Poor animals 6/25/2011

The animals all look miserable. I've never been asked if I needed help with anything when I've been in there. The puppies just sleep and look exhausted and are way overpriced. The birds cages are disgusting. There was a mice cage full of baby mice that weren't being cared for. Most of the fish are kept all alone in their tanks with no plants or anything. They don't look happy and should be in a much nicer environment. They're also overpriced and there's much less of a selection than Petsmart or Petco. The store stinks and the floor is disgusting. I just want to buy all the animals and sell them to another pet store where they will be treated better. This place should be shut down pronto. more

not good 10/4/2009

Cages were nasty. Small animals lived in feces! Mice could not reach water they had to jump and hang on to water to get to it, many mice jumping on top of each other to get to it. Small animals were living in there feces the store reeked of feces. Prices on dogs were HIGH!! unless you plan on showing a dog ADOPT A DOG SAVE A LIFE DONT BUY!! Cons: cages need to be cleaned more

Our experience 7/5/2009

Every since I was a child we've had pets of every kind - this continued as I had my own child. Having instilled my love of animals in him, he had the great fortune to work at PetSmart and the Perfect Pets on Broad Street. I can certainly tell you that if he had experienced or seen any of the atrocities described here, he would have told me shortly after he quit. He had and always has had a deep respect for the owner and manager of PP, for their commitment to animals. I have been in and spent many a time in that store and can say with conviction that I have never found the store to be anything but clean. I have been to the back and seen the birds and they were never cooped up in small cages as told here. I have seen many a puppy there and was always impressed by how well socialized they were, healthy and amiable. A sign of a good breeder. While they have had their problems, and hasn't always had the best employees, PP has always been the local store to go to, their affinity and love of animals very palpable. more

ONE OF THE BETTER PET STORES 1/31/2009

I HAVE BOUGHT SEVERAL ANIMALS FROM THERE AND THEY WERE VERY HEALTHY AND LOOKED WELL CARED FOR. I SAW HAPPY AND ADORABLE PUPPIES WITH FOOD, WATER, CLEAN BEDDING AND TOYS EVERY TIME I HAVE BEEN THERE. THE STAFF IS ALWAYS FRIENDLY AND AVAILABLE TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. THEY ARE USDA LICENSED AND THEREFORE ARE BY LAW ONLY ALLOWED TO BUY PUPPIES FROM USDA LICENSED BREEDERS. USDA CONDUCTS SURPRISE INSPECTIONS TO MAKE SURE THE ARE KEEPING A SAFE, CLEAN AND HAPPY ENVIRONMENT FOR THEIR ANIMALS. I RECOMMEND THEM HIGHLY. THE MANAGER AND HER DAUGHTER ARE WONDERFUL PEOPLE. more

Perfect Pets Is a Nightmare 11/4/2008

Perfect Pets should be put out of business. They advertised they would not sell puppies - a bold face lie. I admit I did buy a puppy from them , because he was the runt of the litter and not safe w/ all the customers' handling. I took the puppy to the vet as required & he told me the pup had worms that are common to DIRTY pet stores. \r \r The store is filthy.. The bird cages are covered with feces, as are the cat cages for felines up for adoption. (Wonder if they get a kick back on that too.) The baby birds in the back are in cramped containers. Most of the time the store STINKS. \r The people there are nothing but money hungry opportunists . My friend bought an exotic animal & was charged $7/day for boarding... When he got the pet home, the cage was full of excretement & urine. What do they do to earn the boarding fee??? Just another way to rip off the public.\r \r I was told the puppy needed eat what he was fed at the store. When I took the him for his vet check, the vet said that this was not the best diet for a puppy & is just expensive garbage!! Perfect Pets is interested in anything for the dollar - not the pets!!!\r \r While there used to be some nice people there, most of the staff now is miserable. There is one young lady there who is very nice & 1 older lady who is occasionally nice. The men look & act like clueless drunks incapable of cleaning cages much less caring for animals. There's a woman ( Dana?) who thinks she knows everything about pets. She's not bright & is NASTY all the time. She acts like she can't wait for her next drink/drug.\r \r Perfect Pets is a nightmare. They should lose their license to sell/adopt pets as well as their business license in general. Money talks...if we do not shop there, with a bit of luck it will just be a bad memory. more

avoid this place like the plague! 4/12/2008

they really do sell puppies from puppy mills! the owner is a drunk who's just after the money and his store managers under him are stoners... if you ever peek into the back kitchen looking area chances are you'll find puppies in cages that have been segregated from the others because their sick or birds shoved to the side in tiny cages till others sell.... any pet store that sells puppies and exotic birds should be avoided... they may look all cute in the ""bird nursery"" window or puppy cage... but in this sort of environment they arent getting the proper care either of the animals need... the puppies are usually lethargic from lack of interaction, and a friend of mine was about to purchase a bird from them, but then it died from being fed wrong... if you can't get puppies from decent breeders and care for them properly or can't employee people who know how to feed birds without killing them... then DON'T DO IT AT ALL!! this place needs to be shut down... it has GOT to be animal abuse! Cons: everything that goes on there more

Beware-This Store Sell Puppies 4/11/2008

This pet store sells puppies. If anyone saw the Oprah Show last week, they know that 99% of all puppies in pet stores come from puppy mills, primarily in the midwest. The first time I was in the store after they started carrying puppies, I asked to see it's papers....sure enough, it was from a ""breeder"" in the midwest. No reputable breeder ever sells to a pet store.\r \r Never buy anything from a pet store that sell puppies. more
