Courteous staff and excellent fare 12/4/2002

The staff was extremely courteous and handled a minor billing error quite expertly. The del monico was excellently flavored and cooked with precision. I will be dining there more often, just avoid the weekends and go during the weekdays if possible. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Parking, Excellent Staff Cons: Crowded on Weekends more

Mis-steak 10/28/2002

The New York steak was flavorfull but very tough, the sauce on the sea bass was too heavy and sweet over powering the fish. Ambience too noisy. Overall value - poor. Pros: service, drinks Cons: crowded, hard seats, poor food more

Great Food, LONG wait for a table 10/27/2002

Just moved here and I've asked around about where I could get a good steak, Jak's was always in the top 5. Though, I was warned to get there early and put my name on the list. Little did I know, that when I arrived at 6:30, thinking I'd get a table at 7:00 or 7:30 at the latest, that there was a 2 1/2 hour wait. But, it was well worth it. The ambience was excellent, dimly lit, with wood paneling all over. My DelMonico was excellent and everyone wish they had gotten it instead! Service was a little off at first, our waitress didn't seem like she wanted to be there, and certainly didn't want to be serving us. She warmed up a bit towards the end of our meal. One thing though, no darks beers! How you can have a steak without a good dark beer? Pros: great steaks Cons: Long wait, No Guiness on tap more

trainman 10/17/2002

I've been there 3 times; wish it were more. The food is great, service excellent, and I don't feel overwhelmed, as I sometimes do at the more expensive steak joints. Pros: Great steaks, Feel comfortable, Close to home Cons: No reservations taken more

Almost too good to be true 10/10/2002

Jak's is truly one of those rare finds - an inexpensive restaurant that consistently serves incredibly tasty food, has a friendly waitstaff, and great bar service. the amount of food they serve you is criminal - they will stuff you silly! salad, baked potato the size of your head, huge steak, yum. worth every penny and every minute of waiting. more

JaK's 10/10/2002

By far the best steaks and you can't beat the price. The staff is friendly and attentive. The only place they could improve would be a larger waiting area, since they don't take reservations. Pros: great food, best buy, friendly Cons: no wait area more

Best steak in area.... 10/8/2002

I have eaten here at least 20 times and I always get a great steak with great service. You might have to wait, there is always a crowd, but well worth it. Pros: Food, Service Cons: long line more

The best for less 10/7/2002

Great food, no downtown parking hassle and less money than the ""name brand"" steakhouses. In fact, I'd say the food is better than the places with more recognizable names. Pros: great food, easy parking, great value Cons: Not so much atmospher more

among the best 10/4/2002

I travel continually with my job, and I love to visit the great steak houses accross the country. One of those steak houses is located right here in our own backyard...it's called JaK's. If you like the Met, Ruth's Chris, Morton's, or El Gaucho - but have not tried JaK's - then you are missing out on one of the best kept secrets in Seattle (and the Eastside.) Try the filet - you won't be disappointed. Pros: Food, Price, Ambiance Cons: time to get a table more

Juicy and tender 9/29/2002

I happened to stumble upon Jak's Grill, looking for a restaurant to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. I've tried both of their salads, vinegrette and blue cheese. They were soooo tasty! I usually get their daily special, and they haven't disappointed me even once. They sure give you plenty of food for such a reasonable price. Pros: Plenty of food, excellent serivce, good quality food Cons: Crowded more

The Secret Place! 9/25/2002

Jak's Grill is one of the best! My husband and I could not decide on a recent visit, which one was our favorite that we had ordered...filet Mignon or Salmon? We are still trying to decide! The atmosphere and service is awesome!! In fact, it has become so popular among the crowds from athletes to locals...you can not make a reservation, so be prepared to wait anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours! more

Are these people nuts? 9/23/2002

My wife and I have been going to Jak's for over a year and have yet to have a bad meal. The petite filet is so tender you don't need a knife, the salads are (especially the blue cheese) are fresh, the bread's always piping hot, the service is top notch and personable, and the bar tender is VERY heavy handed. In this day and age of ""Here's your meal, now leave!"" they are a breath of fresh air. Pros: Everything! Cons: Parking, But thats west, Seattle. more

Great steak, anything else? 9/19/2002

JaK's has a restaurant down to a T(bone). Porterhouse actually, a Delmonico, filet, etc. But that is all. Specials were weak, salads were horrible (warm, wilted, and completely absent of flavor). Service was good but rushed. I would appreciate a bit more selection with a lot less wait. Pros: Great prime steaks, martinis Cons: Selection, Parking, Noise more

Salty!! 9/9/2002

I had high hopes after reading all the reviews which were generally positive. I ordered the porterhouse steak at $28 the priciest cut. The steak arrived less than adequately charred, but most importantly, it was extremely salty! After eating half of my steak, I had drunk 3 glasses of water. I'm not one to complain to the waitress about the quality of the food, so I kept to myself and my group. Incidentally, my wife's steak was also very salty. Service was friendly and prompt, I just wish the steak had less SALT!! I won't be going back. Pros: Friendly service, Not very expensive Cons: SALTY more

EXCELLENT FOOD 8/25/2002

BEST STEAKS FOR YOUR MONEY!!! GREAT SERVICE AND ALOT FOR WHAT YOU PAY. Pros: SERVICE, FOOD, LOCATION Cons: MORE SALAD DRESSINGS, TO CHOSE FROM more

Best steak value in Seattle 8/9/2002

There's only one item on the menu as far as I'm concerned: the JaK's cut Filet. Hands-down the best steak I've ever had, and it's reasonably priced as well. Don't forget the excellent potato pancakes and you've got yourself a full meal for around $30. The only drawback is the long waits for a table, but considering what you get, it's worth the wait. Pros: Excellent value, Succulent steaks Cons: Long wait more

Our favorite steak place 7/29/2002

Great food at reasonable prices. We always take home an extra portion of the potato cakes. Yummy! more

Jeff & Ken got it right 7/26/2002

A good experience on all levels, great food, staff, details & eceptional value. Only disappointment is the wait - no reservations. more

Very Good Value 7/26/2002

What you get here are very good steaks with excellent taste. The taste is distinctive from the other big name houses. This is what a neighborhood steak house is supposed to be. Fine job all around. Less ambiance means less price. If you want the style of the Met or others go there. 3rd time here and the food has been consistent and you can get in and out without much fuss. Seattle is fortunate to have JaK's and th Met in the same city. more

Jak's rivals many downtown steakhouses 6/16/2002

Melt in your mouth steak. Impecable service. Nice ambience. Prices you can't absolutely cannot beat. I will certainly be back, and I will be spreading the good word. more
