This is NOT BBQ 5/23/2011

Avoid this establishment. If there is a smoker on this property, it has been cold for a long time. The brisket showed no evidence of ever having been smoked. No smoke ring, no bark, tough and tasteless. Same for the pork. Sides were out of a can and small. Absolutely no artistry or pride in product that one expects from a professional BBQ establishment. The rolls were day old or more. The ""BBQ"" sauce was little more than tomato sauce from a can with a little ketchup mixed in. The iced tea was brown water. Anyone giving this place more than one star has never had real BBQ or they were self-reviews. It is only because this app requires a star that I gave it the one star that is still does not deserve. more

Great food. Fun service 6/9/2010

We are regular lunch diners at Extra Billys and always look forward to Kathys smile and fun conversation. The onion strings and potato wedges are coated with a sweet spice that keep us coming back for more. If you like ranch dressing, you can't miss this. The BBQ pork is wonderful when I can manage to fore go the friend chicken salad. Pros: Family atmosphere more

Never Fails to Please 6/17/2009

This is the place in town we go to for ribs. The meat is always fall off the bone tender and the perfect blend of smokey and moist. The pulled pork is consistently wonderful. The coleslaw is tangy without being too sweet or vinegary. Their staff is friendly and easily accomodates kids. Unfortunately, we've never had room for dessert. Pros: great ribs & barbecue Cons: salad bar could benefit from a few more fresh options more

Thought I was in England 6/14/2009

Been around the world a few times (and to many, many smokehouses) and have to rate the food at Extra Billy's as the least flavorful I've ever experienced . . . even the BBQ sauce lacked any character. The only plus was the tasty and bold red ale. Not recommended if you want a true smokehouse, grill, or BBQ experience. Pros: Great Red Ale Cons: Not Even the Chicken Tasted Like Chicken more

Damm good Take-out on Broad Street 1/31/2009

We are down from South Jersey visiting our daughter and son in law you probably won't put much weight in what some Yankees think but nevertheless the food was damm good! Can't imagine how anyone could complain about the ribs. They were right on! I liked the cole slaw, my family was good with the bake beans. Too top it off the hush puppies were a treat. I shoulda gotta double order ( South Jersey talk) . We got take-out and now I'm wishing I had some desert! We'll be back! Don't let that from stop you from eating here. Pros: Good food. Cons: I live in South Jersey (our 51st State) more

Worst BBQ Experience Ever 10/6/2008

Was prepared for a potential disappointment - one should consider avoiding specialty restaurants when they open at the noon hour - too much carry-over from the previous day! The greens were good, cole slaw was edible; ordered pulled pork, received minced (would have sent back, but, time was an issue). The SIZE of the sides were an absolute insult, hence the price tag was somewhat high; the rolls were so bad we caught a quick order of hush puppies which were the highlight of the meal - unfortunately. Cleanliness - the sauce bottles on the table were disgustingly sticky; the menus not much better. Being among the first customers, I haven't a clue as to the last possible time either could have been wiped down!! Never here again, might try Broad St as we haven't been there in some time. In my opinion, avoid Alverser Drive Extra Billy's. more

Best BBQ on Broad Street!! 4/9/2008

This place is truly amazing. The food is outstanding! The prices are good and you will probably have leftovers to enjoy the next day! I am a huge fan of BBQ ribs and this place delivers the best! You can actually smell the chefs cooking the ribs as you park! The wait staff was very kind and helpful. The sweet tea will make any southerner swoon. It is great for a family meal or a fun night with friends. Delivers southern style food at great prices! Pros: nice staff, service, seated promptly, great bbq, more

Clean-cut BBQ 7/27/2005

The food is good and there is plenty of it...no way could I finish! The atmosphere is sort of like being at Applebees. I love the pulled pork sandwich on a nice potato roll. The turnip greens are to die for, coleslaw was very fresh and tasty. Nice, clean place with attentive friendly service. Pros: Turnip Greens ROCK, Good Value, Very good waitstaff more

great food, even greater service 7/4/2005

I am a regular customer to the Alverser Drive restaurant. My favorite is the BBQ Pulled pork sandwhich, with fries (which are fresh and seasoned) and coleslaw. This makes for a great meal at a decent price. No matter how busy the restaurant is, I always get a table within a matter of minutes, and the food comes out within a very reasonable amount of time. If the restaurant has only a few patrons, the food comes out within 4-5 minutes. On top of that, I am always impressed with the consisten and polite service from the waitstaff! They are generally very friendly and sincere. I recommend this restaurant to any BBQ lover! Pros: great food, great service, reasonable prices Cons: can get crowded, can get loud more

a place where you definitely notice the EXTRA 7/4/2005

if you're looking for a great place to eat that's both affordable and tasty, than extra billy's is a good choice. the meat is smoked to succulent perfection and the hushpuppies are the best i've ever had. (free on tues nights!) i love the fries, which are specially seasoned and unlike any others you'll ever have. if you enjoy beer, extra billy's offers a variety of freshly brewed beers that it makes right there in the restaurant. the service is superb also. all of the servers are well mannered, professional and seem to enjoy their job. from free kids night on wednesdays and live music on the patio that night also to excellent prime rib on fridays and saturdays, extra billy's provides perks that further enhance the restaurant's charm. i highly recommend that you try this place out if you haven't already done so. Pros: not crowded, inexpensive, nice atmosphere more

Billy's worth the ""Extra"" 7/3/2002

Our daughter had a basketball tournament in town last weekend and we were fortunate to stumble into ""Billy's"". It was 6:00PM and he parking lot was full......We expected a long wait , but the place is cavernous, and we were seated immediatwely. The waiter was attentive and professional. He couldn't have been more than 22 or so years old. The food was absolutely delightful. I had a combo platter of chicken, pulled pork and sausage. All three were both moist and flavorful. The sauage reminded me of as good as any I've tasted in New Braunfels or Fredericksburg Texas. The pulled pork almost melted in my mouth. Those of you who have ever eaten at Allman's up the road in Fredricksburg will know what I mean! Can't wait to get back, to try a rack. P.S. Don't drink the cabernet! Pros: inexpensive more
