Best

One of my favorite restaurants in Portland.

Worst

I have eaten here a couple times. The last time was in 2008 and it was the last time. The food is decent, but not as good as other middle eastern places in Portland. If you liv...

Best Humus and falafel in town 10/18/2006

Riyadh's is a restaurant that I frequent on a regular basis because it offers the best humus, baba ganooj, and falafels in Portland. Everything is obviously made from scratch as you can really taste the flavors of fava beans and fresh peppers in the falafel. Another one of my favorite things to order is the chicken kebab mezza featuring lemony chicken breast skewers, humus, baba, falafel, and tabouli for roughly $8. It's an incredible deal. Pros: inexpensive, fast service, delicious (oh Cons: none more

Some of the nastiest food I have ever put in my mouth. 9/21/2006

I don't know if I was there on a really off night or something, maybe the real chef was sick and the rhasta waitress's boyfriend was throwing food on the grill. But it was soo bad that I could never give it a second chance. My companion and I went away from there burping up burnt grill grease. I will usually give a restaurant 2-3 chances really, but this just was not an option. We only lived a few blocks from there and loved the look of the place, very European and cozy, we were so excited about having a new favorite restaurant so near, then everytime I drove by the place I cringed with the memory of "the nasty flavor that would not go away". Yuck! Pros: Very cute European type feel. Cons: Really bad food. more

Best schwarma in ptown but that ain't saying much 6/5/2006

I lived in Saudi Arabia for a decade and I got-ta say, even the crappiest schwarma on the seediest street in town was better than the schwarmas they have here. BUT, they have the best schwarma in ptown since no one competes with them. My big gripe with this place is that they don't stuff their schwarmas enough for the price they're charging. Back to home they were around $2 and you were full after just one, I think Riyadh's charges around $5-6 and you need to get a couple to really be content. Then again, I'm a fattie so hey maybe you'd be full after one, doubt it though. more

ok, i love me some Riyadh's. i moved here from Brooklyn where there were delicious, authentic Lebanese restaurants everywhere. so i'm definitely picky. Riyadh's is the most similar and authentic i've had in PDX. BUT, i have one BIG complaint: they don't make their own pita bread!!!!! in fact, when we ordered a few pieces, we were told that six come in a bag. we're thinking it'll be some sort of paper, to-go bag. no, it was the original bag they purchased it in! tacky! G-R-O-S-S. NON-AUTHENTIC! i've never heard of such a thing! granted, i eat it cause i'm desperate, but seriously folks, it's horrible. also, it's bizarre, but it tastes like they pickle their spinach and grape leaves. GOO! gross. all in all, if i'm craving lentil soup and salad, i go to Riyadh's. if i want pita bread, i head to India Grill for some naan. Pros: lentil soup, salad, decent price Cons: PITA BREAD!, unfriendly service more

Yummm for your buck!! 4/9/2006

My family dined at this place last night. Food was great & price was quite reasonable although the portions were not huge (BUT IT WAS ENOUGH). Service could be a little better but friendly. By the way these guys were quick to feed us. Pros: price, food quality, speed Cons: service more

Yummy Food & Great Atmosphere :) 8/9/2005

My boss buys all his employees lunch every other Friday, and this is a favorite take out place where the guys in the shop like to eat! I took my hubby here after work one day, and we both loved it! Neither one of us had probably eaten much Lebanese food before, but I know we will be eating more of it. Especially the lamb, it was so tender & full of flavor! I had lamb w/ veggis & rice and hubby had a gyro and it came with (lentil?) soup, which was surprising good :) Price was great and we both left with happy tummies! Pros: Great Atmosphere, Quick Seating, Great Food & Service more

Best Lebanese in PDX! 11/6/2004

Riyadh's is a hidden gem! This is authentic Lebanese, the way it should be. We started with a smooth and creamy hummus which perfectly balanced the tahini, garlic, and garbanzo flavors. The lamb kebabs were fall-apart tender, the kibbeh deliciously seasoned, the falafels and dolmades are handmade on site. I am a kafta connoisseur, and theirs is truly the best I've ever had. I don't normally care for baba ghannouj, and I loved theirs! I've tried Lebanese all over Portland and never been more impressed! I can't rave enough about Riyadh's. The owner and his wife treated us most excellently, and if there is one place for Middle Eastern food in PDX that deserves your business, this is it! Pros: Authentic food, Reasonable prices, Great atmosphere! more

Favorite Portland Restaurant 6/21/2003

I have eaten at Riyadh's for almost 2 years. Riyadh's has consistently excellent food. I have never had a bad meal here. The atmosphere is warm, laid back and friendly. We recommend it often to friends. Great for groups, we had 6 people, our group included a foodie, jet-set lawyer and a son of a famous chief/restauranteur from Chicago --Riyadh's even impressed these two! This is a casual place were you go to get great food!! You can take off you work clothes and have fun with friends! Leave your pretentious attitude outside and relax!-Bring the kids-high chairs available! Beer, lemonade, tea, sodas--take-out always great too! Pros: fun, laid back, cozy, consistently good, light airy atmosphere Cons: no parking lot more

Great food and Service!! 6/16/2003

One of the best restaurants in Portland, (for its size.) Waiters have never been as friendly or more responsive to consumers needs!! It might help them out to have a slightly larger dining area in order to draw a bigger crowd. But you won't leave Riyadh's feeling cheated!! Pros: calm atmosphere, inexpensive, great food Cons: limited parking more

One word, Falafel! 8/7/2002

I have been to many of the Middle Eastern establishments in PDX and Riyadh's consistantly has the best falafel. Their combo plates (mezzes) are a wonderful deal with samples of their shwarma, hummous, and tabbouleh. The space itself has the comforting sleepy feel of a warm Lebanese evening. Pros: un-crowded, great prices Cons: street parking only more
