El Azteco Restaurant

El Azteco is a wonderful Mexican restaurant in downtown East Lansing. My parents had their first date there, and I've been eating there all my life. My tastes have changed a bit towards spicier food since I started going there, but they have good spicy food too, so I've always been able to find something to get there. If you just like typical Americanized-Mexican food, I'd recommend the tacos, but for more authentic Mexican food, the Enchilada de Jocoque is very good, spicy has a nice burn, and mild has a little bit of heat more

This salad is a combination of chicken, lettuce, guacamole, peas built on a platter. Two of my friends and myself order this for lunch and someone always takes leftovers home. Add to it their homemade chips and salsa and it's definitely the best and most authentic Mexican in the City. more

If there is a wait to get into EL Azteco ....it will be worth it. I met my husband on a blind date at El Az 26 years ago...the marriage and the food are both still GREAT !!! I can't think of anything we have tried at El Az over the years that we haven't liked....it's all good. more

El Azteco is one of the older establishments in the ever-changing East Lansing landscape and is a solid place to eat if you are looking for some good Mexican. From the house special taco chips and locally made salsas that will make your mouth water to the wide assortment of Mexican favorites, the food is spectacular. They also have a decent alcoholic beverage selection for those looking for a good beer with their tacos. Also, their prices are fairly reasonable for the amount/quality of food you recieve. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that their wait-staff can be a little off at times, but they are usually pretty good and it doesn't really detract from the experience. Overall, I highly recommend El Az for its food and old school atmosphere. more

For $10 a full order of Topopo salad simply will rock your world. I highly suggest two people split a single full order. Even split I would almost guarantee that you'd have a full meal left over. Their ingridents are superb and the chips/salsa they start you off with are excellent as well. It is pretty fun to sit on the room furing the summer and soak up a few rays while grubbing down and having a decent drink. Highly recommended. more

The topopo salad (not sure how to spell it) is great. The one salad is enough for two people. It is more of a cross between nachos and a tostada salad. Very great. They also have some great disserts. Overall I like this restaurant. The food is good the atmosphere so so. The waiters are often slow but that is because they are busy. more

El Azteco is awesome. Their food is to die for if you like authentic mexican food. I recommend the blue corn enchiladas and the marguaritas. They have lunch specials that'll save you a lot of cash, and monday, tuesday and wednesday nights the marguarita pitchers are really cheap. If it's a nice day ask to sit upstairs on the roof, it's a great atmosphere up there. The service is a little slow because they always seem to be be really busy. more

El Azteco hands down has the best margaritas ever! They have awesome mexican food too! Don't miss out on their cheese dip appetizer or blue corn enchiladas, other favorites are the enchiladas de queso and the topopo salad. I discovered this little gem while attending MSU, so be prepared for a college crowd. I wouldn't say their service is the best either & they're always busy but these are trivial compared to their awesome food and drinks. They have takeout too if you don't want to sit with the college kids. more

This Restaurant is so good words can't even describe it. But if they could heres what they'd say. This Restaurant has the best salsa. Also when you order a bowl of chicken and rice soup they don't just give you a little bowl full, they give you the biggest bowl they have filled to the brim. Another thing is a dinner for 2 wont burn a hole in your pocket, unless you leave a giant tip because the staff there is excellent. more
