I went twice, once with friends, 2nd time my wife wanted to try it. Ordered Panang Curry first time. I thought it was horrible, no flavor. Soup was bland. Tried another Curry ...

Dishonest! 1/4/2012

BEWARE! Make sure you get what you paid for! They are dishonest! The manager would not correct our order even though it was wrong. They ran out of one of the key meat ingredients in our togo order and instead of letting me know while I waited in their restaurant, they just gave to me an incomplete meal instead of telling me and giving me the option to change my order! Later when I got home and found that one of the key meat ingredients was missing, I called them and they admitted they ran out of that meat but still went ahead and gave it to me without the meat as if nothing was wrong. We asked them to replace the meal the next time we ordered something togo and they refused. They are willing to cheat the customer for profit. It's a terrible place, deceptive, and rude. Don't go there! more

Food was bland, and they over charge me big time 5/29/2011

Not only was I not thrilled about the food, they over charged me like 4 times more than what I should pay. This is not how a restaurant should run!! What a rip off :/ more

Awful 9/27/2010

Pho is mediocre. Chicken fried rice was bland. Service was the worst... more

Worst Pho 1/17/2010

This is the worst Pho I've had in a long time. We wanted to try this place instead of our usual Vietnamese spot and were sorely disappointed. Also, they don't even serve Bahn Mi (a must in my eyes for a Vietnamese restaurant). Don't go here. If you want delicious Vietnamese food, traverse across the street to Green Basil. Pros: None that I could see Cons: Crowded, Mediocre service more

now closed 12/15/2008

while this was a really good Thai/Vientnamese place it closed recently and is replaced by a Pho type vietnamese restaurant. shame we don't have that many good Thai places more

Best Thai Place inTown !!! 6/15/2007

We have tried just about all the Thai restaurants in the Raleigh and this little jem is the best there is. The food is consistently outstanding. The curries (especially Panang Gai ) are light and flavorful. Spice level is conveniently based on stars ( we get our curry with three stars and as spicy as we like it without searing your tastebuds numb ). Stirfries are excellent ( best Thai basil chicken--- not too sweet--- than any restaurant from Raleigh and their noodle dishes are also delicious. Try the Pad Kee Mao or Pad Se Ew-- they are all very good. This restaurant is exceptional because everything we've tried is what I call a"" repeeat "" because I would gladly order it again and again. The service is always very fast and friendly. Its humble atmosphere just adds to the absolutely no pretention. Just great food and equally great service !! Pros: Excellent Food and Service more

The Best Thai Food Around 6/15/2007

I've eaten at so many different Thai restaurants and this is by far the best. The restaurant is very clean and the people are pleasant and friendly. The food was excellent !!! It was so wonderful to have all the different fresh vegetables in my panang curry. We also ordered the basil fish, Pad Thai, so good ! We were scraping the plates. The food tasted fresh and was cooked to perfection. The desserts were even more delicious. We had the Fried Banana with Coconut Ice Cream and the Sweet rice with Coconut Ice Cream. Best I've ever had ! Our kids loved it and we won't go anywhere else again when we want some ' real ' good Thai food. Presentation was also very nice. Pros: Best Thai/ Good Price more

Pristinely fresh, delicious Thai Food. 6/14/2007

Lavie is the best Thai restaurant I've found in over six years of living in the city. Everything is prepared to delight your eyes as well as your plate. Their Tom Yum Gai soup is tinglingly spicy and full of tender, carefully deveined shrimp, and their main dishes use superior quality meats and vegetables presented beautifully. Standouts include a salmon with pannang curry, Their lunch specials include Vietnamese style summer rolls, and rice with your choice of entree and are too big for most people to finish. Spicy usually really means spicy here, so request it only if you mean it. I am really shocked by the bag review I found here--it actually inspired me to write in and share my many positive experriences I've had eating here or bringing food home. It's the cleanest tasting, most artfully executed and best Thai food I've had in Raleigh. I've been to many Thai places in city, but Lavie is fantastic and consistent. Judging by the masse of people who've also found this place and have made it so popular for dining in and takeout. I'm not alone. Pros: Innovative, delightful food, war and attentive service; if you love hot food you can really get it here Cons: It's small space more

