Editorial review from Citysearch 9/26/2013

Honestly, this is a great establishment, at the right price, for sure. They love the kids, and show them right from wrong. My ONLY issue is that if we (teachers and parents) want our kids to have a good education, we should first teach them how to speak in a grammatically correct fashion, ie- ""What are you doing?"" VS ""What IS you doing?"" What's wrong with this? One day, as our kids grow up, they should speak properly, not 'slang-ish'. I understand we're all different, but when someone's in an educational profession, they should at least speak correctly, regardless of the race/ethnicity. (And YES, I too am a parent of 'color'.) more

Kings Kids - Worth a Second Look 6/26/2012

I am a mom that commutes in from the suburbs and works in Center City. I looked at TONS of daycare centers before choosing Kings Kids - and here is why I chose it. The building does not look like much from the outside, even sometimes from the inside. BUT, they keep it clean, the kids always seem happy and engaged and the price is right. I hated the daycare centers that felt like cold institutions where everything was neat and tidy and the kids never seemed to be having fun. Kings Kids offers a warm environment for the kids and while I'm not sure they have degrees in education, etc, the teachers do care. I started bringing my daughter here when she was 4 months old. whenever I checked up on her at lunch or when picking her up, she was always smiling. When she saw the teachers in the morning, she always smiles. Since she can't talk yet, her expressions speak volumes. Oh, another nice quality, they allow you 2 weeks unpaid leave for the year - meaning if you give notice, you can have 2 weeks you don't pay while your child is out on vacation. I haven't seen that in any other daycare that I looked at. Cons - yes, they are psychotic about payments and they are always trying to find some way to impose an additional charge. But, if you do the drill, get there on time, pay on time, it's not a bad price. Another con, apparently they can close during the holidays with little notice if they know that few kids are coming. My only other complaint, occasionally it is hard getting answers because the office manager isn't always the most helpful but just stick with it, you'll get what you need. more

Slightly skeptical @ first, but love it! 9/15/2011

I've been sending my daughter here since she was 11 months old. She spent 2 months in the infant room, which she loved despite my initially thinking it was a bit small & bare. She'd cry in the morning when I dropped her off (typical), but when I spied on her before picking her up, she was always laughing, running around, and playing with her friends. She is now in the young toddler class & is transitioning quite well. She's now exposed to the ""big"" kids & is getting to do more fun activities. I agree with some previous reviews in that it can be quite difficult getting information from King's Kids. The office manager is a sweet lady, but often times my phone calls don't get answered in a timely manner & that can be frustrating. My best advice is to visit the center & forego the phone conversation. Ms. Hall, the director, is wonderful! The teachers at the center truly care for the kids & the kids adore them. Please note that kids >2 years are required to be uniform during the school year. There are strict rules & penalties regarding late drop-offs, late pick-ups, being out of uniform, late tuition, etc. However, these are fair & I've never had an issue meeting these rules. As noted below, if you give the center notice, you have 2 weeks of vacation that you do need to pay. more

Concerned about getting paid 10/30/2009

a unique daycare they arent very flexible with schedules- you have to have your child in by 830 am and picked up by 6 -5 days a week. No part time . $175 a week. Sometimes they seem unorganized and other times they are very strict. Just waiting to see how it goes... Pros: good price and most kids seem happy- director is nice Cons: office manager is rude and shouldnt be allowed to speak more
