creepy for me 5/7/2006

I'm from a small town in the country and when I first went to Pike Street Market a few years back, as a grown adult, I was totally freaked out. there were some very odd people, I was waiting for my husband to come out of the restroom and I watched a guy walk in with nothing, a few minutes later the SAME guy walked out eating 1/2 of a hot dog! Ewwww. Lots of beautiful fresh flowers and men throwing fish. It is fun, but I didn't let my husband stray too far from me! more

pike place 9/14/2005

Pike Place Market. I think almost everybody has been here at least once. It's a great market to get groceries from, especially fish! Thats where all that smell comes from. I do have to say that it is a little bit expensive but that is because they get so many customers that the buisness is doing so great! Theres one on 4th and Pike downtown. If you havent yet checked it out, tell me what you think. Enjoy! more

A working market 8/17/2005

It always surprises out of town visitors to realize that Pike Place Market is a working market. The produce here is competitively priced (comparable to or cheaper than grocery stores), and especially near closing time, you can get great deals on day-old bakery goods and "use 'em now" vegetables. Fish and meat are also reasonably priced and the fish is very fresh. It pays to shop around before buying if you've got the time, and fighting the crowds, especially on weekends in the summer, isn't fun. But it's a great place to go for fresh produce and fish, and even when crowded, it's a fun place to shop. more

When volume matters 8/17/2005

Depending on the season, the flowers you can find from any of the several merchants here will be either fresh or dried. Either way, they'll be relatively cheap (think $15 for a gargantuan bouquet), and while some vendors have better arrangements than others, all will be at least have decent. It may be tempting to get the flowers immediately on the corner of 1st and Pike, but those cost about 4x what you'll pay if you wander deeper into the Market. more
