Maggiano's Little Italy

The service was terrific - the food was very good - the price was more than reasonable - I would go back here in a heartbeat and I would recommend it to anyone staying in downtown Philly. Terrific value. Two of us had dinner - great salads + good/very good veal - glass of wine - all for around $60. more

I would give this place a ZERO star if I could. We arrived at 5:45pm with a 2 and 3 year old. We ordered the food quickly, the food came out for the kids wrong so they went back and re-made their meal. 40 minutes after kids food came out and we asked 3 times where OUR food was the Manager came out of the kitchen and said ""What do you want from me"". I replied ""MY FOOD"". Can anyone tell me where my food was?? He went in back to check and said it would be out in less than 5 minutes, after 10 minutes I said we are out of here, I will take our food to go. To make a long story short, we finally got our food (10 minutes later) to go but only after the manager continued his nastiness. I would NEVER go back there again. more

What a mistake. For the quality and quantity of food this would have been overpriced at half of what I paid. $25 for a chewy tough veal marsala that tasted like it was microwaved and thrown into some gravy. Our party (4) shared what they called an Italian tossed salad. Again over priced and featured mostly lettuce. I feel like such a fool for paying these jokers that much money. Classic Italian setting approaches tacky. Food overpriced for a chain restaurant, but good. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo, Broccoli. The pasta was made fresh on location and the sauce was almost as good as mom’s. The service was prompt and the waitress cute. More of a place to take mom and pop than a date. I've been to this location twice and both times were for birthday dinners. The first time, we ordered the fixed priced family dinner and it was fantastic! We all got to take home some leftovers and I think we all had a very good time and ate tons of food. The second time, we just ordered several dishes and shared, which was great since we got to try a little bit of everything. We were invited to a birthday party for a friends daughter. Everything was so wonderful - the atmosphere, the food, the service, the ambiance, the history, the pictures on the walls, etc. - that we took our own children back the very next weekend. They loved it!! The portions of food are out of this world! We thought we had our favorite italian restaurant before, but now we have a new one. We highly recommend Maggiano's for all ages and all occasions. Pros: Everything! Cons: With it being so good, it gets a little crowded. But we were seated rather quickly. more

With all the incredible authentic Italian restaurants in Philly, why would anyone waste their time eating in a chain joint like this? The food was lousy, the drinks were watered down, the service was pathetic and the place is expensive. Basically this place is an Olive Garden on steroids, price included. One out of five stars is being generous for this clip joint. more

My daughter and I (21 and 46) were in Philly for one night and staying in the nearby Marriott. We asked the desk for a dining suggestion within walking distance where we could go casually dressed and without hesitation the response was Maggiono's. We arrived around 6PM on a weeknight and were promptly seated. Our food was wonderful! Our server suggested that we order the half portions of our selections, and upon seeing the volume of food, we were glad she did! Everything was nicely presented and hot - nothing worse than cold pasta. We were a little surprised that there was no side salad included with the meal; although we received more food than we could eat, I do like to have a small salad accompany my meal. We were served bread, also nice and warm, but I did not care for the dipping oil - it seemed almost like straight vegetable oil; not at all what I would have expected but the rest of the meal was so wonderful that it was easy to overlook this.\r \r Our server made our experience even more pleasant. She asked if were were celebrating an occasion, which we were not but we did mention that we were from out of town and asked if she had any tips on local shopping. She provided some good references for us, as well as some helpful travel tips. \r \r We had no idea that Maggiano's is a 'chain restaurant' until we got our receipt. We thought we had stumbled upon a neighborhood gem - and I guess we did! more

