Small town, homecooked meals in the heart of the city 5/23/2010

I was first introduced to Luna while meeting a friend for dinner in the Dupont circle area. I had never been there before and was intrigued to try out their food. At first glance, Luna's exterior does not stand out as a eye-appealing restaurant in the busy Dupont area, however, upon walking in their front door, the artsy and creative decor will immediately catch your eye. Although the restaurant is smaller than most others in D.C. it has a certain quaint hometown feel about it that reminds me of many other family-owned businesses I have come to love. I have not gone wrong when ordering from their menu. Everything from their brunch specials to their sweet potato fries are sure to satisfy your hunger and leave you wanting to come back for more. During the snowstorm of 2010 a large group of friends and I found comfort in taking a break from the outdoor activities to fill up on home cooked american food at Luna. Their menu includes burgers, pasta, salads, waffles, omelets, tuna melts and club sandwiches. When looking for something low-key, reasonably priced, and a restaurant with spunk and character come to Luna. Pros: homecooked meals at a great cost Cons: quaint feel could mean waiting in line more

Great daily specials! 3/2/2010

Working near Luna allows me to come by on a quasi frequent basis and I have had both good and bad days here... but I have tended to have many more positive experiences here than negative. I tend to stick with sandwiches and pizza when I stop in... especially pizza I swing by on Sunday or Wednesday when all pizzas are half off! I have been meaning to swing by on a Tuesday when all pasta dishes are just $5 (which if you know me is a big step as I tend to stay away form pasta dishes at restaurants... as pasta always seems to be cooked well beyond al dente here in the states and pasta dishes offer a great cover with their sauces for restaurants to dump varying meats that they wouldn't dare plate normally unless covered by the texture and colors of other components). I only break my rule at restaurants I trust and Cafe Luna has so far been nothing but fresh and reliable so here is hoping it stays that way... I shall update. PS this place has a solid happy hour and a late one at that! Pros: Options options and more options Cons: presentation more

Simple Spot in Dupont. 1/21/2010

Luna Grill is good if you're looking for something simple. The menu is not overwhelming and the atmosphere is not intrusive. The food is good, the price is right, and it is usually pretty easy to get a table. There is local art for sale on the walls--some of it is especially unique. When I eat at Luna, I like the Chicken Ceasar Wrap (which disappeared off the menu, but has since returned) or the grilled cheese! Both come with good fries--a MUST. When the weather is nice, there is an outdoor patio in the back. Pros: yummy grilled cheese and fries. magic hat on tap. more

LunchaLunaRex! 1/18/2010

Lunch at Luna - This place was introduced to me as the happiest place on Earth. While it may never win in a head-to-head with Disney Land, it still comes proper in the dining department. I'm a Monte Christo man myself, but that's only cuz I don't like having to pick between brekers and lunch. Pros: Good food, Good Price, Good Atmosphere more
