Susanne Goin is one of the best chefs in LA and AOC is fantastic. I recommend sitting at the bar. The food is great, the servers and bartenders are helpful and friendly and they have a great wine selection. The bacon-wrapped dates are a must.

The food was VERY pricey but also really good. At my table we ordered crabcake appetizers (not very good at all), seafood risotto (delicious), lobster ravioli special (wish I'd ordered it), fish and chips (not just fish and fries but a GINORMOUS platter with onion rings, calamari, shrimp and scallops too), and white wine/Bellinis. I will definitely go back when I'm in L.A. Shopping at Kitson is just next door, so it's a win/win.
Pros: Delicious seafood
Cons: Always crowded, long lines for tables

The Little Door is one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles. I have been there many times and each time, I am in awe of the beautiful, romantic atmosphere and the fabulous menu, food and wine list. Truly a place to venture to for a romantic night out. Be prepared to spend, but if you want a memorable night, this is that kind of restaurant!

Just went here for the first time! I guess it is just starting to get very popular. I was unsure of what to expect, but immediately after walking in I knew this would be one of my new favorite spots. We arrived around 11 with a promoter so getting in wasn't a problem. The bouncer was very nice, and politely let us in. Refreshing to find in Hollywood. I can tell you that it is better to arrive early, and I noticed that they were not letting people in after about 11:30 without bottle service/cover charge.
We sat down at our table and ordered some food, and it was A++. After eating I grabbed a drink from the bar, the bartender was extremely nice and had a smile on her face the whole night. The crowd was fun, and relaxed. After people were done with dinner, everyone got out onto the floor and started to dance the night away.
There is also a bar outside on the back patio, so it's nice if you don't feel like walking all the way back inside to get a drink. I definitely recommend this place! It has the ambience, and energy that you need for a perfect night. Reminded me of a smaller version of the club Hwood.
Pros: Food, Drinks, Staff, Atmosphere
Cons: Crowded back patio, but still fun!

My wife and I went to Yamashiro a couple of weeks ago and had a great experience. The view was amazing and the service was great.
We shared a few dishes including a variety of sushi, filet mignon, and the grilled seafood. Everything we had was incredible and our server was very helpful in helping us decide what to order.
I appreciated that the filet was cooked to order AND the server came back about a minute after the filet was delivered to make sure it was cooked properly.
We each had a martini and they were mixed PERFECTLY. For dessert we shared the Smores...fantastic!
I can't wait to go back! It's rare to find a restaurant that has everything going for it....but Yamashiro does.
Pros: Quality of food, service, location
Cons: There isn't one in my backyard.

A friend's brother brought me here for brunch one lazy Sunday and I proceeded to come back for the next four days, bringing a different friend each time. I am completely hooked on their salads, steak sandwich, granola & fruit ....but then again, I haven't tried a single thing on the menu that wasn't orgasmically delicious. Speaking of orgasmic...their staff is hands down one of the best-looking groups in LA and so friendly. And the vibe of the place is to die for. At night it's even candlelit! Come here and bring a friend...you may have to wait a little bit, but it's worth it!
one last thing...i love the cupcakes...so fresh so yummy
Pros: food...staff...people watching
Cons: parking

I had some friends in from out of town today and made sure to put Grub on our late morning itinerary. As always, I came out looking like a superstar because everyone loved it and had a great time.Food is always good...server's are always smiling and the ambiance always makes me feel like I've left L.A. for a bit.
The reason I'm writing is that my server mentioned that they won the Best Breakfast award on CitySearch so it prompted me to check it out.
I was a little blown away by seeing the previous comment where an obviously dissatisfied customer tossed out some pretty strong accusations. Now I know that in a public forum everyone is free to say whatever they want but from my perspective I have a pretty hard time believing ANYONE at Grub would be overtly rude. And as far as being discriminatory I don't think that's in the realm of reality.
I've been to Grub probably 30 or 40 times over the past few years and as one who has personally felt the hand of race discrimination I can't imagine that ever taking place at Grub. Now I know this is a restaurant site and discrimination probably isn't the general topic of conversation but for people to toss that out there without anything to back it up is pretty lame. My guess? A competitor trying to take the winds out of the sails of a very cool spot. I met a guy at a party once who bragged that he would leave bad reviews on Yelp and other sites just to hurt his competitors business. Not cool.
So trust me on this one. Grub rocks. :)
Pros: Food, Service, Environment

Bossa Nova is around the corner from my house, and so I've eaten there or gotten takeout a number of times. I almost always end up getting something from the Brazilian grill or sandwich sections of the menu. (The latter is more popular with me when I'm ordering take-out.) My wife seems to always get the pasta. We've never been disappointed with our food, not even when we order take-out. I'm sure it helps that we order take-out, not delivery, and pick it up right when we were told it would be ready by.
The downside is that it can feel a little loud & bustling, but that's not a big deal because it's not like we've ever had to wait for table. Then again, I don't remember us ever eating there on a Friday or Saturday night. In fact, the food seems to go hand-in-hand with the atmosphere with its bold flavors and festive feel: I kind of feel like I'm eating my favorite backyard barbeque cooked by my Brazilian uncle (who doesn't actually exist).
In the bottom line, I think there's a very good match between the food you're served and the price you pay. It's nice to find a tasty spot in Hollywood that's not about the hype.
Pros: Flavorful meats, tasty sandwiches
Cons: Noisy and bustling
