Best

When I go out to eat, I expect to pay a lot for my meal. I also expect to get a lot of food for that money. I'm a bit of a foodie and only want the best. Well, this place did deli...

Worst

What seemed to be an upscale, fancy steakhouse, turned out disappointing. The kitchen at Fleming's is exposed to the guests. After 15min, I wished I wasn't sitting ""in the kitche...

Just above average food, poor service... 7/4/2006

Had been to the Fleming's in Newport Beach, CA, had a great time and thought we'd get the same in Palm Springs. Unfortunately this was not the case. While the food was okay (fairly high-priced for such average food), it was the service that put a damper on the evening. Pros: Good food, wine and cocktails - nice loud ambience Cons: Service, no valet parking, mall parking lot more

Money well spent! 6/24/2006

I've taken my group to either location, DC Ranch, or Lincoln, and we always have a memorable time! More wines to choose from than you can imagine, knowledgable staff, and superb food offerings! The best part is that the bill is a bit less than the other upscale steakhouses! Pros: Private dining rooms at great rates more

Flemmings is outstanding! 5/26/2006

My wife and I spent our two year anniversary at Flemmings for dinner this year. It was just as delicious as we remembered. Our smoked salmon bruschetta appetizer was fantastic, the $8 ceasar salad was good but still not sure you get the value... That aside though, they cut a bigger ribeye for us so we could share it and the crab leg dinner for a delicious surf and turf. I have really spent the last year eating Ruth's Chris steaks, so my expectiations weren't that high for it to be comaprable, but it was truly every bit as delicious. We topped the evening off with the best cheesecake ever. The atmosphere is also unbeatable. The service was also outstanding. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. Pros: atmosphere, steaks Cons: $$$-sides more

Used to be great, but now it SUCKS! 5/23/2006

Fleming's used to be my favorite restaurant. It can get expensive, but I considered it well worth the price. However, the last few times I'd eaten there was disappointing. Because it was a favorite of mine, I kept giving it another chance. The last time I went may be, sad to say, my last time ever. They were extremely late seating us, overcooked my steak, and didn't bring us the sides we ordered. We were so fed up that I asked the waiter to pack up the food that hadn't yet arrived so we could take it to go. When they packed the bag, there still were items missing. I asked the manager about it, who told us that they had run out. We left at 9:30 having not even finished an entree. They did comp us some drinks, but overall the experience was still horrible. more

1st Wedding Anniversart 5/21/2006

I decided to make reservations at Flemings for our Anniversary! We both LOVED the food, service, atmosphere, and everything about Flemings! It's a little on the expensive side; however, for special occasions, it's well worth the money! I can't wait to go back there for our 2nd anniversary! Pros: romantic, wine list, great service Cons: parking more

Disappointed 3/26/2006

Flemings had a very nice ambience and the waiters were very accomodating, but my husband and I never received our salad, we were told to share the side, we ordered a bake potato, because they were so large and they aren't! Both of our steaks were black and crispy. No bread was served and the dessert was cold. We were also told to share the dessert. Order your own!! Pros: quiet, good parking, pleasant Cons: slow, poor food, expensive more

Very disappointed -- Overrated 3/18/2006

I could not have been more disappointed with the food and staff. I called beforehand and mentioned that it was my husband's 65th birthday. They told me they do something special for dessert. We ordered everything the waiter suggested. Nothing met our expectaions, it was overly salted & very pricey! When it came to dessert, nothing was done. I called the next day and spoke to the manager. Instead of inviting us back in for dessert, he said he would ""investigate"" the matter...""investigate??? come on, it was only dessert and certainly he has lost our future business! All future celebrations will be elsewhere. This restaurant is mediocre at best. Cons: Overly valued more

Our Fav Place 3/12/2006

This is the best steakhouse around! We eat here quite often and have always had the best service, food and overall atmosphere!!! We have made friends w/ the staff and are always greeted nicely when calling in - must try this place!!!! Pros: service, food more

Great Romantic Relaxed Experience 3/4/2006

Our server answered questions with knowledge, made everything sounds so tempting was hard to choose. The seating very comfortable, the mood just right, and the wine service impeccably timed. He never let us lack for anything and was attentive without being overbearing. Liked the spaciousness, feeling in the midst of room of people we were in space of our own. Though there was no smoking inside, the outdoor smoking area was heated so I was perfectly comfortable in the midst of winter. A local athletic celeb was having a private affair in a separate room (engagement party, I think) who stopped by to say hello with another member of his party that we knew. Everything was completely relaxed and we were never rushed. We were having such a lovely time we must have been there forever enjoying the wine and each others company before and after the meal. Pros: Very Comfortable, Excellent Service, Great Atmosphere more

Undetermined 2/27/2006

We were a group of 20 for a birthdayDinner. Poor lighting, bring flashlight. Service was gratious. but slow. I ordered BeefFlemington medumWell. One side of table received order 35 minutes after ordering. The other side recieved order about 5 minutes afterward. My food was very wellDone. Others ranged from overcooked to burnt (all ordered medum well). However, my husbands steak was cooked to perfection. My replacement BFlemington came 15 minutes later. It appeared to have been perfected, but when cut into the center, it was not pink, but raw. The staff(manager?)was cordial and offered a replacement, but I didn't see the point after 2 trys. It didn't appear on the bill. All in all, it has qualities of a great steakhouse, but improvement needed. My husbands delicious steak convinces me to give it another try. I would however just go with 1 or 2 people and order just a steak. Pros: concerned staff Cons: slow service, med well=very wellDon more

