Great Horses & great property 4/24/2009

Golden Vista is the riding experience I have been looking for. It is convenient, on the east side f town. The instructors are very talented at teaching all types of equestruian disciplines. I would recommend Golden Vista to anyone wanting lessons, camp for kids or just to have fun with the horses - AND they have a covered, shaded arena Pros: 50 acres to ride, lighted overed arena, nice equipment more

What a Wonderful Facility 1/6/2008

I rode at Golden Vista for over 7 years. I went from a beginner to Novice division in eventing--dressage, jump course and cross country and did excellent in hunter/jumper. My education as a rider was excellent and allowed me to compete--and win at a level I never thought possible. When competing against other riders at other stables I was a consistently in the ribbons. My mounts were always provided by Golden Vista and part of the stable horses owned and trained by Cheryl. I could compete against other riders with more formal trainning and experience, because I was taught the basics and then the finer points with safety always first. If your looking for a serious instructor that can take you to competitions and win, I highly recommend Golden Vista. If you are just looking for extra fun and want a few lessons for exercise, this can be accommodated at this stable as well. I have read the previous negative reviews, and can say from my own experience, the only time I experienced someone raising their voices was to make a needed safety point. Horses are wonderful, however please pick your stables or mounts wisely. Pros: advanced instructor and horses, great facility, LIGHTED ARENA--one of the few in town!! more

best horse training and facilities around 12/13/2007

great facilities and lots of personal.one-on-one attention,,,Cheryl was informed about my nervousness around large, powerful horses, but she soon put me at ease,,,still respectful of their power and beauty,,,she gave me much self confidence in handling and learning how to properly ride these magnificicent animals....from the first lesson to the last,Cheryl was patient and understanding of my past misfortune with a horse and led me through expert instruction to really have the fun in riding the horses and taking care of them,,,,from beginner,as i was,to more advanced pupils,,,Cheryl really knows her business and is a great people person and of course, horse lover,,,,i would not hesitate to recommend her and her facilities, which i found to be clean and orderly,to anyone that is seriously contemplating on learning how to ride,,,,thanks Cheryl for a wonderful time in learning how to ride these fabulous creatures,,,,, Pros: lots of space, agreeable horses, expert instruction, good price, location Cons: none that come to mind more

Highly Recomended! 12/13/2007

Highly Recommended! I highly recomend this facility, my daughter several years ago learned hunter/jumping there and I learned to ride there 4 years ago and I still ride there once a week. The facility is nice, the instruction given is thorough, the horses are well cared for. I compete in several shows and by far one of the best sites I have seen. Even the get-togethers are nice and everyone there is nice. I even enjoy the trail rides. Pros: out in the country-side, well informed instructors more

Very knowledgeable instructor! 11/19/2007

I'm a beginner rider. I took 5 lessons at another stable and switched to Golden Vista and am so glad I did. I have learned more at Golden Vista in the first lesson than the five at the other stable. Cheryl obviously knows her stuff. She approaches each lesson with a curriculum in mind and provides a great foundation of the fundamentals. She's very big on safety and teaching you the reasons why the fundamentals are important. I also appreciate her teaching style--she tries hard to explain things clearly, is incredibly patient, and always encouraging. I strongly recommend Golden Vista to anyone. more

Golden Vista Equestrian Center 11/12/2007

I send my 8 year old daughter as well to the Golden Vista Equestrian Camp and it was the most wonderful and rewarding experience for her. After she successfully completed the beginner Camp she asked to go back for 2 more weeks for the Intermediate Camp. We now ride every weekend out at our ranch and I am just amazed how much my daughter learned in those four weeks. What I found prior to sending my daughter to Camp (by doing my research and actually visiting Golden Vista) was an extremely professional and knowledgeable staff. As a parent however what was and is most important to me is safety. The staff at Golden Vista impressed me on how they focused on the safety of the children. The other part that is so critical in Camp is the discipline of the children. Taking care of 1200 pound animals is very serious business. My advice to any parent is that before you send your child to a camp, and especially one that involves horses, you take look and check them out before hand. Golden Vista provided my daughter with an experience that will last us a life time and she will be back this summer again. I highly recommend them! Pros: Individual Care, Safety, Staff, Facilities more

strongly NOT recommended 6/12/2007

We sent our 8-year-old daughter to this camp. She actually learned quite a lot and loved the time spent with the horse that was "hers" for the two weeks -- but this all seems to have been IN SPITE OF rude treatment by the director and unsafe, unhygienic conditions. The campers were left w/o adult supervision for much of the day. To top it off, the campers were taken off-site on a "field trip" to get grain, and we had NOT given permission for any such trip. It seems the only bright spots were the horses themselves and the teenage helpers, who were great. Oh yeah... and one day (out of ten) was cancelled with less than a week's notice and the director refused to pro-rate the tuition. Please -- find another camp for your child. more

Do NOT send your child to this camp! 6/10/2007

We were not reimbursed our money for a cancelled day of camp. My child was talked down to and yelled at. In fact, I was talked down to and yelled at. We had issues concerning the restroom facilities. Worst of all, there was inadequate adult supervision, as well as various safety and legal issues. more

Great Lessons for Beginners 3/4/2006

You can sign up for lessons through ACC Continuing Ed, although if you want to ride year round, you can call the owner directly to arrange lessons. I chose this stable because they offer lessons in dressage, hunter/jumper, and cross-country. I only attended Beginner lessons so far, but the instructors are great - even in a group lesson, everyone received lots of feedback and individual attention. Sweet horses, and very nice facility. more
