What seemed to be an upscale, fancy steakhouse, turned out disappointing. The kitchen at Fleming's is exposed to the guests. After 15min, I wished I wasn't sitting ""in the kitche...

Great food but too noisy and casual 8/19/2007

Went to Flemings the first time last night. The food was terrific but pricey, especially the wine by the glass ($17) and everything's al a carte. Our tab came to $190 with tip. Pros: Good steaks and service Cons: Price, noise, too casual for an expensive dinner more

My Favorite Restaurant Ever! 8/1/2007

I have lived in San Diego, New York and now am a frequent visitor of Austin. When I discovered there was a Fleming's I could not wait to try it here. It has been a favorite of mine for the past 7 years and I have to say it definitely lives up to its delictable food & amazing wine. Anytime visitors are in town I highly recommend this to everyone and have received excellent reviews everytime! Best restaurant ever! more

Wonderful ambience, romantic setting, great steak, even greater customer service! 7/18/2007

My husband and I went to Flemings for our Anniversary. We had 6:30 reservations and were seated promptly after arriving around 6:20. They knew it was our anniversary and the manager and our waiter (Tim) both wished us a Happy Anniversary and throughout the whole night, they treated us with such great service. My filet mignon was excellent!!! I have NO negatives about it. I did not even use the steak sauce that I requested. There was no need to! My husband's double pork rib chops were excellent as well and the apple cider sauce they prepare it with was extremely delicious. The sides are big enough for 2 people, depending on how much you eat. Our glasses never got below half as there was someone there to always fill them without asking. We were then ready for dessert! The Creme Brule was exceptional. It was even brought to our table with a candle. It is served with a whipped cream that is beyond words. Definitely no Cool Whip recipe here! From the time we pulled into the valet to the time we left the restaurant, our experience was all A-Class!! Even the restrooms were top of the line in class. Pros: Romantic and Impeccable Service Cons: I will let you know when we find some! more

Great Atmosphere and Food 7/13/2007

From the outside, you woudl never realize that such a great restaraunt is one the inside. However, once you are inside you are surrounded by the enormous amounts of wine that are on the menu. The wait staff is very knowledgeable and are very helpful. The menu is a la carte and the steaks are INCREDIBLE. The only thing better is the Fleming's potatoes. Reservations are needed especially on weekends. If you are looking for a quiet atmosphere that is a great place to catch a glipse at some of Nashville's royalty then this is a great place. Pros: Large Wine Selection, Great Food, Nice Place to Catch a Glipse of Celebrity Cons: Prices are steep but the food quality is well worth it. more

Our Favorite 6/1/2007

I honestly feel that Flemings is hands down the best food, experience, and service for your money when you are in search of steak. The portions are large, the food is superb, and the service is extraordinary. Granted, we have experienced some waitors here who do not deserve such accolades, but as a whole the staff is extremely knoweledgeable and attentive. This is the best value for money when you are looking for an excellent steak. Pros: Service, Food, Ambiance more

Not worth the price, lots of better places in Austin 5/20/2007

You would expect for a restaurant that charges nearly $30 and up for every entree (not including any sides) to cater to your every need, without hesitation or at least attitude. Well thats not the case with Flemings. Extremely rude staff and mediocre food is all you will get if you dine here. I had the beef flemington and the puff pastry was burned, should have just gotten a steak. Anyway, avoid this place at all costs. more

to date, the best steak of my life 5/15/2007

Amazing service, a stake to die for, and prompt curtious service! We treated ourselves to wine, apatisers, an amazing steak, and desert, in a night of dining i will never forget Pros: best steak of my life, and everything else was right up there too! Cons: a bit pricey, but worth the cost more

Excellent fine dining experience 4/10/2007

I brought several of my associates here for dinner and it was an excellent experience. The waiter was extremely knowledgable about the menu and the wine list. The service was impecable. Our steaks were all cooked exactly as ordered. It's not cheap but you don't come here for bargains. This place is a very nice choice for a special occasion or business entertainment. Pros: excellent food, great wine, great service Cons: price more

