Ooo la la! 7/30/2002

Everything about Margot is unique and comfortable. The food beautifully combines many culinary styles and we loved that you can look into the kitchen and see Margot working her magic. The most important thing to remember is to NOT deny yourself dessert...the Blueberry Port Wine Cinnamon Cake will change your life! Pros: unique recipes, subtle lighting, Provencial decor Cons: no vegetarian menu more

Go, go to Margot 7/25/2002

Intimate romantic setting with excellent food--try the marinated olives--what a delightful dish to have found by chance. Steak surpassed expectations and the fish was exquisite. Upscale wine list Pros: Romantic, Intimate, Timely reservations Cons: limited parking more

Five Star Mania with a Dreamscape Chaser 7/23/2002

I crazy to get back to Nashville as often as possible just to go to Margot for the best food in town and without about a major competitor as one of the best restaurants in the country. I go with friends, I take business associates and sometimes I just go there on a Saturday night, sit at the bar, have a great glass of wine or the best cosmopolitan in the world, relax, have a great dinner, and go home and have the sweetest dreams. Every dish is a favorite-fresh, robust and specially prepared. Pros: Reasonably Priced, Inviting, Personality Cons: Closing Time, Closing Time, Closing Time more

Nashville Beware, 6/16/2002

This is a real restaurant. Not an all-you-can-eat fried food warehouse. Margot offers fresh regional products at market prices. We were seated promptly and served wonderfully by a talented waiter. The tomato bread salad was the most incredible appetizer I have ever eaten and left me wanting more. But, those ""starters"" aren't supersized for a reason, I generally save room for my entree. I admit the menu is limited, but limited because of seasonal and regional availability. Do you want slop? If you are looking for big portions and sub-par ingredients, go somewhere else. If you don't want to be disappinted by a bland, boring entree, DON'T ORDER CHICKEN. It is a menu ""safety"" for people like you have no interest in being epicurially adventurous. One tip, work on the desserts. My blood orange sorbet was dynamite, but my husband's chocolate torte was dry and crumbly. Pros: Flavorful food, Atmosphere, Service Cons: Parking, Desserts more

we in the hood 6/4/2002

Tonight was Margot's official opening anniversary. We who live in the hood are very thankful that she cooks in our turf. We have never had a bad dinner at Margot, and it seems that her touch becomes more deft with time. Tonight we had a small error in service, which was graciously corrected without the smallest of fuss. The wine pours are generous by Nashville standards, and the food concept and preparation are second to none in this town (or several larger cities in the region). Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and a neighbor as well! I don't mind waiting to eat at Margot's house --- if she runs out of something, she'll devise a dish equally yummy. more
