Kid's Castle Cuts

We went to Castle Kids Cuts with our 4 year old autistic son. It was his first haircut and the Autism Society of Oregon suggested this salon as being the best one for children with that particular disability to go to. They were not wrong! There are toys there for every age. I don't mean a basket of blocks--there was a playhouse, a full-sized train set on a train table, a Gamecube with a Mario game in it, books, Barbie dolls, and movies. It is open and airy and bright. I did not find it dark, and I also found the toys to be clean and well-kept. There is a diaper changing station there as well. The seats are toy cars and planes, but they also have a less daunting chair for children who find that to be too much. They also do adult cuts, so they have a regular chair there too. I really liked how the place did not smell like a salon: in fact, it smelled like NOTHING AT ALL which is great for children with sensory processing disorder. At each station there is a television to watch (your child gets to pick 'their' movie), some toys to play with, and BUBBLES! The stylists do not ask your child to sit still and do not mind kicking and screaming. They knows tricks to help get the job done with the least amount of fuss. My child actually felt so at ease there that he had a very pleasant experience. We'll be making it a habit to go there a few times a year for our son's haircuts. It is a ways away from us, but definitely worth it. more

This would be a wonderful salon if there was one thing changed.\r \r Kids and parents love to come, as they do a fabulous job cutting hair. Each time you come, if you get Teresa, she will learn the child's hair type and the way it grows. She does a fab job on both my kids, my girl has a A-Line hair cut and she has got it figured out with her, as my girl has difficult hair.\r \r So, with that being said, the kids love to come because they have toys!!!! However, the toys are dirty. If they understood the important of maintaining the toys and keeping them sanitary it would be a four-star salon. I don't mean out of box clean, I am not expecting that, but honestly they are dirty and haven't been cleaned I don't think ever! \r \r That's the only thing I dislike. I took my son there for his first haircut at 10 months old. They did a fantastic job. They kept him occupied while they cut his hair, which is hard to do since he's very energetic. They were even able to use the clippers on him. They even gave us a certificate for his first hair cut with some of his hair attached. I'm definitely going to take him back. more

My son is 4 and we have gone here since his first haircut. The place is dirty and dark but we thought the stylists did a good job so we kept going back....but we won't go back again! Today we came in as a walk in...which usually means an hour wait...we had waited about 40 minutes and a lady came in with two kids...they told her her appt. was for Thursday not today but told her they would try to squeeze her in. At about the 1 hour of waiting mark the stylist that had this client booked for the next day decided to take her kids instead of us... completely rude, unacceptable and I was so mad I could have screamed. We left and drove out to Hillsboro to pigtails & Crewcuts...what a differrnce. The facility was beautiful and clean, the receptionist and stylist were super nice, my son got a GREAT headache and we only waited 10 minutes. Save your time in the waiting room and go here, it is located in the streets of Tanasbobourne so if you do have to wait you can shop and they will call you on your cell when they are ready. Whoever thought of this concept is a genius!! Kids Castle Cuts is the first, and only, place that has been a great experience everytime! My kids love going there and waiting isn't so hard for them because there are tons of toys to play with!! All the stylists are fantastic, great with kids, and know how to cut chilren's hair just right!! I will never go anywhere else (until my kids get too old to go there anymore!!) more