Great Team 3/30/2007

I went to Fleming's last month to celebrate my friend's promotion. we were first greeted by a courteous girl that verified my reservation and then we got sat. A young guy arrived to our table and we thought he was our server but after dropping and explaining to us a starter plate he told us the waitress would be there soon. this person(the waitress) arrived and ask us about drinks and appetizers in a way that we thought we were being rushed but since she seemed to be very busy we didn't pay too much attention to it. everything was wonderful, Flemings has the best calamari in town. my steak was cooked to perfection. we were constantly helped by all the staff our waitress was ok . she was busy most of the time. the only thing i didn't like about Gina was that she had a strong cigarette smell which i consider disgusting when I'm eating. My husband was blown away by the service given by one of her assistant who was always filling his water, and anticipating his needs. I'm planning to come back soon. Pros: great food (calamari) Cons: server smokes more

Excellent customer service 3/4/2007

The service at Fleming's is exceptional. From the welcome to the exit, your every need is attended. The food here is just as good as the staff. You truly get what you pay for. The steaks are juicy and full of flavor; you really can't pick a wrong side, but I do recommend the mashed potatoes with truffle compound butter. The cheesecake dessert is meant to be split between two. Great location in downtown and close to all the night life. This is a wonderful way to start an evening in Austin. Pros: food, service, location more

Great steaks and service 2/10/2007

Taken to Flemings by friends to celebrate the holidays and was not disappointed. The hostess already had our names via the reservation made by friends and greeted us by our last names with the title Mr & Mrs. Taken to our table where we were greeted by our waiter and butler who offered a similar greeting. The wait staff was very courteous and knowledgable and helped us during the meal with our selections. Our party shared several appetizers all wonderful. My wife and I split a salad, she had the filet and I enjoyed the chefs mixed grill of a filet, lamb chop and salmon. Unfortunately time constraints didn't allow for us to have dessert and coffee. Our experience was so pleasant we didn't want to leave. The wife and I have eaten in Charlies, Ruth Chris, The Capital Grill, and Berns locally and the experience at Flemings beat them all. Pros: Extremely courteous staff from valet through wait staff. Great food!!! more

Nice, but overpriced 2/8/2007

We went to Capital Grille for a special occassion. We had reservations for 8pm (soonest time available), we were not seated until 8:45pm. The place was so crowded and loud. There was absolutely no place to sit and wait unless you wanted to sit in the loud bar area and there definitely wasn't space for a party of 4 to sit together. The service started out good, but half way through our meal a very large party arrived and we never saw our waiter again. We were assigned two ""new"" waiters, who weren't very attentive. The prices were high for what you got. I ordered the filet and it was good, but for $35 I guess I expected it to be exceptional. I probably won't be back. No one in our party was impressed. We will stick with Shula's where the service is consistent and the atmosphere/ambience is better. Pros: Good menu selection, good desserts Cons: very loud, service not very attentive, overpriced more

Excelllent Filets!!!! 2/5/2007

Let me start by saying that I eat at different steak houses all over the US. From Morton's to Ruths Chris, to Bones in Atlanta to the Chop House in Chicago and so on. I am very fond of all of those steak houses, but Flemings for the price, service and their wonderful filet, is very hard to beat. I have eaten at fleming's in Nashville 4 or 5 times, and I have never had an average steak there. They have always been excellent and cooked just like I requested. My girlfriend agrees also that this is one of the best yet. The atmosphere, wine list and servers are all also top notch... Can't wait to go back.. Pros: Filet, Service, Quick Valet... Cons: NA more