Recommend you go. Not for the romance, but the Family Feeling. Loud. Brightly lighted. I had never been here before. We were a party of two; seated immediately on an Oct Saturday nite at 6pm. The place was already filling up. We both ordered off the October Specials Menu - Butternut Raviolio was great. Bracsiole (sp?) was exactly as I remembered as a kid. Coffee was a bit 'over cooked' - been on hte hot plate too long. We ordered a fried shrimp dish, I think from the main menu - which was a bit disappointing - I cannot recall the dishs' name. Our waiter, Emilio, basically left us alone - almost to the point of me having a feeling of 'self service restaurant' - ""read the specials menu yourself"". I noticed other waiters were more attentive to their tables - explaining and answering patrons' questions. The bus boys were great - refilling water glasses, and clearing the table. \r Funny - when the check came I gave Emilio a credit card. He came back with the credit card receipt and explained to sign one copy and keep another for myself, wished us a nice weekend and reminded me to take my credit card. I'm no young pup, it wasn't my first time using a credit card. It was the way he explained 'how to' - with effort and so deliberately - I realized at that moment he was either a very new waiter; new to our country (??); whatever ... a 'lite went off' possibly explaining why Emilio never made a positive presence of himself. The best and questionable place to go. I dined the first time during a lunch time group retirement party in March and the food was so tasty that I wanted to return. It was all good. The riggatoni alfredo with broccoli to the Salmon and it was the Chicken and Spinach Manicotti that got me since I'm non-italian but love many cultural foods. My second time there for lunch I ordered the chicken and spinach manicotti, which took a while, maybe 25mins or so, even though me and my buddy were among the first to get there and then it showed up a touch burnt on one edge but enough for me eat since I didn't have time to order anything else. I give a high rating because I didn't have time to reorder. They allowed to eat what I could and removed it from the tab. I will give them another chance because it's too fine of a place and atmosphere not to. I say try it at least once and maybe with these reviews they'll up the overall service. Was in Philly for a quick weekend - lots of running around all day and so decided on a quick take out of ""quality"" Italian. I stopped in Maggiano's on Filbert and got a small filet mignon to go, along with some garlic bread and a house salad. I must say that the steak was good - rare, as ordered and very tasty. However, the steak came with absolutely nothing along side except some fried onions on top. For the price ($28.00) there should have at least been a side salad, fries, something..... The house salad was good, but the garlic bread - oh God - awful! Tasted fishy, like someone used some anchovies on it or too close to it. Anyway - I would not go back there - I ended up throwing the entire order of bread out (and it wan't cheap either). The steak would be worth it if they threw the house salad in with it - but alone - hell, I can get one cheaper at Smith and Wollensky's in Manhattan! P.S. While the young lady at the take out desk was very cordial - the order took forever! Pros: Grill item was good, service accomodating and courteous. Cons: Italian item was awful, pricey. more

My husband takes me to Maggiano's on our wedding aniversary. The food is great everytime we come it is an experience. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to try something different. Pros: Ambiance, Service, parking, Thumbs up! more

What a disgrace....a restaurant with ""Little Italy"" in the title... Their food was NOT fresh at all. My food was slightly warm at best. Their oil for for bread dipping was bland. The service was horrible... I am shocked. I mean it isn't just one thing that turns me off about this place, it is numerous things. I do not mind spending money for good food....they have guts charging what they do for their portion sizes and freezer burned entrees! We didn't do family style, there was 4 of us and we each got our own entree...The other three were not impressed either so that makes 4 people who will NOT be returning here. more

I recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone I know going to Philly. I love: the brushettsa (oven roasted tomatoes, thick parmesean shaving, fresh basil, wondefule bread) the fresh mozerrella and tomato appetizer (melt in your mouth) the clamari (soft and perfectly coated) the crab cakes and lump and fresh- no fillers, the veal raviolis are rich and sinful, teh gnocchi is delicious. I have had the talapia, cheesecake and the tiramisu is huge and amazing. It's good for a romantic dinner and business0- it's such a hugfe reataurant, you'll find a corner you'll love! The two of us arrived at 9:30 p.m. and the restaurant was bustling. Our drink order took a long time to arrive. The second entree never arrived. Our waitress was nowhere in sight. When she finally re-appeared she asked if we wanted anything else before she brought the check. I explained that the veal entree had never been brought. I asked the waitress to box the pasta leftovers. the waitress had no explanation about the missing veal entree and was casual about the whole thing. She brought the check and then disappeared again. When she finally re-appeared, she had forgotten about the left-overs. after a while, she said that the leftovers were mistakenly tossed out. We decided to simply inform the manager of the series of mishaps on our way out. Not surprising, the manager seemed to be as casual about it as the waitress.....i recommend that you avoid maggiano's. more

Be ready for food and lots of it. The staff was very well informed and checked up on some special needs for our last outing in Maggiano's. The water glass never went below half full before getting topped off and we enjoyed all the dishes. The medallions of beef on the family style dining were very good and the waiter got us a second plate before we requested it as it was a popular dish on the table that night. I highly recommend the veal ravoli in a cream sauce, very rich and filling. The place is crowded so I recommend reservations. Be hungry and bring family for an enjoyable time. In the last several years that I have visited Philadelphia, my husband and friends and I have always dined at Maggiano's Little Italy and enjoy it immensely. We come into Philadelphia either to see a particular museum exhibit, flower show or other cultural event, and always top the evening off by dining at this wonderful establishment. I am planning another visit in March 05. more

I went last year and had a wonderful time. Food was very good. Salmon was outstanding. Portions huge. We had the family style menu and portions were unlimited. Drinks a little pricey but o'well. Ambience reminded me of a place where Sinatra might hang out. more

Far exceeds the old Philly standouts. Food, atmosphere and service are all top notch. Even though they are growing nationwide, they still remain consistant and authentic. Number 1 in my book. more
