In it you can get some real insight into how his vision evolved in the twenty years he lived here.
A high point is visiting the children's playroom. The arched ceiling, the leaded glass windows in the treetops, the balcony make for a memorable space.
Wright was one of the century's most influential architects. It is worth the visit to see the place where he lived and worked for years.

One year I needed my bike restored and came acroos a bike shop called Barnard's Schwinn at 6109 W North Ave,Oak Park, IL. Boy! was I surprised on the layout of bikes and parts and even restored bikes ready to be picked up.
I cannot believe the knowledge these two brothers have when it comes to Schwinn bikes. I feel I came across the perfect place to go to when I have a question. I feel they have great personaliies
and a great place to hang out and enjoy what ever they are doing.
They make you feel like you are part of there family.Great Place

My wife and I had a really nice experience at this old school running shop in Oak Park. The staff is is awesome and willing to go the extra mile with fitting and recommending the best shoes. My wife loves ASICS and I am a SAUCONY guy. Competitive Foot had everything from these brands and we were pleased. The clothing was good too, an excellent selection.

Oak Park has a very good youth baseball program. That's why their high school teams consistently do very well in the state tournaments (OPRF High School Girls' Softball team are '05 State Champs). You can find a baseball or softball team to fit your child's age group and skill level. They have standard Little League rules in place, so your child is guaranteed a certain amount of playing time in each game. I played in the softball leagues for more than 10 years. I had a lot of fun and learned important lessons about teamwork and competition.

Lindsey Gallery has, in my opinion, one of the best collections of artistic jewelry in Oak Park. They offer pieces from a diverse array of artists (local and international artists). Although at times the prices seem quite high to me, some of the pieces seem to be worth the higher price since they are mostly hand crafted and original. The Gallery also has a variety of decorative items and is even featuring a dollar table. Parking is easiest on North Blvd, just near the El.

This place is very trendy and every time you go in, expect to have a professional job done well onto your hair. They are truly wonderful colorists and stylists. They are a bit pricey, but I do believe that they are well worth it. They have many amenities that they perform here. There are people to do nails, pedicures, facials and much more. Call ahead though to make an appointment because they do tend to become crowded especially towards the weekends. Expect first class service all the way.

I have taken several art classes from the Park District of Oak Park and have enjoyed them all. Although the current fall schedule (2005) seems to be a bit light on the art offerings, what they do have is well worth the time and money. If you have ever wanted to take ceramics, for example, you will find that the Park Districts price is much lower then local art studios or colleges. The cost of the class also includes open studio time and materials. the instructors are fairly good- although they don't offer too much guidance and then don't assign projects. So if you like working independently you will enjoy the atmosphere.
