Novare Salon

I've been going here for 10+ years. No need to keep looking around with these girls.They are expert at cut/color. I know that they go to the expense and trouble of continuing their training and staying on trend with tops in the industry in NY. I wasn't blessed with perfect hair but Yvette does wonders and I'm complimented often. All credit goes to her, believe me. They are lovely, lovely women as well. If you've been looking for a stylist, look no further, this is the place for you =) more

To be honest I wasn't unhappy about my hair cut, but didn't care for the atmosphere. It seemed like their was tension between the girls and they barely talked or even looked at one another. It really affected my experience. When I go get pampered I want to feel good, not uncomfortable. I won't be back... more

After years of searching for a stylist I can actually trust and rely on, I have finally found Dani at Novare. I have been to more than ten salons in the Portland area and have always left disappointed - not only did I not connect with the stylist, but they didn't really LISTEN to me. I can't think of a single time that I didn't leave the salon and go home to restyle my hair after a cut and color. Not at Novare. It's a small and cozy shop (a nice change from the huge and echoey hair-factories downtown) that retains refreshing professionalism and amazing talent. Dani took one look at my hair and knew exactly what to do. She asked me tons of questions to get a feel for what I really wanted, made some suggestions and totally delivered. I have very long naturally curly hair that always feels frumpy. But Dani was able to give me a romantic, edgy cut using long layers and the color was PERFECT. Beachy, golden blonde without being obvious. Every time I step into Novare I know I'm going to be taken care of. It's such a relief! Thanks Dani!!! more

Let me just tell you that this place is not just any other salon, it truly is an incredible place! The ladies at Novare are there for you. They hear what you ask for and bring it to a whole other level that leaves you breathless. Before I started going to Novare, I went to many salon's all over town. I couldn't find the right place and didn't really connect with anyone. The first time I went to Novare there was instant connection. I've since had the pleasure of getting my hair done by quite a few of the stylist there and have loved it everytime. The ladies there are so beautiful, down to earth, and are well educated in the latest trends and styles. They are exclusively Bumble and Bumble as well. I would highly recomment this place to children and all the way to adults. They can give you the classic look or a more edgy look. The woman who worked on me knew that she wouldn't be able to give me the red color I wanted when she first looked at my hair but didn't tell me until she had already started the process of lifting my old color out. By then it was too late to change plans. She said she understood when I explained where I wanted the red color placed but then put it where she wanted it not where I asked for it to be. I also told her I needed more shape to my hair and some softness around my face but I came out with the same cut I've had for years (which I had been giving myself at home for free!). They may be great if you want a fairly standard do, straight out of a fashion magazine but if you want something on the different side, look elsewhere. I feel it was definitely a waste of my money. Pros: Friendly people, nice atmosphere Cons: Didn't get the cut or the color I asked for more

excellent hair dos, although the name of this salon has changed to novare. Christine is the best hairdresser to ever touch my hair. the color is fantastic and the design of this place is very beautiful, done by christine and her husband, who owns sellwood cycle repair. Yvette is also a good stylist. Can be difficult to get in but worth the wait. more
