Unhappy 6/12/2011

I was recommended to go here by a friend who said that they offered the newest and most innovative hair products and styles. I was nervous as I usually only get my hair done in New York In short, I hate my hair and I'm going back to New York this weekend to get my hair fixed, it's a total mess. The salons stylists pale in comparison to the professional talent im used to. Sorry Elle magazine I'll never trust your reviews again. If I could, I'd get my money back. more

Best for blondes 1/9/2011

While visiting from San Francisco I had the opportunity to get my hair done by Tim Nork. Being a blonde and wanting to look natural, I am always hesitant in trying a new stylist; however, Tim exceeded all expectations and some. My hair looks natural, shiny with no chunky color sections which can cheapen the blonde look. Thanks to DnA salon for making me look real and fabulous... more

I read the reviews and figured if they got good reviews everywhere I thought I'd give this salon a try ----sure enough, my summer dry blonde hair is now warm, soft and luxurious. Thanks DNA I don't have to drive outside the city anymore. more

Tara's great with curly hair 7/30/2010

I used to drive up to NYC to get my hair cut by the ""Curly Girl"" experts at Devachan Salon. They were great, but this eventually became a little too high maintenance for me, so I decided to find someone closer to home. Tara at DNA told me she learned to deal with curly hair by cutting her own mother's hair when she was growing up. And man, does she know what she's doing! Initially, the wet cut scared me because at Devachan, they live and die by the dry cut. But Tara's cuts bring out the curl in my hair and give me a great combination of professional and edgy. So glad I don't have to go to NYC anymore! Pros: great price, great location, high skill level Cons: far from my home, but worth the drive more

Best salon in Philadelphia. I receive so many compliments on my hair. It is difficult to find a great color and cut in Philly but I've found it here. Highly recommend DNA Salon. Pros: Color and cut more

I just moved to Philly and called a few salons in the midst of a hair color disaster after picking up some Feria (liars) from Walgreens. My hair was a horrible black (the hardest color to get out) and I desperately just wanted to be a brunette again. The folks at DNA immediately handed the phone to Tim who talked me through it and told me to come in that afternoon for a consultation. I went in a few days later for the full color correction treatment and Tim gave me exactly what I was looking for. I'm back to being a brunette and he even gave me a conditioning treatment for free. The staff is excellent - friendly and professional. The price was way less than expected. But when it comes down to it - i feel amazing!! Tim and everyone at DNA did a fabulous job. Thank you to all of them. There is a reason they were chosen as the best in Philly by Elle Magazine!! Pros: great prices, friendly staff, free refreshments more

Was recommended to dna salon by a coworker and it was a great experience. The salon is great and Maryanne gave me the best color and highlights. 5 stars to the salon and Maryanne, they made me feel very welcome. No phone call! 10/16/2008

I called DNA Salon on Tuesday to schedule a first time appointment for an up-do this Saturday with Cassie. The person I spoke to said he would need to call me back. It is now Thursday and still no call back. I checked my voicemail and caller id and nothing says DNA Salon. I thought with all the good reviews on City Search, I'd give them a try since the salon I normally go to was booked. Good thing, I was able to schedule an appointment with another salon in the city. First impressions count and they failed in that department. I can't rate the salon on the way they do hair, so as far as customer service, I would have to say bad! very bad! Great cut, loved it there 7/31/2008

I went today for the first time as a walk-on. I called them and left a message. Someone called me back in a few hours. I was going to fix a horrible cut I got someplace else. Everyone was so friendly and they did an awesome job on my hair. I also got a wonderful head massage during the shampoo/conditoner time. The salon is very clean and chic. The music wasn't so loud and I was able to carry on a conversation with the stylist. I absolutely loved them and would use them regularly again. Just keep in mind they are on the expensive side but it's worth every penny. Pros: Very good cut, easy to find off street parking, head massage!!!!!! Cons: a little bit on the expensive side but worth it more

great stylist, noisy salon! 6/22/2008

I had my hair cut and colored at DNA salon, I had to ring a few times to get an appointment, as the phone went to voice mail, but I persisted as I had been recommended by a friend of mine in NY who had had Charles do her hair and loves it. He was wonderful, patient and attentive, and I left the salon thrilled with my hair. The salon is unbelievably noisy. The music is some alternative rock; very punky and so so loud it can be heard over the dryers. I wanted to relax. My hair looks great, but I couldn?t enjoy the experience because of the noise! Oh and also, the receptionist had a bad attitude, no eye contact! I am not sure why? The trashcan sat overflowing! Pros: The noise, difficult to get the phone answered by the sour receptionist! Cons: Great stylist more

called 4 times and no response 6/7/2008

First I would like to say it is hard to rate a salon that refuses to provide service. I called and asked to speak to Rick regarding hair extensions. I was told he would call me back. I called a total of 4 times and still no return call. I was willing to commute 2 hrs and drop a pretty penny for the service. Being in the spa industry for ten years I can not understand how this slipped threw the cracks. 4 times!!! I quess it just wasn't meant to be!! Love my hair and my experience at DnA! 3/2/2008

My experience at DNA was OUTSTANDING! The previous day I had an appointment at nearby Ovations salon and left disappointed, so I made an appointment at DNA to have my hair fixed. It was my first time at DNA and I had Charles, who was the sweetest, most attentive stylist. I had never had my hair short, let alone had it dyed and he was ever so nice and encouraging in talking me through the hairstyle. He made sure I left with a smile on my face and I couldn't be happier. The staff didn't care how much time it took, as long as I was happy. Rick washed my hair and was ever so nice and gentle. I love my hair and I consider DNA my salon and Charles my stylist now!!! more

Best salon in Philly 1/20/2008

I wanted to thank DnA Salon for the wonderful job they did with my hair extensions. I have been wanting Great Lengths for a while and finally did it. They extensions look wonderful and they even put highlights through my hair. Now I have long and thick hair with highlights that won't fade. I am truly ""camera ready"". more
