My favorite menu item is the Che Guevara burrito that includes brown rice, black beans, plantains, sweet potatoes and spicy bbq sauce and pico de gallo. I most always get this and...

Some friends and I stumbled into this place on Belmont in the early afternoon. It was not busy and we sat down at the counter...stared at the people behind the counter...they sta...

New lunch hotspot 6/3/2006

My boyfriend's mom came into town and she is picky about food. We tried laughing planet on 21st. I was skeptical, but I tried the chicken burrito- so good!! I even tried my boyfriend's moms tempeh with barley. I never thought I'd try anything like that or even like it! I recommended laughing planet to everyone at work- its our new fave! Pros: healthy food, cheap, great burritos more

LP on Mississippi is the best!!!!!!!! 5/22/2006

You cant go wrong with the Soylent green w/ pesto and a vegan cappuccino chocolate chip cookie. Seriously. Pros: Healthy , Affordable , Great Service more

Great, reasonably priced place for lunch! 4/20/2006

Laughing Planet is so far one of my favorite burrito places in town. It's not a restaurant, exactly, but rather more like a diner/eatery with very good, cheap food. The Bean and Cheese burrito, at $3.75, is large enough for a whole lunch-time meal and contains excellent whole beans (not pureed mystery substance), good cheese, and various peppers/onions. From what I understand, much of the food is vegan, and the service staff is all friendly. It's more of a ""lunch"" place then a ""dinner"" place, but they're good at what they do. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Food, Not Crowded Cons: Limited Drinks more

So much vegan food! 12/29/2005

Just tried the new one on 21st yesterday and I was very impressed! I didn't realize that at least half the menu is vegan, so it took me a long time to order :) I ended up getting the grilled veggie burrito ($4.75) vegan deluxe style ($2 extra) and it was scrumptious. The menu is big and I can hardly wait to go back and try more! Very friendly service and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. I hope it does well in this neighborhood, so give 'em business! Pros: vegan options, not just burritos, beer more

Local treasure worth a visit! 9/2/2005

(and you'll keep coming back) I won't repeat much of the info in the other reviews-- most seem to be right on target! Bottom line is that Laughing Planet has great food, endless options, and an awesome atmosphere. To top it off, the prices are reasonable and the portions are big. Also keep in mind they have a ""drinks"" menu as well as food-- making fresh juice/smoothies, coffee & tea, and also have a decent selection of bottled beer including organics and microbrews. Plus great sweets like cookies, cake, and even vegan cheese cake! :) Pros: Inexpensive, Good service, Choices (vegan!) more

healthy, fast, yummy 5/20/2005

i love this place for a quick, healthy bite. the southwestern burrito is the best. the daily burritos are always excellent. their hot sauces and salsas are fantastic and varied, and the smoothies are fresh and delicious. the staff is friendly and the outdoor patio is wonderful on a hot day. more

the laughing planet always makes me happy. tons of great options for everyone from vegans to carnivores. and the whole place is super fun, with great staff. At first I was worried that it wouldn't live up to the original (I was for many years a hardcore junkie at the Kirkwood spot) but I swear that every burrito that I have is better than the last. &Never be afraid to try the special -- even if it sounds a little weird, it's 100% tasty every time. Pros: lots of options, fun casual atmosphere more

psychedellic mistake 4/4/2005

i know that one would not be apt to consider ambience when looking for a quick bite for lunch, especially in ""relaxed"" south east, but i was held hostage in discomfort as i entered this establishment last week. it is so distastefully decorated, i don't see how one could stomach a burrito with ""silly face"" smiling vegetables staring you down... more

Smiles all around 9/14/2003

It was awesome, the staff is great and super helpful! It was great that the staff was so patient with us when we were odering, there is such a variety of yummy treats that it was so hard to choose, but we seemed to manage. The smoothies were perfect and we are definately going to go back soon (even though I live in Vancouver)! Pros: food/drinks, comfy/homey, envrnmnt, friendliness Cons: Wanted more but could, not stuff another, bite in my mouth more

worth your time 7/17/2003

LP offers good healthy fare. It also has very good service and friendly staff. The burritos are a bit boring however and could use some spicing up. And while the ingredients are very fresh, the prices are a bit high for a burrito joint. Overall decent, but could really stand an upgrade on offered meats. Grilled turkey or chicken is just a little too boring guys. Pros: healthy, good service Cons: pricey for burritos, limited menu more

Tasty wraps at a good price 2/26/2003

I eat at Laughing Planet probably once a month and I have not yet been disappointed. The service is very friendly, they prepare the food quickly, and they give you a LOT of food for your money. Great for vegetarians or meateaters. And you can play with the plastic dinosaurs. more

healthy reasonable choice 2/13/2003

I wanted to find a good healthy food for dinner and found it at laughing planet. People are friendly and food is good and the price is reasonable. If you are hungry and looking for something to stuff yourself, this is the place. Adding one dollar, you can get mando burrito, the portion is huge. I gurantee you will take at least 1/3 of it home. Vegitarian chilli isn't too impressive. But, Try vegitarian burrito. oh... don't forget to try hot sauce. Pros: big portion, reasonable price, friendly service Cons: street parking more

Hardy Har Har 2/9/2003

Great tasting burrito that just might be good for you, too. High marks for the flavorful and fresh tasting ingredients. High marks for the soft, warm tortilla. High marks for the funky, comfortable atmosphere -- especially nice for people eating alone because there's lots of stools and counters. One of the tastiest burritos I've had in PDX. Pros: Taste great, Healthy, Fun Atmosphere Cons: No Parking, Limited carne more

pleasantly surprised 11/14/2002

When my boyfriend told me he wanted to take me to a burrito place before we went out to a movie I wasn't expecting much. I was very pleasantly surprised however. The food was great and there was some unusual options. The decor was also very fun and casual. Great prices too! I'll definitely go here again. Pros: inexpensive, friendly service more

Vegetarian haven! 9/24/2002

Endless combinations = many great burritos (and some not so great). With the create your own option, it is pretty easy to order a funky tasting burrito, but after a few times, you begin to figure out what you like and what works... and then... burrito heaven! I am addicted to the roasted veggies with sour cream (and black beans substituted). YUM. The ""patio"" outback is cute, the service is always friendly and they start you off with chips and your choice of salsa. The one thing I wish Laughing Planet had in there fillings options: lettuce. I asked once, and they told me it was because they heat the burrito after making it, and the lettuce would wilt. Eh. Still... my favorite place for burritos. Great for vegetarians *and* vegans (soy cheese... vegan sour cream... love it!). Pros: Veg/an friendly, Great food, Chips & Salsa! Cons: Too many choices!, No lettuce... heh more

Not quite ""as big as your head"" 8/4/2002

but still the yummiest burrito in town. And there's so many sauces to try, (all that stuff at the asian market you've always wanted to try but didn't want to buy a whole bottle in case it sucked.) I've munched the Planet as a goofy high-schooler on Kirkwood, and now as just some goofy worker bee Belmont. Eat it! more
