That does it - Carmen at Private Edition is officially the greatest make-up artist I have ever experienced in my 57 years. Ever since my makeover two weeks ago, I've been flooded with compliments telling me ""how beautiful you look today"". I noticed that not even one person has said ""your MAKE-UP looks great today."" My new look is fresh, clean and very natural. Honestly, if left on my own, I would never have selected this set of colors or the type of foundation I am using now that makes my skin look like porcelain-I was stuck in an old rut. You can buy make-up anywhere, (and a lot of companies in Nashville carry the same brands) but only a true artist is able to select the perfect set of colors for your skin, hair, eyes, and wardrobe, and then teach you how to apply them using techniques that are updated and stylish. If you are needing a bikini wax I highly recommend Gina at Private Edition. She was wonderful and made the taunting task of getting a bikini wax a more enjoyable experience. Private Edition was recommended to me by a friend who said their new, remodeled store and spa was one of the best kept secrets in Nashville. She was right on! The store is easy to find since it faces Hillsboro Road. As I walked into the treatment center, I felt like I was entering a spa in New York: it was bright, chic, modern, and very clean. The staff was gracious, friendly and professional. I immediately felt relaxed. Then the pampering began. I had my brows done and the shape is beautiful! I'm very picky about my brows and was delighted to find such talent. I also received a Botox treatment that is the best I have ever received with minimal discomfort, which is really appreciated. Next, on to the spray tan. I have had this done before at another spa and was disappointed with the color, which was too orange for me, The spray tan that Sydney gave me looks completely natural and there are no lines or dark patches-she did an excellent job. Finally, I needed new make-up since I felt my ""look"" was becoming dated. Carmen first spent time talking to me to find out who I am--what I do, where I go, what I liked or didn't like about my current make up, and what I was trying to achieve. I'm 56 and literally NO ONE has ever shown me that type of interest before a makeover, and believe me, I've had plenty. She selected Laura Mercier makeup in beautiful colors that look fresh, clean and polished with my skin tone. The best part is that my colors can be applied heavier for an evening look, which saves me money in the long run. I left that day feeling refreshed, peaceful and beautiful. I have definitely found a ""spa home"" and wanted to share this experience with others. I highly recommend Private Edition. more

I recently found this great waxer at PRIVATE EDITION named KIRSTIN. She does a great -fast bikini and i've tried alot of different people. I finally got the nerve up to get a brazilian and it hurt but she was thorough and fast.\r \r My main concern in cleanliness and she DOESN'T DOUBLED DIP the wax stick-very important!\r \r She turned me onto Tend skin for ingrowns. For wax services use Gina!!!!! Especially brows! Use Carmen for make-up. She's the best!!! She does the best make-up for your special events. This a great place to get high end and hard to get products. Honestly, I have gone in there numerous times in sweat pants, no make-up, hair messed up from working out....a hot mess. Honestly, I have never been treated in a rude manner. You may have all of the ladies helping someone at the moment, but the customer service is great from what I have experienced. This may not be NY City or Begdorf Goodman's, but if you want to know what store's like that are using then this is the place to come to. Linda makes sure she is up to date on the BEST products. Woo is great, but they don't offer half of the products this store does. When I started college in Nashville 7 years ago, my face went from clear to terrible. I purchased a product that I thought would be the best, but ended up allergic to it. When I came back in they let me return it, no questions asked, and proceded to help me find a product that did work for my face. My experience has been generally positive for a long time. I can see how this place could intimidate somebody more familiar with department store cosmetic counters - lots of pretty and high-priced products in a tasteful setting - no Clinique counter here. They have treated me as I wanted: expedient if I was in a rush (often), and helpful in explaining products when I needed information. The Therapy Systems loyalty card is pretty generous. I was treated with the same respect when I wore jeans and muddy work boots as when I shopped in a skirt and jacket. Don't know about the spa services, but may try them next. I can't believe the rude reviews I've read about Private Edition. I shop here frequently and I am always greeted by someone, even if they are busy with another customer. I always receive OUTSTANDING service!! It sounds like these other people have bad attitudes and would probably not be pleased no matter what. Most of the sales staff and aestheticians have been there a very long time so that says a lot more about their professionalism and expertise than someone who is angry because she didn't get