Pan Asian?? 4/24/2007

Another restaurant in the area trying to be everybody. Thai/Vietnamese/Sushi??? I went there with several clients (not my choice). I ordered a Pad Thai and the waiter is pushing a sell on their sushi. The Pad thai tasted like ketchup and rice noodle and the sushi looks like half cooked. Not going back there again even it is free. Pros: Parking Cons: Food more

Quick Service, good basic thai/vietnamese food 7/6/2006

I work next door to La Vie and have been eating lunch there for about 1-2 years now. I've found their service to be responsive and their food very good. They're definitely not a 5 star restaurant with mood lighting and soft pastels on the wall, but if you want good and quick thai/vietnamese food, they're one of the best. more

Most overrated Asian food in town- not kidding! 6/17/2006

Very unusual for me to spend time writing a review, but our recent experience here was so god-awful I decided to share it. Sat for 21 minutes before someone even offered water - no embellishment. A party of of four next to us with children got up and left without getting served. Spring rolls, recommended by others, were bland and slightly soggy. Beer was room temperature, ok if you're from UK...worst foul was the very fatty chicken, like a cheap Chinese restaurant, and the meals were all cool - left us asking what's the 9.5 for...? Say la vie and look elsewhere for authentic Thai or Vietnamese food in the triangle. Instead had a great (excellent Japanese food!) at Waraji. Pros: inexpensive, but... Cons: ...you get what you pay for here. more

Not one of my favorites for Thai 6/7/2006

I went twice, once with friends, 2nd time my wife wanted to try it. Ordered Panang Curry first time. I thought it was horrible, no flavor. Soup was bland. Tried another Curry dish and it was bad as well. My firends didn't dislike it, but my wife agrees with me and doesn't want to go back. Many better restaurants in area if you want Thai food. Im sure the service was friendly and ok, but I really don't remember. Cons: bland more

Bad service 4/27/2006

their service is slow and the pho is really bad too... more

Best in Town! 2/11/2006

BEST Tofu I have ever had (lived all over U.S. and Japan) - crisp, not 'eggy' delicious marinade. Clean, affordable, VERY healthy. I have wasted much time and food trying to replicate their dishes at home. Try thier Mussuman curry, fresh spring rolls, Evil Jungle Prince. Their rich coffee comes with sweetened milk. I have 10 different kinds of peanut sauce at home... theirs is the the best and if I could, I would buy it to take home! Pros: healthy, mega variety, complex flavors more

Its true what they say 12/3/2005

Nothing really needs to be said here, but I wanted to confirm that the good reviews for this place really are true. I have been very happy with the food and the service. more

My favorite place for Asian food in the Triangle 8/13/2005

I have been going here for a long time. My husband and I love to order fresh spring rolls. I love the Pho Ga. My husband usually gets curry off of the Thai menu. The beer is cold. The service is good. The prices are very reasonable. Pros: Parking, Food, Service Cons: Space between tables more

Great Food, Excellent Service 7/30/2005

I had the Pad Thai, which was delicious and contained six medium sized shrimp and my husband had the Green Curry with chicken. I selected ""spicy"" which was actually fairly mild, my husband chose just one category up - ""extra spicy"", he enjoyed it but it was way too hot for me. In addition, we had the coconut soup w/ chicken (Excellent!) and fresh spring rolls that were so fresh, you would swear the ingredients were just picked from the garden. Service was attentive and efficient. I would highly recommend this restaurant for tasty, affordable (two lunch entrees and two appetizers just under $25 including tip), Thai food. Next time, I want to try the Vietnamese cuisine. Pros: Delicious Food, Great Service more
