Petersens is the classic summer night out diner. Its 13% butterfat ice cream is the key to its success. I have spent countless summer nights at Petersens chowing down a cone or two. Meanwhile, its restaurant portion lacks the superiority its ice cream "" has. I ate one meal there and swore never to return to that "side" of the shop again. My burger (and 5 of my friend's) was pretty bad - soggy bread, overcooked meat, the list goes on...

With Chicago directly to our East and only a green line ride away you might not expect that there is Sushi worth eating in the burbs. Well set your expectations hip because this place will meet them! The setting is intimate (perhaps even a little tightly fitted), but it's worth it! The sushi is fresh and delicious and there is a great selection. Even the non-sushi lovers among us were able to find something delicious to eat. Plus, they deliver!

I love Erik's- they have wonderful sandwiches and they compliment them with homemade fries or chips. I mean really, where else can you get fresh chips these days? They also have a variety of salads and dinner selections and desserts. The atmosphere is friendly and they have a big window right off the street for the people watchers out there.

Geppetto's is a nice little Italian restaurant. They have excellent pizza and awesome sandwiches. The seating area in the restaurant is very limited, so I wouldn't count on getting a table without a reservation during peak evening and weekend hours. That being said, they do offer carry-out and a delivery service, so even if you can't get a table you can still enjoy their great food.

When I first moved into the suburbs I tried many Chinese restaurants and often cried "is there no szechwan in this town? I can't believe we're eating Cantonese". Well I have indeed found wonderful Szechwan- at Szechwan Beijing. Their menu also includes Mandarin and Cantonese styles- and everything I have had here has been fresh and delicious. They have lunch time specials at a great price and a Sunday brunch buffet. There are a few dishes that are a bit pricey, but the cost is reasonable. The are located right off the last green-line el stop, plus they deliver. The Mongolian beef is one of my very favorite dishes- chocked full of fresh mushrooms- yum!

Having moved to a newer remodeled location, Tasty Dog in Oak Park reminds me of the teen-age hangout in “Saved By the Bell”—especially when it’s packed with students from the nearby high school (mainly during lunch and after school). Don’t expect a quiet dining experience when it’s crowded. But when it’s not so loud, it’s a fairly nice place to eat—the new location is definitely a step up from its former (now torn-down) site.
Of course, Tasty Dog is all about the hot dog, and the basic model (ordered with everything) is definitely different than what you might be used to seeing. Basically, everything includes ingredients you’d normally see underneath a hamburger bun: round tomatoes, shredded lettuce (that’s right, lettuce), round pickle slices, spices, mustard, etc. Despite the unusual “construction,” it’s still a pretty good hot dog, which I prefer over their burgers. I also recommend their twister fries for a nice change of pace. Overall, I don’t know if I’m a big enough fan to endorse Tasty Dog over some other fast-food options in Oak Park, but as hot dogs go, it lives up to its name well enough.

Marion Street Grill servers the best fillet in Chicago area! It is a little pricey. A fillet dinner for 2 without drinks or wine runs about $100. The food is served beautifully and the fillet will melt in your mouth. Reservations are required if you go after 5:00PM. This is one restaurant that knows how to prepare and serve food.

Flat Top grill is a place where you create your own bowl of stir fry. You pick out all the veggies, sauces, noodles, rices, meats, etc and put them in your bowl. Then you put some color coded skewers in the bowl, leave it on the counter and the chef frys it on the grill for you. In the meantime while you are waiting you can just hang out with your friends.
Now when your bowl is delivered to you and you realize upon first bite that it doesnt taste good, know that somewhere you didnt add the good sauce and now you have to eat it.
So go with someone who knows what they're doing the first time and dont get a huge bowl the first time. You can get unlimited refills so experiment. Fun place to try out.
Food will be anywhere from good to outstanding depending on your assembling skills.

Their gyros are fabulous! Not too greasy but not dry at all! They have a number of toppings you can add and they are very reasonably priced! I wouldn't get their stuff to go because it does get soggy but they've got tables you can sit outside and eat at!
