and much more sophisticated than Rick's (look up my review on Rick's - yuck) for those who are looking for good food, drink, music, and singles scene. Also if you consider the cover you have to pay to enter Rick's, Rush Street is probably cheaper since you can put that money towards a drink or a plate of food and it's definitely worth the money. more

Rush Street 6/4/2006

This is a pretty small bar restaurant. It is split in half with one side of dining and a nice bar and the other side is more of just a bar / pick-up / singles area. It is always busy on the weekends and can get quite crampped, but it has a nice atmosphere and the staff are really nice. Parking in the structure is usually your best bet. more

Rush Street 9/21/2005

I stopped at Rush Street the other evening for drinks and the place was extremely packed. It took quite a while to get a drink and there were no seats to sit in. The bathrooms were in the front of the bar which made it a little difficult to get around the band, and make your way through the crowd. Good atmosphere. Street parking is difficult, but there are several parking structures nearby or parking in the back of the bar. more