Fabulous Party of 8 2/23/2006

A dining out occasions with friends; which meant four couples to tend to, each with a dire need for cocktails and a hearty appetite. Well not to worry at Flemings! Our waiter was awesome; the bartenders were enthusiastic (speaking of which the White Cosmo is wonderful ladies.) and the food was fabulous! All I can say is we promised not to say the S word in comparisons and that was not a problem, we had a lovely and entertaining evening and left perfectly satisfied. BTW, what I failed to mention is we came from Harker Heights for this meal, and was it ever worth it! more

Charge It To My Corporate Card 2/12/2006

Pleasant, professional service from hostess, at bar and tableside, although courses were slow to arrive-dinner exceeded 2 hrs. Nice presentations incl an edible veggy basket & onion ring tower. The calamari appetizer was a pleasant surprise - tender, not rubbery, delicately seasoned. At my table, steaks elicited neither complaints nor raves; maybe they were too busy eating! I ordered the tiny, overpriced salmon(so-so) and my companion said the gorgeous tuna was tough and membraney. The ballyhooed chocolate lava cake was small and not worth the wait. A respectable, expense account restaurant, but I'm inclined to spend my own money elsewhere. Pros: Pleasant staff, plate presentations, wine list Cons: Noisy, pricey, slow service more

Great steak, good service 2/11/2006

The food is really the only reason to go here, the steak in particular. The past two times I had been to this place, we had the most professional waiters I have ever witnessed. They knew more about meat than you could shake a fist at; they were prompt, polite and respectful. Last night, however, I can't say the same. We had a waiter that was lazy and seemed to not care about us because we are young. Oh well, it happens. The filet mignon is delightfully tasty; try the peppercorn sauce to really bring out the steak's flavor. The crowd is mixed; some overdressed, most underdressed. Reservations are a must and the valet parking on Saturday can be hectic. Be there early. Pros: Steak, Wines, Some of the waiters Cons: Condescending service, crowded, Coat check skills more

Steaks before - deployment back to the War 1/25/2006

I decided to take my son-in-law and another fellow Marine to Flemings - before they deploy back to the War. We made reservations for 8pm and were seated soon after we arrived!! The place was packed with people and was rather noisy, but not unbearable. It's not The Place to romance - due to it's busy-ness and packed bar area. This is a business dining spot - with many large tables with 6-10 people. The service was very prompt and friendly, and the steaks were some of the best we've had. The waiter even treated us to the Lava Cake - as a ""farewell"" to our Nations brave men. It was a nice touch and very delicious!! The wine the waiter selected was very nice Flemings has always served a great steak - much better - I think - than compared to Charlies and Ruths' Chris. more

Overpriced and not worth the time 1/21/2006

There are really too many great spots to go in Austin and Fleming's is not one of them. Unless of course you want to pay too much, not have your expectations met and get attitude from the managers. Both an older gentleman and female manager think they are so knowledgeable but in fact are sarcastic and degrading towards the guest and staff. I would never want to work under such attitude and dictatorship. Don't waste your time at Fleming's, go someplace that is fun and you know the staff enjoys there job because they don't have to answer to idiots more

Wonderful wine bar and great service 1/15/2006

If you have an experienced steak house palette, you might find the food at Flemings average. Otherwise, you will be quite impressed. I have visited several times and find the steaks and ""Wellington"" to be very tasty. Their asparagus and spinach sides are fabu but I dont find the Flemings potatoes or mushrooms to be spectacular. Nevertheless, I must RAVE about their wine bar .... it's the perfect place to find the freedom to experience a wide variety of wines by the glass. Their ""bar desserts"" are quite tasty too! Pros: Wonderful ambiance, Wine Bar, Valet Parking more

you don't get what you're paying for 1/10/2006

actually went to the fleming's that just opened in woodland hills. didn't make reservations (initially told there was a 2 1/2 hour wait ), but greased someone and were seated within 1/2 hour. the decor was typical of an american steakhouse: wood, booths and middle-aged patrons. we were expecting an upscale dining experience, but were sorely mistaken. the crab bisque was creamy, with no crab in it. the lump crab cakes were decent. i ordered the chilean seabass (nicely cooked but with too-sweet broccolini that overpowered everything) while my husband had the filet (ordered medium-well, got completely bloody) and was completely dissatisfied with the QUALITY of meat (we've had better at HOME). our friends had lamb chops (practically rare and completely fatty) and the petit filet (butterflied and over-cooked). even dessert was lack-luster: average gelson's quality cheesecake. the only thing high-end was the bill: $180/couple. completely overpriced for the quality. Pros: lots of wine by glass, nice service Cons: overpriced, average quality steak, mediocre food more

Best in Tampa by far 12/5/2005

Great restaurant! I have eaten at all of TB area steakhouses at least dozen times: Ruths, Burns, Charleys, Palm etc.. and all the classics around the US: Chicago Chop House, Mortons, Peter Lugars, Ben Benson etc. etc., Flemings's steak is better then most of them and on-par with the rest, the sides are ok, the ambience is great, people who complain about the noise are questionable at best, it's not that noisy and it's a lot nicer to be able to have a great time and speak normally, instead of whispering all-night which you have to do at some of the more somber palces. -- Don't let them seat you in the back of the restaurant! That's for trainee servers or something never a good time. Pros: Steaks, Romantic Cons: Expensive more

Noise level too high 11/29/2005

I recently ate at Flemmings for the first time. As soon as I walked in the room I thought I was back on the tarmac at the airport. It was too loud to a point that the meal could not be enjoyed. The steaks were good, the sides were average, the service was not what I expected. Our server tried hard but lacked a basic understanding of the food or wines he was serving. Disappointed. more

Great Resturaunt 11/28/2005

Great Service. Excellent Food. Fine Wine. Central Location. If you want great steak there is no better place in Austin. more