her lip gloss fast enough. It is really nice to go into a store where you see the same faces year after year. It makes me feel confident that I am getting good advice about all of the products. Try finding that at any makeup counter, I don't care if it is New York. These women are all very knowledgeable and extremely classy! The attitude these losers who call themselves ""salespeople"" would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic. I've got a newsflash for them.......in case you haven't noticed, this is NOT New York, and you are certainly NOT Bergdorf Goodman! Even if you were, your behavior would still not be excusable. As it is that you are in NASHVILLE, it is beyond pathetic.....while the selection of merchandise is somewhat exclusive (for the Nashville market)....it is nothing special considering your online options. As someone who spent many hours and many tens of thousands of dollars there over the years (when they were just a one-counter wonder at Jamie, then their shop at Bandywood.....anyone else remember?), I gave up on their poor customer service and flimsy facade of civility long ago. All the best labels here that I LOVE - Laura Mercier, Kiehl's, Bumble & Bumble....I could go on and on...I agree with the last reviewier - what kind of attitude do you go in with when shopping there? I am usually laid-back, in jeans, and just plain friendly. Sometimes I know exactly what I need, sometimes I don't. When I ask for help, I get it. To all of those who have claimed to have experienced rude sales associates at PE, please consider the attitudes you might have projected when shopping. I have found all of their employees, particularly Gina and Jan, to be respectful, professional, and classy. Gina does the best brow wax I've ever had, and the ladies in the cosmetics shop are knowledgeable about their products and always have great suggestions. Then again, I always go in with a relaxed, confident, respectful demeanor and I will continue to frequent the store even though I'm far from wealthy. When I went into Private Edition for a facial recently, I was so excited. However, afterwards, it took over a month for my skin to clear up. The glycolic peel made my skin react in a not-so-nice way, so be careful. I will try another salon next time. more

I have been shopping at Private Edition for over 14 years. They have always been one of the only places in Nashville to get great upscale products. But I must also say that their service has been even better. I have been there with an unlimited budget and a shoe string budget. There was never any difference of treatment. I have found that many people have a different theory of Customer Service and based on their own insecurities and ""fluctuating"" moods, they decide that someone isn't giving them their ""propers."" I was disappointed to find that the thousands of happy customers of Private Edition are letting a few disgruntled human beings cloud the perception of this wonderful boutique. I have read some of these reviews, and I am horrified! You women obviously do not know what you are talking about! The staff of PE is amazing! I am a college student, so I am not covered in jewels, or furs, and the staff treats me with kindness and respect. They are there to serve us. I love Gina!!! I have been to this store about six times, and only once treated civilly. I train horses, and sometimes don't have time to get my mink out of the vault, and the limo is often times at the carshow. I guess that is why they ignore me, and make me feel like I don't have the right to have pretty and expensive products. I guess they were brought up in a barn, because anyone with class would not behave in that manner. I learned a long time ago not to judge the book by it's cover....this guy rolled up in an ancient rattling rusted pickup truck and plunked down $175,000 bucks for a horse....imagine if I had blown him off and refused to show him the horse????!! I love the products but the people are horrendous. I was there recently and because I had failed to don my designer gown they would not give me the time of day. I stood for at least 10 minutes waiting to be rung up, while a person behind me had 3 people waiting on her and another was at the register playing around. They acted like it was such a chore to get me some lip gloss and I finally had to ask to be rung up and they acted like they hadn't even seen me. I may be young, I may not be dripping with jewels, but if they only knew how much I spent on cosmetics. They are the snottiest, rudest people I have ever encountered in a store. Guess what, you work in NASHVILLE, not on Rodeo Drive. Woo Cosmetics is a much more welcoming place. Private Edition is a nice place, good staff with good location (except parking) yet the products created here and used on the clients are not time proven products. They are very trendy and not well researched or tested. I've had more than one friend/family member that has been over treated with Alpha Hydroxy and other serums and have actually left with facial burns and abrasives ... yet they still think the place is cool. Overpriced and undertested products is my opinion. I don't care how cool the location or clientel, my first priority is my skin - don't let them put any of their stuff on yours!
