Beloved in Chicago 5/3/2006

This place is very popular with local musicians. Lots of different music classes are offered here. Some famous and semi-famous musicians have attended here. A couple of them now teach classes here. Their reputation for excellence has helped them grow throughout the years so much so that they now have another facility on Lincoln near Wilson. more

Get your folk on! 12/26/2005

Having taken two rounds of guitar lessons and three rounds of wiggleworms with my baby, I can honestly say I can't think of any place I'd rather spend my hard-earned money! Each teacher I have had has been fantastic, and a true lover of both music and teaching. Wiggleworms is fun for babies and parents alike. The teachers all seem to follow the same basic structure for the flow of the class, but change up the songs and games a little bit each week. If your reason for taking the class is to make mommy (or daddy) friends, you'll have to do it on your own time before or after class. Socialization of parents is discouraged during class, as the focus is on the children. Guitar classes are fun and laid back. Depending on the room you're assigned to and how many people decide to show up or join your class as a make-up, it can feel a bit overcrowded at times. For the most part, though, class size was just right--big enough to hide if you haven't practiced enough, but small enough that you can get some individual attention from the teacher. Classes are nice and long too--about 90 minutes, followed by a short break and the Second Half sing/play along. After two rounds of classes, I can play and sing a nice selection of recognizable songs. Don't let the name of the school or the required song book fool you, you'll learn plenty of popular rock music! Based on my positive experiences, I highly recommend OTSFM! more

good music 8/21/2005

Went here for a christmas concert, it was wonderful. The space is great, we were up at the top, but could still see GREAT and hear GREAT. Tickets are relatively cheap too. I highly recommend this place for listening to great music and supporting the music school. Browse their webpage to see if there are any classes you'd like to take! more

Learn Music at the Best Place in Town 8/18/2005

This Chicago institution has been providing music lessons and concerts for all ages for many years. From pre-schoolers to old schoolers, the Old Town School of Music has been educating and entertaining for many, many years. Even if you don't want lessons, there are plenty of concerts to entertain. Folk music is still alive and vibrant, and the Old Town School of Music proves it. more

Voice Lessons 7/19/2005

Old Town School offers music and dance lessons and anything else you can think of. They have some great nights of entertainment. If you are looking to learn a new talent or pick up a new hobby this is a great place to start. The classes usually run about 8 weeks. They also have classes for children. I found my voice teacher through Old Town and I have been so pleased. more
