Don's Automotive Repair

I've been taking my 2002 Acura to Don's for almost 2 years. I was referred by a friend when our warranty ran out, but was hesitant as we live in North Austin and busy schedules make a trip down south for repairs a challenge! That said, I wouldn't take my Acura to any other mechanic in town! Don is honest, down-to-earth, and he I has a passion for providing excellent service to Honda/Acura automobiles! His prices are fair. A good honest mechanic is worth his wages! You won't be disappointed! more

My 2001 Toyota Tundra was still a great truck, except it had inadequate brakes. It was a design problem typical of the model. I sent Don an email and asked if there was a fix and what it would cost. He was quick to respond with some suggestions and then priced out the job for me. He was able to modify the factory-recommended repair and save me lots of $$. Now I have a truck that is again a pleasure to drive, with lots of miles left in it. Don is pretty blunt. He's not interested in debating the fix with you, but he will lay out your options and tell you the truth. Don charged me 3.5 hours of work for $300 to fix an electrical problem with my car horn. When I picked up the car, the electric locks and the interior lights didn't work when they worked fine before. Don said the fuses were fine and he refused to check further unless it was ""on the clock"". He also said I'd probably need to have the whole electrical harness replaced which is over $1000. I took it to another mechanic who said the fuses were blown when Don tested the horn, he said the harness was fine, and that if Don had done the job right, it would have been a 1 hour job. The second mechanic also fixed another problem with my car for about $100 cheaper than Don would have. I have reported Don to the bet. bus. bur. Don's is everything you could want from a garage: honest, knowledgable reilable, punctual, very solid in every way. He has kept my vehicles running way past their prime, and I've never had to go back b/c a repair wasn't done correctly the first time. Some mechanics will take your money no matter the job; Don has been straightforward with me about cars that weren't worth repairing, and I REALLY apprciate that. I picked Don's based on his website, because it looked like a family-run auto shop that would treat you right. Don is friendly, won't do unnecessary repairs/maintenance, and diagnoses everything and gives a good estimate before doing any work. Because he's had many years of experience, he was able to diagnose problems with my car that are common to the model, based on the symptoms I told him. Highly recommended!
