It was nice to finally find a Chinese restaurant that stands out. The service was perfect and helpful through their many menu options. I am a Kung Pao Chicken fanatic and cannot find many placed that do it right. Spicy!! No doubt about it, and full of flavor. Huge, lean and moist chicken, fried rice was done right and the Hot and Sour Soup topped off the good meal.
Trust me on this one, if you have the Chinese food craving, stop in for a great meal at a reasonable price.
Pros: Try the Kung Pao anything

This place is amazing! The food is beyond wonderful, the service is amazing, and it's simply like nothing I've ever eaten! It's considered Mexican, but it is not your typical Mexican restaurant. To quote the owner/chef (who is the cutest man I've ever seen!) OH MY GOD! It's just wonderful and you have to experience it to truly grasp the greatness!
Pros: Service, food, atmosphere

Philander's is a long-standing Oak Park. The atmosphere is upscale and the entrées are a bit pricey. The restaurant is located in The Carlton Hotel, and often you will find great entertainment featured. The menu features steaks and seafood and a handful of amazing salads. Valet is also available for busy times, and I would recommend making reservations for a holiday of weekend.

Seriesely unique. Eastgate is a small Boutique/Cafe nestled in Oak Park with both European and American influence, and open 7 days from early morning to late evening - with dining indoor or outdoor. But, BOUTIQUE is something else - carefully choosen all home accessories around the world, all food hostess gifts absolutely uniq (oliv oil, metal plates, jam, books...). The store owner is one of the nices women I've ever met and without a dought she seems to be somebody who will do what it takes to make her customer happy. And if you are wondering just where to get the best "Spinach with Feta Cheese Soup and a half Vegetarien Sandwich" for only $6.99 check the website for Eastgate cafe. Cool, cool, cool place! Grate boutique, charming cafe with exotic desserts, classic gourmet meals, good wine.Place is for sure SECRET HIDEAWAYS.

Say, I met the love of my life at Philander's in 1995 although I didn't know it at the time (married in 2000).
Whenever in Oak Park a bunch of us will head over to the Carleton and Philander's, you bet. Matter of fact, time to go there this winter.
Friendly folks, great music, good foods, excellent drinks and fine service-maybe romance. What more could you ask for in a place that's great? Well, it offers even more than that!
The music is a mix, lots of jazz and blues, some swinging bands, featuring outstanding local musicians like John Wright, Sami Scott, and more. People seem to dance a lot here and you don't have to be shy in asking someone to dance (I wasn't and oh, la, la!). First visited in 1971, memories revisted often. Go!

This place is an option for a light snack while visiting this charming town of Oak Park. There are many shops and places to eat in their downtown area, and Cosi has now been added to my growing list. I love to visit Oak Park, there are so many facinating places to visit here. They are a chain which means the food will be pretty much the same at all of them, and in this case, that's a good thing. Top quality ingredients, interesting selection and a very clean and attractive dining area.
