I don?t know what I would do if I didn?t have Jenna! I live in DC and I drive to Philly (regardless of weather) just for her. She has been doing my extension work for over three years and I will never go anywhere else. My hair is fine & limp but it always looks naturally perfect when she?s finished. She does everything right, great cuts & color too. When I had dreadlocks she did that as well. She uses quality hair and is very meticulous so I have no damage. If you are thinking about extensions Jenna is the best in the business, I can?t recommend her highly enough. more

THE Most Amazing Haircuts EVER!! 12/11/2006

Julie is hands down a hair genius! When I first moved to this city, a friend recommended her to me. Now, if I ever moved out of Phila, I would come back just for the haircuts! I have the worst hair type ever (coarse, dry, wavey, thin) and she masterfully cuts my hair in such a way that it's so easy to style. I always tell people that she is the only stylist that I have gone to that did not make me cry afterwards. more

Head Area is awesome and I LOVE Julie! 12/11/2006

Julie has been cutting my hair for the past three years and I have followed her to three different salons (Head Area being the newest and BEST). If Julie started cutting and dying hair out of a box located on the corner of 5th and Diamond, I would follow her there too. She is simply amazing. When I first came to her three years ago my hair was ratty, boring, and hard to manage. Since then she has worked with me to find a cut and color that fits my style and frames my features. When I go to Jullie, I'm not always sure what I want to happen to my hair...but she consistently comes up with something new and innovative; I leave her chair feeling happy and most importantly HOT. I'm currently enjoying a really cute, funky, choppy bob. Pros: Cool store, awesome salon and great stylists Cons: none - get here! more

Head Area best haircut I have had in Philadelphia! 12/10/2006

After having been to several hair salons in Philadelphia I finally discovered someone who can really cut hair, Lee was fantastic! Would not hesitate to recommend him and look forward to my next visit. He is truly an artist and not just another hair stylist. Would love to have my hair colored by JoJo if I could only get an appointment! Pros: The focus is on the haircut and the staff was extremely friendly Cons: Nothing I can think of! more

BEST CUT & COLOR IN PHILLY 11/28/2006

I made the decision to cut my long hair (which was past the middle of my back) shoulder length. After being unsatisfied with my current ctiy salon, I read all the positive reviews for Head Area and scheduled an appointment. I received the best haircut of my life from Lee. I have never scene a stylist cut hair the way he does. He also made what could be a very stressful experience (1st time cut as well as all the length) extremely relaxing. I also had my hair colored by Stephen and could not be more satisfied. He was very meticulous and has an artistic eye for what color best suited by features and complexion.If you are stuck in a rut with your current salon or just looking to see what else is out there, you defintely want to give these guys a shot. I am confident you will not be disappointed. I was even aproached by a stranger as I walked up walnut who asked to buy me a drink...Need I say more??? Thanks guys ;o) Pros: Low pressure, Knowledgeable & friendly staff, not stuffy more

Been a loyal client for 8 years, would not go to anyone else. So in love with their work I want them for my wedding stylists! Lee and JoJo have an unmatched passion and talent for their work and anyone they work with I know will as well. If you want great hair with unique style, you have to go to HeaDAreA! I love Head Area! 10/24/2006

Because I love Lee and JoJo! I followed them from East End and would follow them anywhere! Lee is so talented and creative with his hair cuts....I have very boring hair (stick straight, lifeless, limp, etc.) but Lee gives it life and body. I trust his ideas, so if I don't have any I just tell him to do whatever he wants and I always love it. He definitely has his own style, but he doesn't force it on you. He gets to know your own personal style and creates a haircut that suits you and makes you look your best. JoJo is just as awesome with color. I always want to do something just a little bit different than last time and she knows how to tweak the color just right. more

Will travel from anywhere for a cut/color from these stylists! 10/1/2006

After my first haircut and color from JoAnn and Lee eight years ago, I doubted I would ever be happy with ANYONE else doing ANYTHING to my hair. And I was right! Because I have since lived as far away as Belize, I have had to suffer through 2nd rate haircuts and highlights. But on every trip back to Philly, one of the first tasks on my to-do list is to go get my hair done with either JoAnn or Lee! Whether it has been blond highlights, trims, chopping off my long hair for a cute short 'do, or dying my faded locks to a rich, dark brown, I have always been happy (usually ecstatic) leaving the salon. Now that they have their own salon (congrats!!!!), I am even happier to patronize them and excited to see how HeaD AreaA grows in the future. I recommend HeaD AreA to anyone who wants a great haircut and/or color from stylists who listen to what you want and have so much talent that the end result is always... gorgeous! :-) Pros: Staff is very easy-going, and they're very knowledgeable about products and color, etc. Cons: Hard to get a Saturday appointment because it's so popular! more

Great salon, great experience 9/19/2006

Worth the wait for an appointment! I was very impressed with the haircut I received and the atmosphere is great too. Clearly superior to all the other salons I've tried in Philadelphia and elsewhere. No complaints and I'll definitely be back. Pros: Excellent stylists, modern haircuts, relaxed atmosphere. Cons: Not the best decor but it doesn't really matter since the haircut is worth it. more

I made the decision to donate my hair to Locks of Love and was nervous about getting it cut because my hair had never been above shoulder length. I was also concerned about how I would look with short hair given my facial structure and hair texture. more

Incredible Place!! 8/27/2006

From the Trainees to the Experts who own Head Area, it's mindblowing to see their work! From their elite customers that stop in to the normal everyday people (like me) - you can easily see that they know Hair! Everyone is incredible at what they do and you can see the results immediately! I'm very picky about my hair cuts, and i found this place to be perfect! You would never see this place as it's tucky inside the Mathew Izzo store, but it's a gem to be discovered! What I loved was that they don't bombard ur head with a million products to make it look good, they cut and style your hair, so you can do the same at home! You feel like a super star walking off the set of a shampoo commercial when they're done! Ask them for recommendations and they'll make you look gorgeous, and if you know exactly what you want, tell them and they'll do just that! You will NOT be disappointed walking out of this salon! One word sums this place up - Awesome. Tucked away in the back of a cool home furnishings/gallery/boutique, this unpretentious salon exemplifies down to earth hipness. All the stylists are incredibly talented and make excellent recommendations pertaining to cut, color and products that allow their clientele to maintain their chosen style after they walk out of the salon. As a faithful Stephen follower for years, I can attest to the fact that as a client, I receive consistently beautiful haircuts and color everytime I sit down in his chair and always walk out feeling like a million bucks without the million dollar price tag. I'm moving to Chicago and will continue to come here get my hair done. It's just that worth it. Pros: Awesome cuts and color, very talented stylists, terrific atmosphere more