Fantastic steaks and sides 1/30/2007

My husband takes me to a different steak house for my birthday each year (Mortons, Ruth's Chris, Donovan's) and this year it was Fleming's in Newport Beach. We had reservations and were seated fairly promptly at a table by the bar. We had a couple of cacklers at the bar that from time to time would let out a crazy piercing laugh, but what can you do? At least there was a glass partition that somewhat shielded us from some of the obnoxiousness at the bar. The food was great though! Initially they serve a plate of toasted breads with two types of spreads (brea and blue?). That was very yummy! My husband brought a bottle of our favorite wine for the occasion ($20 corkage fee) and the waiter immediately opened that up for us when he came by to introduce himself. We started off with their lobster bisque and ahi carpaccio. The carpaccio was phenomenal! The bisque was pretty good... but not ""OMG-good"". I ordered a filet mignon, rare, which came out perfectly. My husband ordered his medium rare, which he enjoyed. We also shared their mashed potatoes with was topped with truffle oil.... outstanding!!! Since it was my birthday, they brought out a complimentary creme brulee, which we both enjoyed very much. Very creamy with a nice crisp shell. My husband normally doesn't like custard but this was good! I wasn't blown away with the service though, or else I would have given it a 10. For a completely phenomenal dining experience, I still would go to Donovan's in La Jolla... that was where my previous birthday dinner was and I am still, to this day, incredibly impressed with their service and food! Everything came together like a beautiful symphony and the staff was incredibly courteous and alert. Pros: fabulously prepared steaks Cons: bar scene sometimes is obnoxious if you sit next to it more

Best steak in town 1/7/2007

The best steak I have eaten in Nashville. The gratin with the jalapenos was also delicious. I had a bleu cheese vinaigrette dressing on the salad and loved it. A little expensive but split a steak with your spouse and get two salads and there will be plenty of food. Pros: great food and service Cons: parking was a nightmare, expensive more

VERY VERY NOISY,POOR PARKING 1/7/2007

WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED. WE REQUESTED QUIET SEATING BUT APPARENTLY THERE ISN'T ANY. IT WAS SO NOISY IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO VISIT WITH EACH OTHER. THE ONLY PARKING AVAILABLE WAS VALET PARKING EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE MANY OPEN SPACES IN THE RESERVED VALET AREAS. THE SERVIVE WAS VERY GOOD ALTHOUGH AGAIN DIFFICULT TO HEAR THE SERVER. THE FOOD WAS AVERAGE COMPARED TO MORTON'S AND RUTH CHRIS. more

Waiter had gas 12/23/2006

Our server smeared the baked brie on his sac, then farted in our face over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over again. more

The Most Expensive Overcooked, bad service Steak 12/1/2006

Booked Reservations On Tuesday night , I had a couple clients to take out , and since they were from Texas , I thought I should Take them to A so called Great Steakhouse. Pros: NONE PLACE WAS DISGUSTING Cons: the steak is over cooked , the dessert is nasty. more

My new favorite steakhouse in Tampa 12/1/2006

We were a party of eight that ordered and shared a smorgasboard of appetizers and sides. To start we had the Baked Brie, Calamari, Seared Ahi Tuna, Lobster Tempura, Tenderloin Carpaccio, and French Onion soup. All of the appetizers were presented and tasted excellent! Salads were all ordered individually and enjoyed by all, mine as the Seafood Chopped Salad. It was loaded with lump crab and scallops, excellent! For sides we ordered Baked Potato, Mashed potatoes, Chipolte Cheddar Mac n Cheese (AWESOME!), Creamed corn, grilled asparagus, and sauteed mushrooms. All of the sides were excellent. Our steaks included the 12 oz Filet, 16 oz NY Strip, 22 oz Prime Bone-in Ribeye as well as the Salmon and Lobster Tails. The steak (I ALWAYS order NY Strip) was a hair better than Charley's, my wife's Filet was the best either of us had tasted. Everyone else at the table agreed that their steaks were top notch. Dessert, upon Guido's recommendation we had four lava cakes...WOW! All of the food was great, presentation was excellent. (Obviously the side dishes have been improved upon from some reviews I have read) Pros: Parking, Service, Calamari, Lobster Tempura, Steaks, Lava Cake Cons: Depending on where you are seated it can be noisy more
