The Harvey House is a wonderful bed and breakfast in Oak Park, Il, one block away from the train. We decided to stay in this bed and breakfast instead of staying in an hotel right in the city. I am so glad we did. It's only a short drive into Chicago and the owner, Beth, gave us wonderful directions.
The building is beautiful and Beth is wonderful. We felt like we knew her for ages. She is super friendly and hospitable. Guests sign up for the time they would like their breakfast served and Beth prepares a gourmet breakfast just for you! If we are in the area again, we would surely return! Highly recommended!

The Carleton is a pretty nice hotel that's located right in the middle of downtown Oak Park. It's a great place to stay if you want to be close to Chicago without actually staying in the city, or if you want to have a quick getaway weekend without going very far. The hotel is old (they call it "historic"), but well-kept. The rooms are clean, spacious, and modern, with coffeemakers and Internet ports available in each one (in the main building). Overall, I think it's a bit expensive, but a nice place to stay.

The Write Inn is just 2 blocks up Oak Park Ave from the Lake St. El stop. It is a nice hotel with a cute bistro downstairs. The rooms are typical, nice and clean. Be careful though, one of the times I stayed here it was full and I got one of the rooms they let out long term, and it was very dingy and smelled smoky.

The Carleton is a quaint little hotel near downtown Oak Park. It's a bit expensive for my tastes (more than $120 per night) considering what you get in return. But the location makes up for the price a little bit. The hotel is in walking distance to a lot of restaurants and some tourist attractions.
