Criminals! My wife took her car in for an oil change. They tell her she needs new rotors and it's going to cost $800. The brakes don't make any noise, we've always replaced the pads before they wear out and the rotors still feel fairly smooth. She decides to get a second opinion at a local auto repair shop and they say the rotors are fine! They say the brake pads still have several months of life left! Cost: 0 dollars. Avoid Firestone at all costs. In fact, boycott Seattle Westlake Firestone. They will try to rip you off.\r more

What a horrible service experience. Second time, never again. A few months back I took my old Ford Explorer (city beater car) in for an oil change and asked that tires be rotated and new wiper blades be installed. When I arrived to pick it up only the oil change had been done even though I had specifically requested the other services. We took care of the wipers but I wasn't bringing it back for the requested tire rotation. Today I brought my wife's Jeep in at 7:30 AM. We had banged a tire and wanted to confirm whether it could be repaired or needed to be replaced. The service advisor told me that they would check and let me know right away. At 2PM I called and they said they were just getting to it. At 4PM I called again and they said it needed a new tire but that they did not carry that model. Moreover they said they could not confirm whether they could get the tire during the next day. I picked it up and will now waste the better part of tomorrow - but I will go back to the dealer where the service is gold plated. The problem with the Firestone place is that there is little quality control on the work and the service orientation is non existent. What a shame since they are so conveniently located to me. They didn't even apologize for wasting the day. Horrible experience. I should have read the reviews on Citysearch. more

beware of them 10/19/2010

You are right. I have the same story. \r I bought a camry and took it to firestone for manufacturer service at 105000 miles and to change tires. They changed the engione oil, flushed the transmission fluid, changed coolant, and made approx. $500. Well, the steering was making grinding sound when fully turn to left after that so i took it back to them, and they said change the sway tool kit and charged another $80. Meanwhile, I went into the garage and saw oil spread all over the engine and when asked the mechanic he was not even aware of that. Well, he checked and said I can not see any leak it should be fine.\r Well, now my car is making grinding sound when I am turning right and left both and the oil is also leaking.\r \r So, if you want to pay for making your FOR garbage sale, go to FIRESTONE COMPLETE AUTO CARE..... more

Earned my 1st time business and a repeat customer 10/31/2009

First off, I have a great mechanic who takes good care of my car at reasonable rates and is honest and fair (Bud's Auto on Rainier), so I wouldn't have expectations of things any further than tires and maybe shocks and alignment at a place that specializes in, well, tires.\r \r And in this case, my expectations were exceeded. I did some internet research on the tire that I wanted on my 2002 Mercury Mountaineer 2 WD to deal with the upcoming wet winter Seattle roads and concluded the 245/70/16 Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo or Revo 2 was what I wanted. \r \r After some calls, I almost bought two rear tires at Discount Tire for full price for two. I then saw the Firestone add while surfing a tad more research and proceeded to call around the different stores for two Revo's first generation as Firestone's sale on that tire was buy one, get second at half price. However, it was for the Revo only and for limited stock on hand. A couple of places checked the entire state's inventory and came back with a none in stock answer. \r \r Sandy at Firestone Westlake called me back to say there were none left but she could get the Revo 2s and would give me the same sale price. Chris called me today to let me know the cross store transfer had arrived and I could bring my SUV in to have the tires mounted, \r \r They said it would take approx 45 minutes; I walked down the street to Uptown coffee, had a mocha, nice conversation with the seriously pretty barrista where we shared our Halloween costumes and hers was to be a dead can-can girl, hmmm, I think she'll pull it off just fine,,oh, but I digress. \r \r So, it was 45 minutes, and the tires made a vast improvement in smoothness, quiet, and I'm just daring the rain to come. Thanks folks, see you in January for the two front tires. Pros: Said what they'd do and did it, honored an expired sale Cons: None, it was a positive experience more

Find somewhere else. 8/4/2008

I had my car towed there when I got a flat and needed a new bolt and not only did they loosen the bolts on the front wheel (not the one that needed to be fixed) they didn't tighten them again. Several miles later, on my way to finals, I needed to pull into another service shop and they told me what happened and that all 4 mounting bolts and the rim would now need to be replaced on that wheel. Then a few months later, my brakes seized up. Turns out Firestone left the bolt they initially replaced rattling around in my brake assembly. They thought that to be an easy mistake to make and not concerning. While they did replace the damaged brakes; they did not pay for the repair to the damaged front wheel, and were unconcerned by their errors. I can't recommend them. more

Be Cautious 1/21/2007

I took my Ford Ranger in for oil change and to have them investigate an odd sound in the drive train. They recommended more service than I had anticipated, and I reluctantly agreed, and in the end, they had no answer for the drive train sound problem. Oddly, after I picked my vehicle up that evening, I began having problems with my starter. Is that a coincidence? I don't know, but I decided that I would take my vehicle somewhere else to have that problem fixed. I'd only recommend this place if you have a specific problem that needs fixing and you are very knowlegeable of the problem. I would not recommend taking it there for diagnostics. more

For the simple stuff only 1/3/2007

Tires, regular maintenance (oil changes, coolant flushes)...this store does acceptable work at a reasonable price. One plus is that they are open on Saturdays. But request any sort of work that has any difficulty and diagnostics to it (strange suspension or drivetrain noises, electrical gremlins), then they're no better than any other shop. IMO, they may even be a fair bit worse. Better to go to a shop that specializes in the particular make of your vehicle instead for these sorts of things.\r \r Also, I would not recommend them for brake work, unless you are VERY knowledgeable about the requirements for your car, and can direct these guys (with as much info as possible) with the HOPE that they get it correct the FIRST time. They seem to have issues understanding and recognizing which cars--particularly older ones--have ABS systems, and have shown a particular lack of knowledge with specific brands. \r \r For instance, Volkswagens are notorious for developing warped rotors on many of their newer models (I found this out after-the-fact from our VW dealer); the oem factory rotors are extremely difficult to properly remachine--the dealer usually replaces them instead of trying to save them--but this Firestone store seems incredibly ignorant of that type of data and instead tried to remachine, causing premature and uneven pad wear which ultimately lead to a rediagnosis and complete aftermarket rotor/pad replacement by another shop. more

Should have read the reviews before I went there 8/12/2006

charged me over $500 to fix a clunk sound problem of my car, but the problem was still there, inspected again and claimed another cause. Then denied they told me the over $500 parts/labor would fix the problem. \r \r NEVER GO THERE!!! more

I'd strongly suggest going elsewhere 7/16/2006

Courteous (albeit incompetent) front desk help, open on Sunday, and they overcharge for service/labor, took twice as long to get done as was quoted.\r \r I went to get my tire patched/plugged (a single nail through the tread - fairly new tire so no need to replace). After calling half a dozen places, this was the first who actually answered their phone (it was a Sunday and most shops were closed). While I feel they priced the replacement items fair (6 bucks for the plug and the little metal things to balance the tire), the $19 bucks they charged for labor made me feel like i was *insert abusive language here*. They also stated it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes when I walked in, and it ended up taking a little over one hour.\r \r I am very displeased, and will not go to that shop ever again. While i could excuse the time it took to get the job done (Sunday & probably limited mechanics available on staff), there is no justification for overcharging that much on such a simple procedu more

Good 12/9/2005

I got my tires replaced here and it took a little long. However the price wasn't too bad and they mounted and balanced the tires for free. I would consider returning to firestone. The tires were decent, I think I could get better tires for the same price. They had a friendly crew and didn't take my car for a joy ride, like some places do. more

This Firestone Tire store is easy to get to and has excellent and fast service. I guess the prices are always the same as the other stores but service is what counts. more
