its is really old. Located in middle of city which is nice. Service is about as old as the place, Mexican food. Nothing special. Drinks are nice, but all drinks are nice right? more

Cheap but very good Mexican Food 2/7/2011

You can't beat this restaurant. Inexpensive yet very cool atmosphere and good food. Their salsa is the best in the city and I could eat it by the gallon. Although I don't drink, my friend at 3 margarita's which they are known for. All in all, a great value for your dollar. more

Cool sign, not so cool food 9/23/2010

Maybe the drinks are good. Consider this comment on the meal I had recently. It's typical LA over-pricing, but without good food. I really believe it was some kind of processed cheese that was layered over my very wimpy enchilada... Yes, one enchilada. They sell them in singles, for as much as they sell 3 (plus rice and beans) in normal mexican food joints. Want a local-scale sign the economy spiraled out of control in the last 10 years? Our restaurants are pretty weighty on the tab sometimes. Sometimes, unfortunately, with little return. Maybe I'm a penny-pincher, but it seems this restaurant, which does indeed have some decorative charm, clearly is here for the upper classes, as even in these down times, it seems to draw a crowd who will pay the price. more

Great for food and drinks! 2/24/2010

El Coyote is hot hot hot!!! I love this Mexican restaurant and I keep going back over and over again! Their frozen margaritas are fabulous and so are the tequila shots! I love the food as well and will continue to keep going back! Pros: affordable, great margaritas, and great food! more

The County needs to fine this place 2/13/2010

I was very sick after I ate here. The tacos were cold and the tortilla chips were stale. I saw the waitress take salsa off of a table after the ppl had already left and place it on somebody else's table for consumption. Can they do that? I'm sorry that I ate here. I had diarrhea for the rest of the night. The margaritas were very acidic and didn't help my stomach and I was very hungover the next day. I will NEVER eat here again. The restroom was also very dirty. Pros: I liked the funny waitress dresses Cons: Poor tasting food, slow unprofessional service, more

the food tasted like frozen food from the grocery store 2/13/2010

I was disappointed by the tastelessness of the food, like eating a rubber shoe. the margaritas were watered down and not very strong. I'm sure that there are better places to eat than this in LA. more

Canned Beans and Neon Cheese 2/9/2010

Always filled with a busy and lively crowd, El Coyote provides kitch Mexican food at its best. The decor is campy and festive, with prompt and attentive service by waitresses dressed in Mexican garb. The food, which includes the usual tacos, burritos and enchiladas, isn't the actual draw to this L.A. staple, but it's their famous, and STRONG, margaritas. Bring down a group of friends on a Sunday afternoon, sit on the patio, and enjoy a really fun meal, with a margarita, or two, or three, or... Pros: Valet, parking lot, booze more

My Favorite Hollywood Hangout 1/13/2010

I have been going here for 22 years. The perfect atmosphere with the perfect ""stick to your ribs"" Mexican food. The service is amazing here and many have been working here much longer than I have been going. Have a designated driver if you have more than two of their margaritas! I always take out of town guests for the perfect melting pot experience that is Hollywood. Pros: Margaritas, Service Cons: Waiting List more

Just order the carnitas and scratch margarita 5/27/2009

Stick to the basics, crunchy chicken tacos, margaritas, carnitas. Occasionally the tostada works too. Pros: Tallest glass of wine in town. Cons: They don't drive you home. more

Everything I expected and more 12/20/2008

Incredible service and the food was outstanding. Next time I visit LA I'm booking a hotel as close as possible. Make sure El Coyote is on your list, you won't regret it. Pros: Everything, my list is too long. Cons: None, if there's a line it's worth the wait. more

YUMMY....EAT HERE OFTEN !!!!!!! 12/20/2008

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. SUPER FOOD, PREPARED WELL AT A GREAT PRICE, COURTEOUS ATTENTIVE WAIT STAFF, One of my favorite spots. Do yourself a favor, eat here, OFTEN. Low prices and a great Happy Hour. more

Just good food, screw those with agendas 12/19/2008

No ""AGENDA"" here, just good solid Mexican food and Margaritas. Plan on taking the office here for the food. Wait staff is excellent, courteous, and well mannered. All other bad comments about this restaurant are agenda driven, this place is just down right good. We'll be back! If you don't belive it, try it yourself and you will see that they are being casticized by others for no reason. Good food. Thanks for the hospitality!!! Pros: Good location, couteous ownership Cons: Maybe parking, but hey, where is that not a problem? more

One of the Best Mexican Restaurants in LA 12/19/2008

Everything was just delicious. The margaritas, the comfortable atmosphere. This is a perfect place for friends and family to get together for some great authentic Mexican food. more

Bad food, weak drinks, slovenly staff 12/13/2008

Margaritas are small and weak. Food looks and tastes like plastic. Wait staff seems dirty. Prices expensive compared to what's offered. We're not going back. Pros: Location Cons: parking, food, drinks, staff more

Delicious 11/21/2008

Have you tried the Spanish Omlette Yet? 11/17/2008

For decades, beginning with an uncle, our family has patronized El Coyote without disappointment. When our now grown children are in town visiting, a must do is always a return to this favorite spot. We have celebrated many happy occasions in this informal and friendly atmosphere. While we each have our standard favorites, my husband adores the beef enchaladas and uses them as his benchmark when sampling others. Nothing quite compares in his book. Through the years my personal favorite is the puffy Spanish omlette filled with quality sharp cheddar - its a treat that I have not found anywhere else. We live a good hour away and still get 'our fix' many times a year. more
