Actual car ""care"" 5/14/2010

Generally, I dread taking my car in for maintenance so much that I put it off for months. That was the case with my 2002 VW Passat which really needed some routine maintenance and had issues with the air intake system (causing the check engine light to be on all the time). My experience with Revolution Motors was excellent. Not only did I not have to wait to drop-off my car, but they had no problem dropping me off at home and even picking me up after the repairs were complete. They kept me up-to-date on their findings, made practical recommendations on which repairs were really necessary (no pressure at all), and (as far as I know) provided me with reasonable prices. Revolution went above and beyond by also throwing in a free car wash and free wiper blades as this was my first visit with them. I'd definitely trust my VW with Revolution and plan to have all of my regular servicing done by there. In short, they've renewed my trust in auto repair shops, and that's no small feat! Pros: Prompt, friendly service; free pick-up/drop-off more

Overpriced! 1/21/2009

As most of you know, it is hard to find a good mechanic. Very, very difficult, sometimes. I had a minor problem fixed here about a month ago. It was a little overpriced but they specialize in foreign cars and that's what I have. They did a fine job. No problems since and I was happy. Recently, I woke up to a bit of a leak. I had a good bit of gas pumping out of what was obviously a very old hose. My car is fairly old. It seemed minor enough but I was still expecting a couple of hundred dollars. I have also had a minor oil leak for a couple of weeks. I have watched it and knew where it was coming from and how much I was losing. On average last than a half a quart since my last oil change a month ago, not that much really. I thought I am here fix it all. I recieved a phone call saying that my gas leak was going to be a big ordeal and cost around 360.00. Pretty steep for a quoted around 2 hours of labor but O.k. . Then the big news the oil leak was going to cost 1100-1500. They suggested that I walk away from a perfectly in order car with only 118,000 miles on it. Just ditch it. I immediately picked up my car where I paid them 45.00 to tell me all of that. I then took my car outside of town to a small mechanic where they charged me around 40.00 total and it took them around 45 minutes to fix both problems. The gas leak alone only took 15 minutes and needed 3 inches of rubber hose. What is up with that? more

Best Auto Servicing Ever 7/14/2008

Whoever heard of a mechanic who does house calls? It's probably not on the normal list of services, but I must say Patrick (the owner) went well above and beyond the norm of any car servicing station I've ever dealt with. \r As I was leaving work last Thursday, I was distressed to find my car wouldn't start and no amount of jumping would revive my battery. And to complicate matters, I happened to be parked on the lowest level of the parking garage. I called at least 25 tow companies and no one could tow me out of the garage from that level. \r I called Revolution Motors (they have been wonderful every time I've taken my car in) and was fortunate enough to catch Patrick before he closed up shop for the day. I was only calling for an idea of what might be wrong with my car. Patrick wouldn't let me go with just some advice. He actually drove out to meet me by my poor dying car. Then he helped me tow it to street level where a tow truck could take it to his shop. He must have spent at least 2 very hot, garage-air stifling hours helping me. \r The next day my car was running in full health and my bank account wasn't drained for it. The guys at Revolution Motors are honest, fair and fast. I wouldn't trust my car to anyone else.\r more

My Favorite European Garage in Austin! 7/24/2007

I am not what one would call an expert on cars. Yet Bono, Patrick and all the others at Revolution Motors explain each situation comprehensively and candidly. They are reliable, honest, and accessible. I am so pleased with Revolution Motors that I could not imagine buying another car that would fall outside of the limits they would work on! \r \r Pros: Pleasant atmosphere, attentive customer service, nice Austin feel to the place Cons: Not open on Saturdays more

Best Saab Service I've EVER Received 5/26/2007

You know that you are going to an outstanding service provider when you take your car to a reputable auto repair facility and they recommend that you go to Revolution Motors because they can better resolve your problem. Revolution came through with flying colors.\r \r I took my car in because a grinding noise in the engine compartment. They asked, ""have you ever changed your belts?"" I replied, Yes. ""Did they change the bearings?"" Hmmm. I don't know. They informed me that many auto dealerships fail to replace the bearings that drive the belts when they change the belts. The bearings are known to sieze on Saabs, locking up, and causing SEVERE damage. After calling and confirming with the dealership that they did NOT change the drive bearings but that they could do so AT AN ADDIDITIONAL COST, I had Revolution make the change. They pulled the drive bearings and alloweved me to inspect them. Knowing a bit about domestice car repair, I could tell that we were LUCKY to have caught the problem. The bearings were HORRIBLE. It was scary to think of my wife and kids driving around with the car in that condition since this is my wife's primary vehicle.\r \r They've since done additional work on my car and have come in UNDER BUDGET each time. I would HIGHLY recommend them. They not only repair the car to the highest quality, they help you understand WHY they are making the repair.\r \r Safe driving! Pros: Great on budget estimates. Great customer service. more

this is the best for European cars 4/16/2007

If you have a VW take it here! These guys know cars, and will not cheat you. They are very helpful. I had a oil change at that Hippy Lube place and wasted 4 days with my car in their repair shop for a smog ordeal. Finally they couldnt help me. I took it to Revolution and had it fixed the next day, along with the oil leak caused by the Hippie Oil place. Pros: great bunch of guys Cons: not enough Citroens for sale more
