Do NOT Eat here! 9/6/2010

The was the WORST restaurant experience I have ever had! The food took one hour to arrive The pork tenderloin was dry and tough The scallops were chewy and cold The paella had no flavor (and was not hot) The waiter and service were terrible - never an apology. I ended up cancelling the rest of the food order and leaving. With all of the other restaurants in the Inner Harbor, you should never have to eat at La Tasca! more

Horrible food, horrible service 2/3/2009

Seriously shocked at how bad the food and service was. Fried eggplant with quesdo is oily slivers with a country gravy, shrimp and chili/garlic oil is an actual hot vat of oil with shrimp floating in it. rice is overcooked so its mushy and takes on the shape of the bowl or spoon. service is terrible where the waiters forget you are there and seem to be genuinely annoyed at having to take your order and bring you the food. thank goodness you have the view to look at, while you wait and wait and wait. the best thing they are god at are taking the plates of uneaten food away, stacking them high and tight, right at the table with other tables dishes they collect on the way. A really nice sanitary high cuisine classy move, I'm sure. will never go back and i tell all my friends to avoid it. Cons: food, service, parking more

Worst Tapas Ever 1/24/2009

I've never written a review before, but felt i really needed to sign up and really speak about this place. It does not deserve the inner harbor waterfront location with this quality of food. There are restaurant owners that would die for this prime location. The atmosphere was good, the waiter was attentive but the food was so disappointing. My husband and I are big tapas fans and we love paella too. We know what we are ordering. Unlike other diners, we did read the menu correctly but ordered the seafood tapas for 2 at about $47. So we had calamari, mushrooms sauted in garlic and white wine, a spinach salad, fried potato, salmon, grilled shrimp in white sauce, mussels and a veg/rice paella. It was earlier this evening and I am trying to remember the discription. Well, I am not exaggerating when I tell you everything we ate was really pathetic. The rice did seem to be out of a box and was not tastey at all (and everything was barely warm, let alone hot). The mussels were bland, the squid was really, REALLY chewy. The mayo based sauce had like a film on it. The garlic mushrooms were sooo salty and just way to garlicy and i don't think i've ever said that. The salmon was so dry and bland. You could just tell everything was old, not fresh, sitting out. Something right out of a Gordon Ramsey episode. And no thanks to those shows.... you start to picture the kitchen... and well, we could not eat anymore. We felt bad for the waiter so we just told management. He was really nice and wanted us to be happy but honestly I wanted a tour of the kitchen and the place whipped into shape. I wanted someone in that kitchen to be held accountable. It was just unexceptable and a true chef would have been embarrased you would think. It ruined our evening... our dinning experience. People come back for the food. no one comes back because you had good service and nice lighting. It's the food. And this was really bad. more

BAD FOOD!!!! 12/19/2008

This was one of my worst dining experiences ever! My waitress was wonderful and attentive but the food quality is so poor her good service couldnt make up for it. My husband and I orderd 5 tapas to share that were all not great but good enough to eat.\r The paella on the other hand was a mixture of minute rice cooked way to long in a thick tomatoe sauce with frozed green beans and peas. YUCK! It was so bad I did not eat it but ,not one to send things back I did not complain. Big mistake! Come to find out the menu states ""paella for two- $24.95"". What they didnt say is thats per person. When the check comes and I see this I assume the waitress made a mistake but she told me this happens all the time and that managment knows it is misleading but that managment told her ""its not your job to explain the menu or the prices"". I am outraged at being intentionally mislead. Pros: good service Cons: bad food /dishonest buisness more

Spanish wines were good, especially the red 6/10/2008

Sangria not good. Secret ingredient that made it bad seemed to be grapefruit is my guess, Tapas good. More for a light lunch or dinner since there are no regular entrees, just the tapas. Pros: Spanish wines and tapas good. Cons: Sangria bitter. more

Horrible service, unattentive staff, unwelcoming atmosphere, so-so food 1/3/2008

My husband, me and another couple were sitting under a broken air duct at La Tasca on New Year's Eve. It was blowing cold air on us and our waitress and mgmt staff did not care at all. The GM wouldn't even come out to talk to us. They ended up giving us 20% off our bill and 1 free drink ticket each (oh yay *sarcasm*) but it was too late. The waitress was just horrendous?never refilled any drinks - I think she was afraid of us. I mean, we were unhappy, but it wasn't her fault that the air duct was broken. We all sat there in our winter coats - my husband even had his hat on.\r \r The evening would have been saved if the waitress had just cared that we were cold. Even if she hadn't been able to do anything about it, it would have improved our moods if she had done everything in her power to let us know that we mattered. \r \r We will never, ever go there again.\r \r \r more
