With the big chain drugstores all over the place, it's pretty rare to see a mom and pop type shop still around. It's old fashioned, but they have a lot of things you may need. It kind of reminds me of the stores in classic black and white movies. It's good to have them right in the middle of such a busy area of the city. Whether it's a pack of gum, aspirin or some foot insoles (to soothe your hurting feet from a day of Oak park shopping!) this is the place to visit. more

Small old-fashion pharmacy 7/22/2005

Peterson's is a charming little pharmacy located on Lake Street in Oak Park. It is such a shock to be recognized and treated well, instead of herded like cattle. This is no big-chain, trust me. Privately owned and operated for many years, you can see some of the history of the location in the front windows of the shop. They even deliver...which is an amazing bonus for someone housebound or disabled. They of course don't have the selection of the hours of the big chains, but for your everyday prescriptions they are fabulous! more
