Editorial review from Citysearch 1/7/2014

This club is so poorly run and should do us all a favor and close down or sell to a company that cares, for the last 4 years it has had managers turn over every year, all major system breakdown, building is so neglected and filthy, they constantly say they are going to renovate which means fix the heating, never new classes , new equipment, now they are planning on renovating in january, painting, just took more classes away in january, no energy left all the great Instructors are gone , so if you want an old, aging , zero life left in it club then this is for you. more

The Point Athletic Club 4/7/2011

After passing the Point several times on Van Gordon, I decided to finally take a look inside to see what they have to offer. I was very pleased with the customer service. It was refreshing to see genuine smiles and hospitality. When they took me around the club on a tour, they explained all of the free classes they had to offer, the swim lessons, the Kid's Sports Camp, a nursery and the basketball leagues. They have many cardio machines, and weight machines. Overall I was very pleased with everything I saw. They have a lot to offer for such reasonable prices. My family and I have now joined and are very happy with everything so far! more

I was cautious due to previous reviews! 11/5/2010

The Point has been under construction for a good while, however, the renovations being made are very nice. There have been zero issues with billing/contract, but as long as you READ the paperwork you're signing you will be ok. The biggest plus to The Point is the size of the building/number of machines and the hours they are open, you never have to wait to get a machine! more

Best Gym and Best Price 1/13/2008

The Point offers so many classes you just want to take them all!\r They are all free with your membership, their equipment is always clean and up to date. more

Sneaky billing 9/17/2007

The Point and ASF International (the Point's billing service) are very sneaky. Read the fine print before agreeing to a membership. Terrible customer service all around! more

Julie is so NOT crazy! 9/27/2006

I have belonged to The Point for over 3 years and Julie treats me and everyone else so well and have had nothing but positive experiences. The instructors at The Point are the best in town and have the highest credentials. The staff is awesome and nothing short of helpful. As far as Gary the cleaning guy, it seems cleaner since he's gone. Julie spends alot of time at the gym because she is personally vested in the company and crazy about being in shape. I think maybe you guys just are sour grapes because you can't afford a nice place to workout and are jealous of those of us who can. I'll be a member until that poor old building falls apart! more

Great customer service and low fees 9/27/2006

I guess I am a little crazy to keep the rates so low for tennis year round and have the largest selection of classes in a well maintained facility. Most of our equipment is new we keep some of the old pieces because our members like them. The instructors and trainers I hire are the best in town. more

They're trying but eh... 9/21/2006

In addition to the crazy manager (she is crazy, I think she's spent too much time in a gym) the equipment is pretty worn and dated. The whole club just has a slum feel to it. Poor lighting, horrible ventilation. Every time I was in the upstairs weight room it was too warm and smelly. They're putting a new face on the outside but I haven't seen any improvements to the interior. Their spin instructors are pitiful. I usually go at night so I don't know if the day staff is more friendly or not. Hard to tell as the front desk staff sit behind a nearly 5' high wall. Pros: You won't have to wait for equipment Cons: lack of ventilation, rates, age of equipment more

Awesome! 8/10/2006

I belonged to this gym for two years and I loved it! It is so large that it is never crowded. All of the equipment is in great shape and they have tons of classes to choose from. Also since it is so big, there is always plenty of room for stretching or whatever. The personal trainers are friendly and professional and the locker room is always clean. The price is pretty reasonable also. I wish I hadn't moved so far away! PROS: clean, up to date equipment, lots of room CONS: none more

The manager Julie is CRAZY 7/25/2006

The club itself is ok, not great, but just ok. Sometimes the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. About 2 years ago they had a very devoted and good janitor, I think his name was Gary or Jerry and she had him fired. She lied about him to his company and the company fired him. She also promises things to some of the members but doesn't keep her word. I have been a member for 7 years now and to be honest the only reason I stay is because of the inside tennis courts, surely not because of her. more
